Red Salt’s diverse menu by acclaimed Executive Chef and Kauai native Noelani Planas celebrates fresh Hawaiian seafood and produce in a casual, yet sophisticated seaside atmosphere. Modern dinner cuisine including vanilla bean-seared mahi, ahi tartare, and the decadently layered Red Salt burger are served in a contemporary setting. The Red Salt Lounge is host to a sushi bar featuring the day’s freshest catch in innovative, isle-inspired rolls. Lounge and sushi bar seating are not available for reservation and is first come, first served. During morning hours, Red Salt offers tropical takes on traditional breakfast dishes, such as lobster benedict and lemon-pineapple soufflé pancakes, recently featured by Food Network.

I’m so happy to go to red salt! We had the best dinner everything was so delicious!!!! The ambiance was amazing I highly recommend it!!!!! I had the chicken which was outstanding with polenta unbelievable! My husband had the short ribs equally amazing! And the pretzel bread oh my goodness!

After a long wait we were so excited for our birthday dinner plans. Although the menu is limited, we had a wonderful evening. The only bummer was a kind of rowdy group that one person had a huge laugh during the whole time we were there. However with Covid and all the other crazy things happening in the world it was nice to know someone was truly letting loose!!

We went on Opening Night of Pandemic Recovery. Chef Noe was as always on top of things. Our requested server Mayan was making sure the dinner went without a hitch. He always does! Mr. Aki, an old friend of my wife's, came by to say hello to our table.

Beautiful setting. Food quality and presentation excellent. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly. I had the Mahi . Good flavour and cooked perfectly. However piece of fish and scoop of black rice over priced.

Frankly I was a bit disappointed. I ordered mumm champagne as they only had 1 Prosecco and 1 Champs by the glass to select from. It came in the small bottle and they unscrewed it to pour. All good but interesting. They knew we were there to celebrate our anniversary and said they would do something special. The meal was not paced at all. Once we got our salads barely eaten the main course was delivered. We ordered the chocolate creme brûlée for dessert. It came in a glass round dish less than 3” in diameter. Not plated, not displayed at all - just put down on the table. Not too impressive for a restaurant of this caliber... or supposed caliber. Overall while the food was good, it was not the experience we had hope it would be. Oh about that anniversary special moment? Yep, nada.

We have been dining at Red Salt nearly every year since it opened and it never disappoints. The miso butterfish and seared scallops were amazing. The kale salad was ok. I always look forward to the mushroom bisque but, unfortunately, it wasn't good this year. Almost like a new recipe. The only other negative was the watery, flavorless Mojito. The cheesecake was a bit too sweet, with more of a mousse-like texture, but good. The service was excellent.

Fixed price four course meal of salad, scallops, gnocchi and cheesecake was perfectly sized and paired. The burger was over-the-top and not in a good way—eliminate some of those add-ons that get lost

From my experience over many years, Red Salt is the best quality restaurant on Kauai. The staff goes out of their way to make for a most enjoyable evening. The Chef always make sure that the unique and delicious menu items are presented in a 5 Star Way. Its not a large space so reservations are a must.

We ate here about 5 years ago and remembered it was fantastic. We were disappointed this time. The food was not as memorable and they have gone cheap on the chopsticks! Honestly, the beautiful chopsticks they use to use made the meal feel very special. This time, just like the disposable chopsticks, the food was just not that special, Drinks were good though.

We had a marvelous meal at Red Salt. My husband enjoyed the special which was surf and turf so much and has been talking about it for the last few days. I ordered the Miso Butterfish which was such a delicious meal. Our grown sons had the braised short ribs and rib eye steak which they both really enjoyed. The service was very good, attentive but not overly so. The restaurant has a good wine selection.

The special entree for the evening was memorable: perfectly pan seared opah served over fingerling potatoes and broccolini, topped with a small crab cake, and all smothered in Hollandaise sauce. Our appetizers and desserts were also excellent. Red Salt should not be missed when visiting Kauai.

