Friendly staff, great service, great food and a place i will return too.
Very nice and attentive staff and he food was great!
I was so excited to go but I found the food way overhyped. The cornbread and biscuits were hard as rocks and the beans were undercooked. The Mac and greens were delicious and the chicken was cooked well but overall I didn’t find it worth the money or hype.
Very good! Food and service were great. Restaurant has good vibes. Would definitely do again!
Hostess was friendly. My waitress was amazing. Great overall experience.
We’ve been here twice, both on a Sunday night and have really enjoyed the live music.
The fried chicken is really good, and the vibe is full of life. Fun place to go!
Impeccable service. Food not up to par. Actually mediocre. Music too loud to have a conversation.
felt like a very upscale fast food restaraunt
drinks expensive too
The food was Great! However, the flavor of the chicken on the Fried Royal can be over powering.
Great service this time, she was very helpful and kind. always great food and ambiance.
Definitely going back bring my visiting fiends
The staff was very friendly and treated me extra special, which I appreciated. I loved the biscuits!
Corn bread, deviled eggs, hot chicken n waffle n rooster slam washed down with spicy obamatini, mimosas n Harlem love. Make res but sit at the bar if avail. This is my sat am happy place
Great atmosphere, insanely good food! Would highly recommend a visit, book a table in advance. The bar is also in itself a note worthy destination
Thought the restaurant was beautiful. The service was fantastic. The food was pretty good. However, didn't appreciate them refusing to honor the Restaurant Week deal. Felt it was dishonest. We would of went someplace else if we knew they wouldn't honor the deal. But when you make reservations and show up on time what can you possibly do when an establishment refuses to be honorable? So we stayed and ate.
I really like the relaxed , cozy yet good spirited feel of the evening dinner crowd here. Celebrating my mothers 57th birthday, this is was a homerun with Hot yard chicken, two sides of mac and cheese that was splendid in texture( teaching even my mother a thing or two) who hails from southen USA. Reservations were honored speedily, Chef made an appearance at the table and took photos happily! The dirty sauce was outstanding but portions weren't enough to share. Pitcher of "rooster punch" gave enough of a buzz for increased happiness. Appetizers and sides are the way to go! Will go back to try more dishes, didn't get to have the Flatiron Steak. Birthday girls grin never left her face! Awesome, awesome experience.
I would recommend against ordering the steak, about a third of mine was fat and simply wasn’t worth the price. When I told the waitress that it was fatty, she said she would tell the chef but I never heard back from anyone. However the deviled eggs are amazing and other dishes were good. I’ve had good meals here before, I wish I had stuck to what I knew was good
This is a lively, artistic bistro. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the house salad and squash soup enormously. The corn bread was killer! Even better than the last time I dined here -- now with loganberry compound butter. We loved our desserts - the peanut butter dessert is a chocolate mousse treat with the right amount of delicious peanut butter. My husband enjoyed his tres leches cake (though it is misnamed as it has nothing to do with the Latin dessert with that name). Our one misstep was the "root vegetable lasagna"; it is a vegetable stew with a strong spicy flavor and nothing hinting of lasagna. The staff was wonderful as they offered a replacement. This is an example of how names of dishes is important. There is nothing wrong with this dish, just that neither of us would have ordered it if we understood the flavor profile and lack of noodles.
The food is pretty mediocre. Crab cakes were tasteless and rubbery. The jerk chicken lacked the seasoning that would characterize it as "jerk." I'm all for reinterpretations of classics, but it lacked taste. Very load and crammed in. Animated waitress with great enthusiasm did not make up for a pretty mediocre (and expensive) experience.
Excellent creative food, extremely generous portions for Restuarant Week. Friendly relaxed vibe , aim to please staff. Terrific restaurant.
We did the restaurant week menu which was fantasi
This place was outstanding. Food was delicious and such nostalgic flavors! I could have ordered everything in the menu. The ambiance of the restaurant was so timeless. You felt like you were at someone’s home on an autumn afternoon weekend. It really was such a charming experience.
