Great food but always so noisy that it’s difficult to hear people speaking at your own table.
This was a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting. Excellent, attentive service! There were a surprising number of children in the restaurant which added to the volume!
Favorite spot when on vacation. Blueberry martini is a must. Been coming here for 6 plus years. Wouldn’t miss the opportunity.
Great service and fantastic food.
This is a “must do” while visiting the island. Romance and ambiance top tier .... not cheap but well worth it. Make reservations and have fun !
Great service, ambiance and food! Vegan options too!
We ate here twice in a week...we loved it that much. All was excellently prepared and presented. The best restaurant we ate at in Kauai.
Our best (and most expensive) meal in Kauai. Every course was done perfectly, service was excellent, and wine was not over priced. Probably the best Ahi I have every had. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great for special occasions.
The best meal we have had since our last meal here almost a year ago. Excellent.
A very enjoyable dining experience. The food was excellent. The server provided just the right balance between attentiveness and knowing when to allow us time for our own conversation.
Hands down the best meal I've ever had. I ordered the chefs special 4 course meal and it did not dissapoint.
Great dining experience except for the noise level. Fois gras was fabulous as was our entree. Will be back.
Beautiful food, expensive cocktails in a pleasant setting that was on the loud side but that was because it was pretty busy. We had a lovely dining experience with very nice service.
Fabulous! The best dinner we had on Kauai. Would definitely recommend!
Place smelled of stale fish. Fish entree overcooked despite request. Way expensive for what it was.
Fantastic food, delicious GF options & excellent service! So glad we tried it! Atmosphere is hotel-lobbyish...otherwise, 5 stars!
Romantic ambiance, rushed service, overpriced menu - I had high expectations for the food but it the value didn’t match the dish. There are definitely better options on the island.
On February 22, 2018, the Madagascar-Vanilla Bean-Seared Mahi was dry; I asked the server for more avocado mousse, which helped. The most disappointing part of the meal was the Tomato Salad, which did NOT have heirloom tomatoes, just little grape tomatoes and a sour mozzarella. The servers run like they are in a race and one almost has to grab one to get attention. Our server was particularly anxious to take off after making a quick stop. I have NEVER been to a restaurant like this; I found out later that the servers have no backup, so they have to maintain drinks, clear tables, take and deliver orders. I understand, but would not recommend this restaurant.
From the moment we were greeted by the valet to the wonderful desert the meal and service were exceptional.
The seared ahi with mushroom risotto was amazing and Robert our waiter was informative and accurate with his recommendations.
The food was great and the manager took care of us and brought out a spectacular Syrah for us to drink with dinner.
Great Hawaiian food! The wasabi crusted ahi is amazing and the lobster gnocchi is beyond description. Jack gave us terrific service as well
We had dinner there and it was so delicious that we returned for breakfast!
The lobster ravioli and bone marrow were the stars. Everything else but the fabulous service I have already forgotten. The sunset does not make it here even though you can see the ocean.
Inventive flavors and textures and nice plating if a bit overwrought. Good service in a room off the hotel lobby that was a bit loud though the crowd, mostly tourists on vacation, seemed not to mind. All in all worth a try if you’re looking for a fancy meal in the modern Hawaiian idiom. But subtle it’s not.
Best scallops appetizer and lamb chops entree ever! Can’t go wrong here - Great food, ambience, service!
We were staying at the resort and enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. Both meals were good, but dinner was great. Friendly, warm, professional service of a tasty meal. I got the braised rib and my husband got the lamb chops.
Came here to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary. We were congratulated by the receptionist but disappointed that it was not acknowledged by our waitress. We got some bread with dipping oil and red salt to start. Also, got the octopus appetizer which was very good. I got the snapper and the wife got the braised beef. I loved my snapper, cooked perfectly. The wife thought the ribs were too fatty. For dessert, we got the Red Salt Cake, which was good and light. Its fine dining so expect to pay. We didnt get alcohol which was about $20 per drink!
Red Salt is one of the best restaurants on Poipu. The food is superb. The menu is rather short, but everything is done perfectly. We picked up a bottle of Champagne from The Wine Shop in Koloa, so were not charged any corkage fee - what a great deal! The servers are gracious and efficient. We come here for a special dinner each time we come to Kauai.
This is a really special place. Wonderful food and drinks in a beautiful setting. Great service. I would highly recommend it. Very romantic! We truly enjoyed everything about our dinner there.
We loved the food and our server. The only thing that I marked down was ambiance because the atmosphere didn’t have the refined, fine dining feel that you’d get in a mainland city — the restaurant is right off the lobby of the resort, a big family with young children was eating dinner next to us, the host wrapped up a five minute phone call before greeting us while we waited in front of him.
We had a recommendation from some friends to come here and we were so happy we did!! The food was amazing the waiter awesome and it was all around a great experience!! The lobster gnocchi was fantastic!!!
Lobster gnocchi was to die for. Vanilla bean mahi-mahi was great too. Snapper and ahi were outstanding. Bryan was a great server.
Still the best restaurant on the South Shore period.
Wonderful meal! The food was excellent and the service was great. It was a little noisy but we throughly enjoyed it and will definitely go back.
The dining room is pleasant. The service is excellent. Bread, butter (delicious), and red salt are included. Salads are ample for splitting (no charge). We ordered mahi-mahi and ahi for our entrees, and they were perfectly prepared and creatively presented. The only negative was the extremely high noise level resulting from a large party, and amplified by hard surfaces throughout.
Located at Koa Kea resort in Poipu, very good food and service.
We have been to all of the islands of Hawaii multiple times; Red Salt is one of the best places to eat anywhere in Hawaii- and our personal favorite on Kauai
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The value was not there as compared to other restaurants in the area due to the high prices. $50 for a hamburger and fries?
Nicest restaurant in the Ko Kea Resort. Was nice but like many places in Hawaii, overpriced and average. Scallops were too salty and the salads bleah. Mari was tasty but small portioned. You can do better elsewhere in Poipu.
