Had the best time ever!! The food was prepared to perfection. Our server was really great and the chef came out to greet us and even let us try out a new appetizer he had prepared. That really made us feel special. Beautiful atmosphere too and never felt rushed. We had time to enjoy sitting back for our visit with friends and just really had such a nice time. Thank you.
Food was excellent, but the wait seemed long even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. Also a little disappointed that we didn't receive a complimentary dessert for our 30th wedding anniversary. Ruth's Chris Steak House has this practice and just thought the Red Stag Grill would also. That won't stop us from returning for a wonderful steak the next time we are in Asheville.
Service & atmosphere was great. Food was just average.
Cool ambiance, good service, price for food we had was not worth it. Very small portions and everything is ala carte. We had steaks and Elk. Was good but, extremely small cuts.
My wife and I came to the Red Stag Grill to celebrate her birthday in style! We were served drinks at the bar by Rose and Molly who took great care of us. The hostess seated us at our favorite table and made sure we were comfortable. Corrine became our server and we exchanged casual banter back and forth throughout the evening. The Elk Carpaccio was a wonderful way to start to accompany two glasses of Caymus Cabernet. Patricia had the Filet MR and I enjoyed the Lamb Shoulder which was braised and served atop sweet carrots and smashed red potatoes. DELICIOUS !!! Corrine brought us a complimentary carrot cake for Patricia's B'Day and along with the Royal Tokai dessert wine made a beautiful evening! A special note about the server attendant who meticulously set and cleared tables as well as helped deliver the food is important. She spoke to us briefly and acknowledged how much she enjoyed her job. I regret having forgotten her name. The entire staff worked in unison to provide us with a memorable experience.
ONLY blemish in the experience, is my wife’s birthday was never acknowledged. I communicated twice to staff at front.
Good service and atmosphere . Very clean and the menu was unique that lighted when opened. Always an issue when ordering and find it hard to read in dim lighted areas. Cocktails we good and a nice size glass for mixed drinks. The ribs and Filet were very good and our server was very attentive and helpful.
This was a surprise dinner for my wife's birthday. It was perfect. The staff were great and the food fantastic. It is without a doubt I would recommend the Red Stag Grill in the Bohemian Hotel to anyone. While it is not inexpensive I felt the cost of our meal, drinks, and desert for the three of us was very much in line with my expectations. I am very pleased.
Thank you so much for dining with us at the Red Stag Grill. We are over joyed to hear that your celebration went off without a hitch and even more happy that we were able to provide exemplary food and service. I'll be sure to share your comments with our team. Thank you again, we hope to see you soon. Best Regards, Olivia Bowers
Honeymoon! We’ve been to the Red Stag before for our dating anniversary 2 years ago. They sat us at the same table and treated us as royalty. The food was great as always and the service, top notch! They finished with a dessert on the house in honor of our special occasion. If you’re a steak this place is definitely worth checking out!
First time dining here. Very pleasantly surprised. Both of our meals were excellent and the service was excellent as well. Valet parking made it nicer as parking in the area can be very difficult. Strongly recommend.
Thank you so much for dining with us. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience at the Red Stag Grill. We appreciate you taking the time to leave to this comment and we hope to see you again soon. Best Regards, Olivia Bowers
Overall the food was very good. My wife had pheasant and it was great. I had a filet mignon also great, the second time around. The first time, my medium rare was just plain raw. Highlights were the grilled asparagus and carrot cake.
The biggest ripoff restaurant I ever went to in my life. We should have known since it's in a pricey hotel.
They charge at least double the price for what the food is worth; the food quality and taste was fair. We would never go back. We both had a $65 stomach that night. Very unfortunate and very disappointed since we were celebrating our 40th anniversary! :(-

This was the 2nd time to the Red Stag grill, the last was about one year ago and our experience was more enjoyable then. This visit was on a Saturday night. Like the description says, the Red Stag Grill has a dark interior which is definitely like a rustic hunting lodge, but upscale. Generally when I walk into a darker restaurant, it suggests quiet ambiance. It was definitely not quiet this time. The music was loud, and even worse, the bass was cranked to the max and the treble was non-existent, so all you hear is bass and have no idea what the song is. But about the food. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. For the appetizer my wife had the Sweet Grapefruit and Chicories, which was very heavy on Spinach... the Radicchio and Belgian Endive were hard to find, which I suppose is ok, but change the name to 'Spinach and Chicories Salad'. I had the Mushrooms & Cheese and it was good. Nice small marinated mushrooms with a creamy cheese which I enjoyed. The presentation was lacking, however, as it was served in a small bowl. For the main course, I ordered a medium-rare steak, and it was squarely in medium-well territory... but it was nice cut of meat so it was still tender, so I let it pass . For a grill, you should be able to nail the temperature of meats. I ordered a side of asparagus and it really wasn't "side size" since there were about a dozen medium spears on my plate. In my opinion, it should be in a side dish sized for sharing. For one person it was fine. My wife had the Lentil Croquette appetizer (she wasn't too hungry that day) and she said it wasn't very good at all. Again, the presentation for her dish was lacking because it was served in the same small bowl as my appetizer was. I guess that is "ok" since she did order an appetizer, but typically at nicer restaurants, if she orders an appetizer for a main course, it is presented differently. There were 3 other people with us and they said their food was "pretty good". We did not order desserts.
Food was pretty good. It was a perfect location for my business lunch - quiet, comfortable chairs, plenty of atmosphere. Though I appreciate the effort, I found the wait staff to be a little too hovering; I don't need to be interrupted every three minutes by someone asking if I'm all right.
The cheese plate was good but the monster piece of bread served with it was unnecessary. A couple of crackers would have sufficed.

