It was for our 20th wedding anniversary and someone recommended we go to Red Salt. We canceled 2 reservations after looking at their menu online. It exceeded our expectations. The meal and service were excellent, probably the best meal we’ve had in years. It was “Fine Dining” at its best. We highly recommend it to all. We tried the ahi tartare, Mahi and snapper, they were all prepared perfectly. And our waiter Chris was fantastic. Thanks again, we’ll be back.
Our second time to Red Salt did not disappoint. Service from seating to dessert was top notch. The scallops, coconut bisque, and Mahi were fresh and delicious. We hope to come back soon!
Magi was amazing and sorbets sealed the deal. Wish they would serve sushi from the bar but appears to be separated. Would have been a great app.
The burrata salad is our favorite thing on the menu. Just great flavors, big enough to share but we each got our own because we love it. The ribeye had great flavor but had some sinew. Good place for a special occasion. Pricey
I hesitate to leave a less than stellar review but perhaps it would be good for the proprietor to hear and improve. In the three nights we have been here we have gone out for a nice dinner all three nights. Of those three restaurants, Red Salt was in my opinion, third in ambiance, third in food taste, first in cocktails, and tied for first in service. But it was also easily the most expensive, so last in value.
Everything was just good, it was a good dining experience, but they do nothing to justify their price. The 2 downers were 1) The butternut squash soup, which is what I have whenever I can, was probably the worst I've had. No body or flavor. and 2) It was my wife's 50th birthday, we had picked this place based on reviews, I told them on the website it was her 50th, they acknowledged it to me in secret when we checked in, but nothing during the meal. I don't need half the staff around us singing and giving her a sombrero, but would it have hurt to give her a scoop of ice cream with a candle?? And I don't care about the ice cream either, but its the thought that counts, and there was no thought. Nothing.
We ordered the Foie Gras Brulee, Ahi Tartare, Madagascar Vanilla Bean Seared Mahi, Colorado Lamb Chops and Tahitian Vanilla Cheesecake. We ate at a lot of nice restaurants during our 5 nights in Kauai, but this dinner topped our list! First, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. When we wanted to order port to pair with the foie gras, we appreciated that the waiter consulted with the sommelier when he wasn't 100% sure about what to recommend. The menu was well thought out and creative. The food came out perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and well balanced with the side dishes. It would be hard to choose a favorite appetizer or entree... they were all stellar. The drinks are also top notch. While the restaurant is located in the lobby of the resort, you don't realize that when you're dining. There was even a decent view of the ocean from our table!
While staying at a nearby property with limited dining options, we found Red Salt next door. We are there three times! We had dinner there one night and breakfast twice. Each time was fabulous. The service and food was amazing. Next time we will switch properties and stay at the Ko’a Kea!
Our food and server were super? The host however, had a snippy attitude! Felt like, “you’re a tourist and will be leaving the island, so I don’t have to accommodate you”! Restaurant was very noisy from people watching the football game in the bar.
Went for just appetizers. Scallop dish was one of the best things I've ever eaten! Salads and octopus outstanding.
It’s always a great dining experience and the dishes are always surprising!
Great experience all the way around! We had a table at the window available to us but were offered the ability to sit poolside and order off the same menu which we chose to do to be closest to the ocean and sunset. The view was perfect, pool bartender provided our service and did a fabulous job! The food was delicious!
Our favorite place in Kauai. We booked twice during our week there. Love the food. Lobster gnocchi amazing. Tomato salad so good. Great drinks. Amazing service. Don’t miss this place!!!
Amazing service and food. The wasabi crusted ahi tuna was perfectly cooked. Our waiter and support staff couldn’t have been better.
thought it was overpriced based on the food & lack of ocean front dining. My lobster gnocchi was fine but not mind blowing. Husbands fish was just ok for the high price. Did appreciate the complimentary anniversary dessert though. Service was good but could barely hear our waitress due to the background noise
Awesome dining experience. The food was superb and the service fantastic. It was no more expensive than many of the restaurants but for us one of the two best in Poipu
The food is excellent, outstanding and amazing...well prepared...great selection. The service was exceptional and the ambiance exquisite. This food is 5 star and well worth the price!!!
Outstanding service, ambiance, cocktails and fish dishes. Will definitely return for dinner on our next visit to the South Shore of Kauai.
