The chicken and waffles was off da chain!!! 😋❤❤
The food was awesome, the waiter was very attentive, music created a great ambience. I recommend the deviled eggs, cornbread, and the fried chicken. You won’t be disappointed.
Food was fantastic.
So much energy service attentive and
So much fun. Yardbird was a little off
I took my nephew and his partner out for dinner and this was their requested restaurant. Everything was exceptional, they loved it! As always it was a great experience.
Dear Mark, We think your nephew and his partner have great taste in restaurants!! Thank you for being a fan and for your stellar review. We love to hear that you consistently enjoy a great Red Rooster experience – exactly as it should be! Please do visit again soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Friends took me out to celebrate my birthday. We had an awesome all around experience. Thank you for maintaining a high level of excellence.
Dear Touristy, Wow! This really sounds like a wonderful night, and we are so happy that we could be part of your celebration. Great food and great friends are a beautiful combination, and we hope you can all join us again soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
The food was great!
The service was wonderful!
Id definitely return
We had a lovely evening entertaining out of town guests. The server was excellent in addressing a food allergy. The drinks and food were delicious, inventive, in line with a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. The Live music although energetic, was a little loud on occasion.
We had a great meal! I had read marcus’s biography many years ago and really enjoyed the restaurant and being NYC after a number of years!
I'm so sad to report that the food was just not great at all. I ordered the pan fried catfish anticipating really great seasoned food and it had no taste. The same happened with the crab cakes we ordered. The food was overall a disappointment, but our waiter was excellent.
Hello, Thank you for being our guest. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed excellent service, but we also wanted you to enjoy amazing flavors, too. We sincerely apologize for having missed the mark and for leaving you with an uneven impression. Guest feedback is invaluable to us, and we are grateful you shared. It is our belief that you caught us on an off day, and we hope you will consider giving us a second chance the next time you are in the area. Warmly, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Food was pretty good. Neil our server was excellent, my cocktail Kings Blood needed some more alcohol 🍸
Food was delicious - but, the service was incredibly slow. Still a great meal.
Sunday brunch was beyond amazing, the food, the service, the live music. I loved everything.
Dear Jan, Fantastic news! This is the exact Sunday brunch experience we aim for and it's great to hear that we hit the mark while you were with us. Thanks for being a part of that warm Red Rooster energy and for your stellar review. We hope you will visit again soon. Best, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
The staff was so incredibly kind and accommodating to us! We were so grateful to sit inside and listen to the choir who made our day super special. The food was outstanding, even with the restaurant being super busy it came out fast and hot, exactly as ordered. Our cocktails were strong and delicious.
Thank you, we are so glad to see you open and bringing joy to your diners!
Thank you, CityKD, for being so kind (and, of course, for joining us over the weekend). Your review just made our hearts so happy. It was our pleasure having you as our guest, and we sincerely hope that you will join us again the next time you are in the neighborhood. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Amazing wonderful experience! If you are in the city you need to come here. Wonderful energy and live music for brunch! Best cornbread I’ve ever had in my life. Must go!
Thanks for spreading the good word about your amazing brunch visit and our delicious cornbread ~ wow, wow wow! We appreciate your wonderful review, and we hope you will join us again the next time you are in town. Cheers! The Red Rooster Team
For me to learn via others’ culinary perspectives I need to remove myself from my biases (foods I love.) Here are two of my ways of doing it. (1) Question to serve: “If I passed away tomorrow and this would be my last meal, what would you pick on the menu? (2) Cross-reference method: ask bartender, guest at bar, and waiter what they recommend on menu. At this visit to Red Rooster Harlem I went with option number two and they all said — Bucatini Piccadilly.
From the unanimous decision from my three sources (which also led to other pleasant conversation) I ordered the bucatini Piccadilly which embraces the crustaceans (crab, lobster, and shrimp) with garden herbs, tomato, and asparagus. However, we also had the guac, cornbread (a pound cake like dream), yardbird by the piece (loved it) collard greens, fries, and strawberry short cake. So recommend this culinary approach, as you get to meet amazing people and learn what they love. One thing that is evident at Red Rooster Harlem. Exquisite!
Hello DineFuss, We absolutely love your approach to making menu selections ~ what a great idea! That is a great way of honing in on the employee favorites for sure. Thank you for being our guest and for posting your fun and fabulous review ~ we appreciate it. Please do join us again the next time you are in the area. Cheers! The Red Rooster Team
Great food…great atmosphere
Fantastic food, excellent service. Really lives up to the hype. Highly recommend, and can't wait to go back.
