I just love coming here. The vibe is glam but neighborly. The food is Southern comfort meets hip Harlem. The staff is all kinds of lovely and professional. And I can’t resist ordering the celebrated fried chicken over and over. Where else serves food where the fireworks - sparks, flame and sparkle - are the real thing.

I always leave thinking about when I’ll be coming back.

Lovely ambience. It was a tad crowded so I almost felt like I was in someone's lap because 2 larger parties were on either side of us (we were a table of 2). I almost wish there was a separate section for larger parties of 4+ people so that it didn't get too shuffled/crazy for couplets of people.

The waiter was a bit distracted and it took nearly 20 mins to get our 1st interaction with him. I didn't mind so much because of the awesome ambience. The food came fairly quickly and it didn't disappoint. The Mac & Greens were to die for. Salty, crusty top layer and delicious, creamy sauce underneath. I ordered the Blackened Catfish & my boyfriend had the Lamb Bolognese. Overall, I can definitely see why it's a hot spot ;)

P.S: As a young Haitian-American woman, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Haitian-kompa & zouk for about 20 minutes during my dining experience. It was a such a surprise - I had to keep myself from dancing in my chair haha! :D

My girlfriend and I, both being first time guests, came to the Red Rooster with very high expectations given the credentials of the owner. I was utterly disappointed to say the least.

Upon arrival we were both greeted with a smile and did not wait long for our reserved table. We were provided water and then the wait began. 15 min later our drink and appetizer orders were taken; the restaurant was all out of mussels, so we needed another minute to decide, which one would think our drinks would have come? No, we did not receive our 1ST DRINK until AFTER receiving our dinner. Two things: any good establishment would notify the wait stuff what they are out of so that the customer can be given a heads up; do not make me wait 15 min to take my appetizer order to find out that you’re out. Also, receiving drinks AFTER dinner has been provided is simply ridiculous. On to the food....

My girlfriend and I do not eat pork but really wanted the catfish; we were told they do not do substitution but we could BUY another side dish???? Really? So everyone eats pork? No they do not, please allow substitutions. She ended up getting the catfish and ordered Brussel sprouts, I got the yardbird....big mistake. The chicken came to the table lukewarm and the skin was very battery, did not taste fresh at all. I had a plate full of honey that instead of being a garnish, was the staple of the plate. Another fail. Let’s get back to drinks and service......

I waited patiently for our waitress to come check on us...did Not happen, and yes I still had my first drink glass, bone dry. I finally stopped our waitress and asked for another drink. My drink again took a very long time to receive and at this point I was done. Funny thing is the two groups that the owner stopped to see were very well taken care of and accommodated. Interesting.

Basically I could have spent $150 elsewhere and in the future I will. Goes to show that being owned by someone famous does not mean good service.

Third time we have been here in last two years. A fun place to bring out of town guests to but the noise level can be unbearable and the only real outstanding food items are the chicken appetizer with waffles and the half or whole chicken for 2 main courses (plus the corn bread). Rest of the menu can be ordinary. Terrific selection of beers . Everybody seems to have a great time here but this is hardly worth some of the hassles of getting a reservation.

We had a great time, the staff were very fun and worked very hard to make sure we had a good time. We shared the yardbird with Mac and cheese - they brought us an order of cornbread because we had to wait at the bar for our table. There was a great band. We will definitely go back.

We booked a table for a Sunday when they have live jazz in the bar. highly recommend it! Get there in time but count on a few minutes- half an hour wait to get the table. As you are waiting just enjoy a beer in the bar with live music and amazing ambience.

Highly recommend this place - will definitely come back!

What a knock out experience, worth a trip out to Harlem. The food is great, typical NY; ribs, caesar salad both fantastically tasty. But the place is very lively, hot in fact. We went on a Friday evening the place was packed and jumping up and down - you have to book 30 days in advance to get in. I noticed it in the Telegraph where there was a photo earlier in the year of Boris Johnson bopping after a meal to a live band, and thought if he makes the effort it must be good - and it was.

We arrived at the Red Rooster early anticipating a night filled with gastronomic delights. A stop at the bar for two dark and stormiest eased the chill of a cold winter night. The mussel pot offered a tangy curry and coconut treat. The “yardbird” royale so tender and spicy delicious. The staff was friendly and very attentive.Don’t be turned away by upscale pricing because the dining experience was worth it.

I met up with some old friends at Red Rooster this week. First, I was super excited to get a reservation since it had been on my list for a while. Red Rooster did not disappoint! We got the crab cakes and cornbread for appetizers and they were fantastic. The cornbread was made like a loaf, buttered and griddled. It was served with more butter and a great tomato compote. The crab cakes were awesome too - freash any meaty without filler.

For a main, we got the yard bird royale which was presented with a giant flaming sparkler - quite the spectacle. It was then carved and ready to eat. Delicious - some of the best fried chicken I've had! It was served with a mac an cheese that had some collard greens inside. I'm not usually a big mac and cheese guy, but this was great! I'm not doing a good enough job describing how good everything was. Every part of the meal was made so well - highly recommended.

I go to Red Rooster every time I’m in NY and have been there 6-8 times over the last few years. I would generally give it 5 stars in every category. Tonight... not so much!

The ambience, the bartenders, the drinks and the music were all just as incredible as always. Our server was also very good and attentive with the appropriate amount of conversation and discretion.

Where things go off the rails starts with the greeter. She essentially dismissed us as we stood waiting for her to even say hello. I had to get her to acknowledge us even though we were standing directly in front of her.

The food, which is why you go to a restaurant just wasn’t up to par. I have traveled all around the world and I frequently tell everyone that Red Rooster is one of my favorites places to eat. But tonight, the Mac and Greens literally had zero greens. Which is core to the dish because the mac and cheese is seasoned (I’m guessing) to have the extra punch of the greens. I normally love this dish, but not tonight. The Brussel sprouts were very excessively cheesy and creamy. I couldn’t get through more than half of the dish, it was just way too much! The cornbread was good though. 😏

I hope their leadership reads this and finds a way to meet with the staff and review their processes, people and food. I don’t want to have to find a new Thursday night spot on my frequent trips to NYC!

All was good except the waiters and waitresses at the table rushed us throughout the entire meal and, several times even took our plates with food before we were done. The bar service was excellent but the restaurant does not deserve 1 star.

We met friends visiting from California and I’ve been wanting to go to Red Rooster. It really is must go to place! Wait staff were on us like white in rice. Energy level was pumped up. Maybe just a smidge too loud as you cannot have a conversation. Couple of things - we felt rushed along. Would have liked a drink first rather than ordering apps - oh! And then maybe a drinker poo! I ordered ribs which I would say were fair. The potato chip app was awesome. I think it best to order their yardbird (chicken) very good. Would go back but my husband says - for lunch.

We had excellent time at Red Rooster. The wait staff was very kind, thoughtful and considerate. We had some dietary restrictions and the waitress went above and beyond to check and make sure there were no hidden ingredients as well. We shared the crabcake and chicken & waffle appetizers. They were absolutely delicious. Our entrees were good (Lamb Bolognese & Jerk Chicken), but not as delicious as the appetizers. Overall we spent a pretty penny but it was totally worth every dime. There was also an amazing live band playing that really brought up the energy of the space and had me dancing in my seat while eating. Highly recommend!
