Red Rooster Harlem Ratings and Reviews
This place does not disappoint. The vibe is amazing, and the food was delicious. Tried the chicken & waffle app and the shrimp & grits entree. Already planning to go back to try out brunch. Highly recommend going here for a wonderful evening great fare and cool music.
The bar staff was phenomenal! Absolutely amazing. I had to wait for a friend so we lost our reservation but were seated anyway. (That was nice)
Bar experience-awesome drinks, great service and I had the delicious deviled eggs. One strange thing was that despite sitting at the bar and being served by the bar tenders two times I had an additional server asking me if I wanted a drink or food order.
The dining experience was rushed. Very very rushed. They clearly wanted to flip the table as soon as possible. I was so annoyed I didn’t even ask for the dessert menu. I wanted to say-why even offer the menu you’ve been dying to flip this table since we sat down. We did have children in our group, but they were quiet and extremely well behaved. (I honestly think it’s because we didn’t order a “drink” for them-to further pad our bill) Our server offered Shirley Temples multiple times to the girls sometimes directly to them even when we said no thanks they will have water.
The burger was good-the ribs were very fatty and over cooked, however the brussel sprouts and cornbread were amazing!
Had an awesome 1st time experience, food was wonderful - portion size and flavor wise. It was noisy, but that shows that customers were enjoying themselves. I would like to see the menu expended as I know Mr. Samuelsson is an fantastic chef. I can also see this restaurant being a hit in Atlanta, GA.
I have wanted to eat here for years-- I am a huge fan of Marcus Samuelsson and of Harlem, and this restaurant is a great homage to the neighborhood. Everything that I ate was delicious; I highly recommend the chicken and waffles and the taco truck meal for two.
Come from Sweden and fun to visit a ”swedish” owned restaurant as Marcus has a good reputation.
Excellent food with good tastes - party of 4 and everyone satisfied with the food
Ribs marvellous and the shrimps with grits excellent
The waiter could have made a better impression.
Nice atmosphere but as fullybooked and live music the noise level high but acceptable
Dined here while on vacation. Corn bread for appetizer was good. I wanted the fried chicken & waffle but server said it would be all wings as out of other pieces so I ordered shrimp & grits as did my dining partner. It was delicious but table that came in after us got beautiful large pieces of fried chicken & waffles, so I was disapponted because of that. Cinnamon roll for dessert was good but more appropriate for breakfast as were some of the other desserts. However, a live funk band started playing in the bar before we finished dinner so we stood in the bar to enjoy the music and that was the highlight of the evening. The band engaged the audience and played a lively mixture of old and new funk & pop music that had audience dancing & singing along. Never caught the name of the band but they were wonderful performers.
We booked two tables on New Year's Eve at 8.30pm. We were rushed through dinner and at 10pm were told to vacate our table. We were given the choice to either pay 50 bucks up front to stay in the restaurant/bar area for a concert or to leave the building - nobody cared to inform us about this when we had made the reservation. After long discussions, we were eventually allowed to hang around at the bar but were not permitted to leave the area - not even to go to the restrooms(!). In general, despite positive earlier experiences with Red Rooster, we were treated in an utterly inacceptable and disrespectful way despite having spent a considerable amount of money on food and drinks. It seemed that the restaurant's only intention during NYE was to squeeze a maximum of profit from their customers.