I enjoyed the different flavors especially the guacamole.
Was so relieved to find Red Rooster had survived the pandemic. Our server, Michael, was cool and excellent. The dishes - fried chicken and waffles, sweet potato and coconut soup - were all up to this institution’s high standards. Recommend the bourbon Negroni from the cocktail list. They take safety procedures very seriously.
The food was yummy, as expected. the decor and music provide a nice vibe. But the service was outstandin and especially attentive with transitions, etc.

Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Delicious southern inspired food with delightful twists that felt fresh and innovative while staying true to the core identity of the dish. The deviled eggs were delightfully creamy and perfectly balanced with the acidity from the pickled relish on top. The cornbread is easily the best I've had in NYC paired with the whipped salted butter it could have been a meal on its own and I enjoyed it so much I ordered the Cornbread and gravy dish from the brunch menu, which was surprisingly lighter than I anticipated with a coconut milk based gravy with turmeric and curry, paired with chorizo sausage for a bit of spice that perfectly complimented the sweet cornbread base. Others in our group ordered the fried chicken which was juicy and crispy with a lightly breaded skin. The sides were all delicious as were the drinks. Overall the experience was excellent.
Mr. Samuelsson has done a very good job of marketing his restaurant. Perhaps at one time it was worth visiting; sadly, it's a giant tourist trap with overpriced so-so food and extremely loud music blaring, making it hard to hold a conversation unless one screams! Wine is very overpriced and not very good, at least by the glass. The least expensive wine bottle was almost $60. Our experience was disappointing and not worth a second visit.
We are deeply sorry to learn about your experience. Our team never meant to disappoint you so profoundly. Red Rooster Harlem prides itself on flavor forward dishes, professional service, and a unique atmosphere that brings people together for a memorable dining experience. It saddens us that you did not feel that way about your visit. We appreciate your honest feedback, and we hope you will accept our sincerest apologies for not providing a worthwhile visit. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
This is genuinely the best restaurant I have ever been to. This meal was also the best meal of my entire life. We initially were being seated upstairs by the bar but it was quite noisy so the hostess offered to seat us downstairs where it is much more quiet. Our waiter was very attentive, gave us good recommendations for the food, and was overall very friendly. For the appetizer we had the incredible ceviche which I would highly recommend. For entrees, I had the jerk salmon bowl and my partner had the steak frites. The steak was the best steak I’ve ever had, my partner got it medium well and it was incredible, although the waiter did recommend to try medium rare at some point because the outside is quite cooked but the inside is nice and juicy that way. The sauce on the salmon was incredible as was everything else in the bowl. The drinks there are also quite strong and also delicious, so you only need 2 max if you want to be tipsy. One alone will make you feel good though. For dessert we had the ice cream and it was freshly made. It was certainly a lot but it was quite delicious so we finished it all. The ambiance of the restaurant is also so beautiful. Everything about it just made it such a strong and culturally enriching experience. It’s beautiful to see this type of place in Harlem. We deserve more like it. 10/10 recommend.
Dear Jae, Thank you for being our guest. Your generous review very humbling and is appreciated. Thoughtful comments mean the world to us and help us to be our best. We love the descriptive words you used to highlight all the areas of your experience, for they will certainly encourage others to come by! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you again when you are in the area. Cheers, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Our server was very sweet. The Crispy Bird sandwich was very tough. The highlight of meal was the cornbread! We also didn’t feel very comfortable in the area due to very large noisy crowds right at entrance to restaurant.
I love red rooster
We selected Red Rooster based on all of the stellar reviews. We came to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Our experience overall was awful. The bright spots were the hostess and the wall art. Everything else was extremely subpar. First, the service was awful. Our reservation was for 3:00pm, we arrived right at 3:00pm, and were seated outside per our reservation. The outside space was too small for our party of 5, and super noisy, so we requested to be moved inside. We were moved inside with no problem. We had to sign a covid waiver which was fine. Once inside we were given water, then we sat for 30 minutes waiting for our orders to be taken. Finally, our waiter arrived and we ordered appetizers and our meals. We ordered corn bread, chicken wings, grits, greens, four of us had the catfish and one had the steak. The cornbread was dry and bland, the chicken wings didn’t have a good flavor and were over cooked (Popeyes’ chicken is one thousand times better), the catfish was very bland and sitting on top of black eyed peas that were swimming in tomato sauce, the greens and grits were “ok”. My 14-year old daughter liked her steak and my husband thought the catfish was “ok”. My two young adult children and I all hated the catfish dish. We were so disgusted with the overall experience that we left without ordering dessert (we love trying different desserts) and went home and ordered pizza. $220+ dollars later, what an enormous disappointment. Bad service and bad, overpriced food does not a winning combination make. Either the restaurant purchased all of these glowing reviews, or we caught them on a really, really bad day. I think the former is probably accurate. Well, we tried it and will never return.