Amazing ambiance, courtesy and warm friendly staff. A special place for drink (cocktails are simply incredible!) and dinner, serving good, wholesome and tasty food.
Live band shows are frequent and only add to the already groovy atmosphere.
Staff was so nice, they offered a dessert with a candle for my partner's birthday. A real treat!
Thanks a million, we will surely be back!
I don't think the Red Rooster put their best foot forward for restaurant week. Not a good idea for people who haven't been there before and have not incentive to go back.
A lovely space, eclectically designed - loved it. Had to ask for someone to take our order. Bussers very attentive, however. Wait person asked if we wanted corn bread - of course we said yes. Did not know they charge $7 for one piece until the check came. Shrimp & grits was wonderful but my yardbird was way overcooked. Peanut crisp delish but my tres leche was blah. Coffee is great!
Had a friend in town and decided to take her to a more authentic place in Harlem and we had an amazing time! :) My friend said it was the best shrimp and greets she ever had.
The food is delicious, the service was super great and the venue is super accomodating. Will be back for sure.
My husband and I are visiting NYC from Louisiana. This was my second time eating at Red Rooster. It was just as amazing as I remembered. This was my husband's first trip to NYC so it was his first trip to Harlem and Red Rooster. He is still raving about his steak and the Mac & Greens! To top off the excellent meal and service, we also had the blessed opportunity to meet Malik Yoba "Mr. New York Undercover" himself! He graciously spoke with us and even took a selfie. The experience could not have been any better! I highly recommend Red Rooster.
We celebrated a friends birthday and the service was top notch. We appreciated the service that was given to us.
It's been a few years since we've dined at Red Rooster and we felt that the menu items are now more reasonably priced. Hands down - short rib was the favorite. The ambiance is always fun.
Everything we tried was superb! We will definitely go back. The staff was very attentive.
Red Rooster is a lovely place, but I was really disappointed with the food. My shrimp and grits was *very* salty, almost to point of being inedible. My sister had the yardbird, which was fine but not great -- not, as the host had promised, "epic." We had high expectations, maybe too high, and we were both underwhelmed.
Excellent Brunch experience !
We had a wonderful time celebrating my boyfriend ans his best friend’s birthday. The food was incredible and the ambiance was just the right setting. Also loved being able to access the downstairs lounge area for free after our dinner. Highly recommend trying out this place if you haven’t done so already!
Attentive staff explained menu items to our pickiest teenager and gave great recommendations. Delicious food and drinks!
Very nice casual place in Harlem with excellent food as well as services. Unfortunately we went on a rather cold night and a few of the tables weee directly looking at the door. May be they can consider having a bar between the dinning area and the door?
We were celebrating our birthday and a friend suggested Red Rooster Harlem. He spoke very highly of this restaurant so we decided to dine here. My sister saw one of the servers take a rag to clean up something wet on the floor and without washing his hands went back to serving food. Not cool!
I had heard about this restaurant for years, but had been unsuccessful in getting a table until the other day. I was unprepared for their touted squash soup to be sweet: it was topped with honey and walnuts. This was not the restaurant's fault; I don't happen to like my soups sweet. I then ordered the shrimps and grits for my entree. While tasty, it was very salty, which diminished the overall enjoyment. It was good that the soup was filling because there were exactly two shrimp, two slices of okra, and some collard greens over the grits. True, it was rich, but it was only because I had eaten the soup that I was satisfied. Having tasted this dish in Charleston, SC, where the portions are very generous and it seemed impossible to find an eaterie where it wasn't delicious, I was disappointed. Our waitress forgot to put in our drinks order and we didn't get them until we were nearly finished with our entree. There are very few entree options for gluten free. Overall, I wouldn't rush back.
I had a great time (as usual) at red rooster. The staff was great. The food was great. The atmosphere was great. And the drinks were great!
The food and service was good however the portion of the food very small considering the price. Next time will go for appetizers and drink. I left still hungry and I eat like a bird.
Red Rooster is always a great time - great food, wonderful service and a super fun vibe!
It was a great experience as usual at the Red Rooster. The whole fired chicken was amazing. Highly recommended!!!
