Great food quick service great atmosphere. We're strongly recommend if you're in Harlem to visit this restaurant.
Amazing as always
Everything was perfect with the exception that our stomachs were not large enough to accommodate all of the fantastic food!!
We have been wanting to go to Red Rooster for a very long time. The food and drinks, margarita, Martines and speciality drinks were spectacular. The serving sizes were generous. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the lack of enthusiasm from the employees. They didn't seem happy, going through the drill, not engaging.
Good was great, servers were great and ambiance was great. Knowing they grow their own vegetables in the restaurant was an awesome thing. Every server was attentive to you if you stopped them and asked a question. Had a wonderful time.
Our server was superb!!!!
I’m a little disappointed that with this being Marcus’s spot that you can’t request the white or dark pieces of chicken and also that you can only have your burger temperature well done. Overall it was a nice meal, it took the edge off but it wasn’t phenomenal. Our server made our experience better. She answered all our questions and she was extremely patient.
YES CHEF! The food and service are always excellent and outdoor dining is just what we need during the pandemic.
My husband & our friend & I were so happy to finally eat at the Red Rooster and enjoy Marcus's delicious, exciting recipes! We loved the food and presentation (shrimp w/grits, crispy bird sandwich, collards, asparagus, deviled eggs, sundae), our great servers, the lighting and the timing of service.
However, the (too) loud music plus the live acoustics of the room dampened our otherwise great experience because we were forced to talk loudly during our entire meal. We would also recommend Red Rooster to others but also suggest sitting outside (we would've had a 1.5 hour wait, unfortunately). Next time! Thank you.
The service was great. We sat outside, our servers were attentive. The shrimp and grits are a must have. So delicious. The cocktails were amazing.
The perfect place to experience the soul and flavors of Harlem.
Love this restaurant. Service was a little slow but still very hospitable and amazing. Food and drinks came extremely fast. The bucatini was absolutely amazing and the crab cake was delicious (ask for their hot sauce on the side!). We’re from out of town but this has become a regular spot when visiting.

Lugar delicioso con personalidad y la gente extraordinaria! Wow!
Everything about this place is Amazing. Our waitress was sweet and attentive.
super fun atmosphere, great drinks at a great price
Hi Sylvie, How super fun is our atmosphere? Our vibe is something that can only be understood by personal immersion, you have to experience it to fully comprehend it....Right? Thanks so much for coming by and being a part of our warm atmosphere. It is our hope that you will join us again the next time you are in the neighborhood. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
The food was so good, I was speechless. The decor was beautiful and homey. The music and art showed an appreciation of the African diaspora. I love love love this restaurant.
The food and service were very good. The surrounding was not for outside dining. The restaurant did a great job to disguise the surroundings. We loved the food. The roasted cauliflower was delicious as was the Mac and cheese with lobster. Servings more than enough to share
A lovely and relaxing lunch in a new (for us) restaurant owned by a chef whose food we've enjoyed for a long time at Aquavit...
What's amazing is in addition to delicious food and the attentive staff, is the great sense of community at this Harlem hot spot. I took a friend from St Lucia and we sat next to a young woman who was taking her grandfather from Florida to lunch the the 4 of us had a wonderful chat about food and family.
Thank you NyEH, for joining us recently, and for truly understanding what a dining experience at Red Rooster is all about. Yes, of course it is about the food, the service, and the atmosphere, but it is also about bringing people together to foster a sense of community. Red Rooster is proud to be a Harlem mainstay, and we are even prouder of the people we get to call our guests. We are grateful you dined with us, and we hope to welcome you back one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Really great time. Love having it right in Harlem, food was great and the vibe is welcoming
I had a wonderful time and my waiter was amazing I love coming to this restaurant I came all the way from Long Island
Anisa, our waitress was very courtesy, funny and accommodating - a true value to your restaurant, thank you!

We were disappointed with our initial waiter who messed up our order and forgot our drinks. Fortunately someone else took over for him and the service improved. The lack of attention to detail was further demonstrated by the fact that an item that was returned was not subtracted from our bill until it was brought to the waiter’s attention.
Wonderful food; not to miss. Live music makes for a lively experience.
Dear Chloe, We are glad you enjoyed the lively atmosphere and wonderful food at Red Rooster Harlem. Honest comments from our guests are incredibly helpful, and it was kind of you to share your experience. Please join us again the next time you are in the neighborhood! Sincerely, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Really really good food. Great vibe. Great service. Good value with plenty of portions. Good drinks. Tough to beat & a super solid choice. Gotta try it!
5 friends met for Sunday brunch. It was loads of fun and our waiter was extremely welcoming and gracious. The deviled eggs were the best I’ve had maybe ever - the bacon jelly put them over the top.