Excellent lobster gnocchi, amazing scallops. However, to not have a beer under $13 is a bit of a shame.. also the food is pretty overpriced, even more expensive than Grand Hyatt prices.
Amazing restaurant. We love the place and the food. A little disappointed that no poke or sushi was available that night but in fairness it was during a hurricane so fresh fish probably wasn’t coming into the harbor. Always yummy!
The service was outstanding and the food very good. A little suggestion would be to turn up the light... it was not that much of a problem for us but we did see two couples turn on the torch on their phones to see the menu.
Everything we ordered (salad, octopus, ribeye, mahi, red salt burger) was delicious. Service was attentive and excellent.
This is one of the most special restaurants on the island. It is pretty expensive, but the quality of the food and of the experience makes it worth it. Note that there is not a fantastic near-the-ocean view, but the restaurant is elegant and spacious. I'd like especially to give a shout out to our server, Hannah--she was friendly and warm without being intrusive, efficient without being fussy, and really knew her stuff. Thanks, Hannah!
Wow. This place is amazing. We got the wagyu sliders and tomato salad as appetizers which were both outstanding. Also did the blueberry açaí martini. For our entrees we did the Mahi Mahi which is what the server recommended as his favorite dish, as well as the spinach and mushroom ravioli. Everything was so incredibly delicious. Would HIGHLY recommend this place if you ever visit Kauai.
Excellent food and service. Best restaurant on the Island. Food was really well prepared and everything was excellent. It is pricey, but well worth it.
Fabulous food. Service was great. Chris our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu items and his recommendations were spot on.
Robert was absolutely awesome as a server! My wife and I had an amazing dinner here on our honeymoon. Really top notch across the board! This place is on the high end of the spectrum as far as price but I was very happy with the product delivered. I couldn’t say the same of Tide Pools at the Hyatt. If choosing between the two, choose this every time.
Very very loud but great food and cordial waitstaff.
A bit overpriced and over cooked. Service was excellent though!
Dinner was good but it took to long 1 and 40 min is to long for a starter and a main cours
Highly recommend this amazing restaurant. Food and service are top notch.
Ok food- entrees much better quality and value than mains.
Let the star ingredient shine - don’t cover good lobster in sweet creamy, cheesy sauce
Fantastic food and service. The only unfortunate aspect were 2 large, very loud group tables situated on either side of us. Once they cleared out, it was fine! A great dining experience! Our server was lovely!
One of the best places in Poipu to get great food and service. This is the 2nd time we have eaten at red salt and both times I have enjoyed the service and food especially by Far the best Martini In Poipu . Will go back again the next time we come to Kaua’i
Steak was very expensive, but served cold with a lot of fat on the steak. The remainder of the food was adequate, but not justified by the price. Restaurant is right off of the lobby, contributing to an odd ambiance. Our server was wonderful.
The resort is a little hard to find, but Red Salt is worth it. The several times we have visited the dinners
have been excellent, the service great and the ambience most comfortable.
The food and ambience were excellent. The bone marrow appetizer was unbelievably good. I was also able to taste the tuna tartare which was also good but the bone marrow was the best thing I ate and that is saying something as pretty much everything was excellent. I had the lamb chops with the Parmesan crust which was cooked perfectly. The only thing that didn’t meet or exceed expectations were the mashed potatoes it came with which were a bit bland. For desert the waitress recommended the red salt cake and she nailed it as the white chocolate mouse it came with ended the meal on a high note. I only gave value as 4 stars as a $20 cocktail is a bit extreme and while the whole meal was expensive it was definitely worth it overall.
Our experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The server was exceptionally good: attentive and knowledgeable. The appetizers (we ordered three)and entrees were all delicious and creatively prepared. The restaurant’s decore is elegant and tasteful. We come to the Marriott Waiohai every year and now all the restaurants in the area. The Red Salt is pricy but it’s now at the top of our list of favorites.
My husband’s ahi was over cooked but they were quick to replace it. Soups were presented in a fun way. Pricy menu and drinks, but a good spot for a special meal.
We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It’s not that often you find a world class restaurant at a resort, but this place is awesome. The menu was outstanding, wine selection superb and service tremendous. A great find. We’ll return soon!
Absolutely fantastic!!! One of the best restaurants in Kauai