Exquisite martinis started our experience, followed by the tempura duo, featuring a spicy tuna roll and lobster California roll with truffle aioli and tobiko. What could top that? Well, we found out. My wife enjoyed the madascar vanilla bean seared Mahi and I had the miso butterfish, one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever eaten. The black bean chili glaze added just the right amount of dash to the fish, which was made even more complete with a glass of the Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir, recommended by our extremely valuable and attentive server Bryan. All in all an amazing night celebrating our anniversary. Thanks to all at Red Salt, a special place for a special occasion. We make one trip to Red Salt each time we’re in Kauai and have never been disappointed.

We came from Oahu to spend the long weekend with my family. And since we didn’t have time to do the vday dinner in Oahu, we planned to have it in Kauai. I heard about Red Salt from most of my Kauaian friends and family that it was one of the choices from many other restaurants to have dinner for date night! I chose red salt mostly because of the pictures of the food and restaurant and of course service but mostly for the rib eye with roasted Brussels sprouts! Sadly, when we were settled in, we were told they were out of the rib eye. So rather, we settled for the filet mignon which was just as good but my heart was really for the rib eye. Service was excellent and the ambiance was modern and fresh! Love everything about Red salt except the fact they were out of the rib eye

Must have the Lobster & Gnocci- this blew my mind and I love Gnocci. Mushroom truffle soup and truffle fries were very good too. Brussel sprouts were ok. Can't wait to go back for that Lobster & Gnocci for my bday! The restaurant was absolutely beautiful.

Classy ambiance and very delicious, as expected! I would definitely recommend.

I had the frozen mango margarita and my boyfriend had the Manhattan. Both very well done. Delicious Hawaiian red salt for the unsalted butter and bread while we waited for our food.

I enjoyed the miso butterfish - delicious, flaky, with nuanced Asian flavors. My boyfriend’s steak was cooked perfectly and came with tasty creamy mashed potatoes.

The service was good too - just attentive enough. It’s definitely more expensive but the food is worth it.

had a 6:15 reservation and we ordered drinks apps a shared salad and entrees. the drinks and the apps were great, the beet salad was ok but under seasoned and needed another component, it felt like it was missing something. at about 7pm they had a live musician playing in the lobby and once the sun set they turned up some horrible led lights. the room became very loud and just lost all ambiance. our waiter just about disappeared. took about 10 min to clear our empty salad plates and another 20-25 minutes to bring out our entrees. My gnocchi was not cooked and was tough and hard, the foi gras was super thin cut and taste burnt. The Brussels sprouts were browned but raw in the middle and hardly anything was seasoned properly. my wife had the seared ahi and it had so much of the wasabi furrikake caked on top she had to scrape it all off because it was to salty to eat. when the waiter came back and offered dessert i asked for the menu but it took so long for him to return we just said forget it and asked for the check. If you go get their at 5:30 because it seems to collapse at about 7.

We chose Red Salt for our last evening meal while in Kauai. It’s located in the lobby area of the upscale Ko’a Kea Resort. We enjoyed the Tempura Duo appetizer......an interesting twist on traditional sushi. My husband had the shrimp bisque & chose the braised short ribs for his entree. He enjoyed the short ribs but wasn’t convinced the bisque was worth the steep price. I had the miso butterfish. The dish was rescued by the bean chili paste condiment on the fish. We splurged on the chocolate cre’me brûlée for dessert. It was delicious, decadent & lovely in a petite serving. All in all, we will not likely return when we visit Kauai again next year. The prices are extraordinarily high without delivering an exceptional meal. Despite other reviews noting exemplary service, ours was so-so.

I hate giving this restaurant a so so review as the food and service was so good. Unfortunately the noise level was ridiculous for such a small venue. Reading other reviews I’m shocked this hasn’t been resolved. That being said the scallops and butterfish were outstanding.