I had shrimp and grits, two others had the fried chicken sandwich, one had the bucatini with seafood and the fifth had something equally enticing. All meals were delicious as was my peach Bellini and other specialty cocktail drinks.
The ambiance was happy and playful and I’d have to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The only thing that would have made it better would have been to meet Marcus himself.
We made a 930 reservation on a Friday and were surprised to learn that the kitchen closes at 10pm...again on a NYC weekend...that seemed a little conservative...but this was then compounded by subsequently feeling rushed through the meal.
Hi Eric, We are so very sorry that you felt rushed, that should not have occurred. Thank you for being our guest and for bringing this information to our attention. Trust that this issue will be addressed with our entire team - we apologize. Yes, since COVID our hours have been conservative for various reasons, but we hope to be fully restored and back to our ol' selves one day soon. Hoping you will join us again one day soon. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
The food was outstanding and the service was even better. The staff took care of our larger sized party perfectly, including giving special attention to our children who decided to sit together at a separate table so we could comply with social distance regulations.
It may be a little loud for a larger party trying to have a conversation and the food was on the higher priced side for a fried chicken dinner, but it all is worth it once you take your first bite.
Highly recommend everyone give this place at try!
I had fried catfish over black eyed peas, they don't serve rice at all, the fish was good but I would have preferd some starch on my plate as well
The food was delicious and the service was great. I have only one concern ididn't really like the fact some of the servers didn't have a Mask on even though they might be vaccinated but to stay on the safe side I think when handling the customers food a Mask should be worn but other than that I give the Restaurant 4 Stars.
WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! My family was here visiting me from Houston and asked to come here. It was my first time as well. Our server was amazing, efficient and attentive. Our food was delicious and beautifully presented! The manager even stopped by our table to check on us. You don't see that anymore these days. I will definitely be back and it will absolutely be on my list of where to take friends & family that are visiting. Literally NO COMPLAINTS!!
Hello MsNiaB, Whoa - wonderful experience and no complaints - that is absolutely positively fantastic! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed every aspect of your visit and sincerely appreciate your warm recommendation to your friends and family. It is a pleasure to pass along your kind words to our team, and we look forward to your return the next time you are in Harlem. Safe Travels, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
This place is a must. Food was amazing - and we got a variety of items. Fried chicken - yes!!! The catfish and stewed black eyed peas were super flavorful, crispy fish, with a garnish of pickled onions and cucumbers for a nice balance of flavors. The burger and fries were good. The wings (a appetizer that we had as a entree) were sweet and sticky, with a slightly spicy finish. We started the meal with cornbread…. Which, if you don’t get you will be missing out. Oh - and a side of mac and greens - which was a best of both worlds with creamy macaroni and cheese with collard greens mixed in. I could of had this as a meal in itself, but I would have been sad to miss the other items we ordered. We finished the meal with sorbet and strawberry shortcake. There wasn’t a bit threat we had that less than excellent.
Seriously, if you are anywhere close to this restaurant, it is a must to go to. The food it great. The atmosphere is fun and lively.
The food is good if you haven't listened to the hype. If you have you'll be disappointed.
The water was very pleasant. The food was delicious.
Friendly, helpful, good food recommendations. I will return.
Outstanding food and service!
Overall good experience. Service started off pretty slow but picked up and was solid throughout. Food was tasty and came out fast. Prices were on par for a NYC spot. Location was tough and anytime a restaurant needs a security guard be prepared. Not a walkable area at night for some. 😬😬
The restaurant was great. Unfortunately NYC building crews started digging up the street right next to the outdoor dining at 8pm and the outside noise was deafening.
Extremely, impossibly loud!! Fortunately the resourceful hostess managed to find us an outdoor table.
My friend and I had an early reservation for 4:30; the three waitresses in the bar looked at us when we came in, but made no motion to point us to the hostess stand to "check in." She was a bit put off when we asked to sit inside instead of outside, like our reservation was for. Once we were seated, the server and staff were excellent.
The Sweet Potato coconut soup was very good, the fritters and guac pretty good - but unfortunately, the fried chicken was dry, with the outside breading very hard. I think since we were eating very early (to get to a night Yankee game), the chicken might have been made early and kept warm for the first round of dinner guests. We really should have sent the chicken back in, but we were in a bit of a rush.
All in all, we were very disappointed.
We were celebrating my birthday. The main server was excellent but auxiliary servers weren’t on key. The first cup of coffee was cold but it was corrected. Steak knife was not brought with the steak nor a spoon with the shrimp and grits. The main server corrected the problem. The noise level was high and I wish we’d sat at a table outside. The food was outstanding and we would love to eat there again.
The Deviled Eggs were excellent and the the Shrimp and Grits were wonderful. I cook and they were examples of something to strive for. The donuts desert were not stellar but they were fun.