We really enjoyed the Red Stag Grill. Our waiter was excellent. We really enjoyed our meals and the wine selection was perfect.
Very nice place with incredible ambiance at the Grand Bohemian Hotel. Very interesting and creative menu prepared to perfection! Wagyu ribeye and elk striploin were both outstanding with great flavors and prepared to tender perfection’.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience! Hope to see you soon. Regards Veronica Beltran Food and Beverage Director
We were the last dinners of the evening. Rather than the bums rush, we were treat with great care and appreciation by Sarah and the staff!
Ate at the bar. Awesome service, great lunch menu and reasonable prices !!!
This was an incredible meal cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is very unique and is definitely a place to celebrate an occasion or just enjoy the evening with friends
Thank you so much for your feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Regards Veronica Beltran Food and Beverage Director
Amazing setting and great service. Food was cooked to perfection. Our server was aware and read my reservation comments
Nice atmosphere and decor, very unusual and delicious menu selections.
Great atmosphere and food!!
I went to dinner there with my mom and my boyfriend. We all enjoyed our food and appetizers. My trout dish was delicious and I would not hesitate to order it again. The others thought the duck special was cooked very well and was very good. My mom ordered the grilled eggplant and was very happy with the dish. We were all to full to order dessert.
The place has a definite hunting lodge feel to it that wouldn't be my normal taste but the good food made up for my personal preference for a different vibe. The seats that were at our table were very roomy and comfortable The light up menus compensated for the darkness in the dining room and were a small touch that prevented the lack of light from being a problem reading the menu. Overall, it was a great experience and i would eat there again.
Great romantic ambiance for celebrating birthday or anniversary. Live piano playing in the background. Excellent drinks and fillet mignon!
Our favorite place in Asheville. They never disappoint
Our reservation was for 6PM. The service, food, and wait time was excellent. The decor was wonderful as our group entered. Soon after serving the wine and the waiter leaving our table, the sun began to reflect directly into my eyes. The ambiance and seeing the decor at this time was poor for me personally, because the sun was reflecting in my eyes much longer than I would have hoped and I’m photophobic. The other three at the table did not have the sun reflecting on them. In the time it took for the waiter to return to our area I was extremely uncomfortable. In fact, I could not see for the glare. The waiter returned to our area in a timely manner in a normal situation, but for me it seemed a long wait. He was apprised of the situation and immediately closed half of the curtain across from us.
Amazing as always. Elk strip steak was awesome. Took my husband there for his birthday. He had the beef tenderloin and said he was the best meal he had ever had. Restaurant is a little pricey on the drinks.
I ordered the special of stew which was good and the portion was fine but my wife ordered the shrimp and grits and received what looked like a child's portion. I did not pay for a child's plate and we left very disappointed. The shrimp and grits were tasty but it was more like an appetizer. It was very disappointing. It was her birthday and we had hoped for a delightful experience. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
Firstly, I do not like to give bad reviews but feel justified that in a restaurant such as this where the surroundings are magnificent but the food ( in my view) is only average at best.
To start, We were shown to a corner table by Kellie where the only view I had was a wall. This would be acceptable if the restaurant was either very busy or full, but there were maybe 12 people sitting for dinner in a very large and opulent restaurant area. The attitude and professionalism as shown by Kellie left a lot to be desired as, having brought us silently to the table then abrubtly left without asking were we happy!
It was left to a truly magnificent and utterly professional server called Corine to organise another table where we could enjoy the atmosphere.
Now to the food. My wife ordered the premium tasting menu and it must be said that the presentation and taste was first class. However, I ordered braised shoulder of lamb from the a la carte menu and it arrived warm at best with more fat and grizzle than meat. Desert consisted of 3 flavours of home made ice cream which was quite tasty and acceptable.
Our overall experience was dulled by a very unprofessional restaurant receptionist and ( in my case) below expected food standards.
I also note from reading other less than complimentary reviews that the response from this restaurant is the exact same standard response. I would think that a restaurant which should pride itself on first rate customer care would at least take the time to personalise their response to individual concerns and criticisms.
I would also like to compliment the barman who we found to be knowledgeable, attentive, friendly and professional in all his dealings with us and other customers.
The lunch menu as one steak, it is 3 oz petite filet. Disappointed there was not more steak selections at lunch.
Filet was undercooked. They were out of my wine selection and substituted it without asking me. The char was so salty it was hard to swallow and the barley with peas and mushrooms was undercooked. I was disappointment in the entire experience

Excellent service and great ambience, delicious food and very friendly staff!
The ambiance of the restaurant is unique making the dining experience more than just eating. It almost felt like living a life far removed from an everyday event. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and was personable. He was also very attentive to our needs. The food was excellent. My meat was a tender Bison Ribeye, which was a new experience having never eaten Bison before.
Excellent and unique food, service and ambiance.
An Asheville gem for sure. Don't miss this one whether you are visiting or a local.
We always have had great meals at reasonable prices