Excellent food, friendly service and a great atmosphere
Service was quick and efficient, while staff still being friendly and warm. Had a wonderful time and will definitely return.
Overall good experience, they took all covid safety precautions...the staff was friendly and accommodating. I personally didn’t care for the food dishes I had they weren’t horrible just wasn’t prepared to my liking but the manager stepped in and made it right and the music was everything!!!
A lovely meal. Delicious and presented beautifully. The jerk salmon was prepared perfectly, the wait staff was attentive and the patio ambience was great. It was a hot day but fans provided a cooling effect. We loved the entire experience!
We are happy you loved your entire experience. At Red Rooster Harlem, we strive to satisfy every guest with amazing dishes, a unique atmosphere, and exemplary service. We were gratified to read that we had met these expectations when you joined us. Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your thoughts. Your kind comments are genuinely appreciated, and we look forward to having you as our guest again. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Took the servers advise and it was spot on. The Uptown Guacamole and Deviled Eggs - great starters. The specialty drinks likewise.
Wings and cauliflower did not disappoint. Both exceptional flavor and the right amount of spice. Same for the blistered tomatoes.
The asparagus looked like they had either been warmed over or just leftover. And the Mac/ Greens w Lobster should have been piping hot which it was not and could have used a bit of salt. But there was plenty of lobster. Portions are generous.
Thanks, BarbaraB2, for being our guest and for sharing your honest and detailed feedback. It appears that overall you left us on a positive note despite having an uneven food experience. Your review will be shared with our culinary team. It is our hope that you will join us again the next time you are in the area and allow us the opportunity to provide you with a perfect visit. Sincerely, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Our food was outstanding. However, the service was terrible. They may have been short staffed, but when our waitress did occasionally show up, she was unengaged and sullen. The hostess was very nice and apologetic when my husband had to twice seek her out to get our water refilled after waiting 15 minutes.
We have eaten at the Red Rooster before and had a wonderful experience.
As I said, the food was great, but the overall experience was marred by poor service.
Cool relaxed vibe inside. Outside was quite the opposite. We didn’t feel comfortable or safe and were eager to get into our Uber and head back downtown.
Drop into Harlem after unexpected layover. Great experience as always.
Layovers are great when you can figure out a way to get to Harlem and dine at Red Rooster! That's great news! Thank you so much for popping in and we hope to see you again the next time you are in town. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Over priced food was not that Good
Loved celebrating my birthday lunch at Red Rooster! The staff was so friendly, the food was delicious, and the vibe is a mix of trendy, artistic, and cultural. 10/10 would recommend (and do) to everyone!
Jamie, we are extremely glad you enjoyed your birthday experience at Red Rooster! Such fabulous news! It was our pleasure having you as our guest, and we are flattered to be a part of such a special memory. Please do join us again the next time you are in the area. Warmly, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
I can't wait to eat here again, and try everything I didn't have the first time. All the food was perfectly seasoned. The chicken and waffles were a standout, as were the sweet potato soup, mac and greens, jerk salmon bowl and steak frites. The juicy chicken leg had the crispiest, most delicious skin, and the waffle was crisp outside and tender within. The soup was complex and interesting while being light enough for warm weather eating.
The service was fast and attentive in an interesting space, and there was live music. We came in an Uber from central Queens in a thunder-and-lightning downpour, and we'd do it again because it was that good.
Great casual dining, eclectic decor and energetic vibe with live jazz music which is great for the bar area. However, the noise level was a little too loud for the dining area. The drinks were innovative but overpriced. The cuisine is just as I anticipated-a refined culinary experience!
Ambiance was excellent and we had a lovely table but the food overall was lackluster and the service was basic.
