Delicious food and great service!
Their smashed burger was amazing and the staff were very friendly
Delicious food, gracious servers, reasonable prices, great socially distant table arrangement (thick plexiglass between tables), well-heated. Some street noise given its location near a busy intersection of Harlem. Can’t wait to return!
Dear Dennis, Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your experience. We are relieved to read that you were completely satisfied with our social distancing and safety measures we have put in place for our guests. We’re also thrilled to read how much you enjoyed our delicious food and gracious service. Please know that your feedback means a lot to us, and we are grateful you shared it. Looking forward to having you as our guest again one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Food is WAY OVERPRICED to be so MEDIOCRE. The service was great. If it’s gonna be outdoor dining due to covid they should definitely invest in more heaters and lower the prices to show appreciation to the customers that are still eating there
The outdoor set up is very well done and the service was tremendous!
Dear Brian, Thank you so much for your kind review. We are thrilled to read that you enjoyed our outdoor set up, as well as our top-notch service (we think we have the best service team in Harlem!). We would love to welcome you back for another great experience one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
In the age of COVID there are few benefits for anyone...especially for restaurants struggling to survive these during winter months. One such benefit diners would be wise to take advantage of is the comparative ease it is to book and modify brunch reservations at this popular eatery. The current outside seating tent is airy but moderately heated and the floor to (near) ceiling partitions provide a sense of collective PPE and audio privacy. The chicken and waffles (or should I say "yardbird") remains a brunch favorite as does their spicy margarita. Albeit, for the former, I would wish for them to discontinue the use of what looks to be steroid enhanced drumsticks which...while visually appealing for the hunger eye...never quite tastes like the natural thing. The grits are divine. All in all a yummy outing.
Coming to “Red Rooster” I expected high quality service as I’ve had when it first open but I didn’t get that. The food was good (jerk salmon & steak frites) but the drinks wasn’t good at all. I had to return both drinks. I know the pandemic messed up certain things but this is a high caliber restaurant and I expect more. I probably won’t be returning because it is now over rated.
Oh and I was served a purple colada that tasted like milk or watered milk (it was bad)... I was confused. Please input on the menu that Sorrel is in this drink.
I've been meaning to try out the cuisine for over a year and finally made time. It mostly lived up to the hype. Their take on guac was very good and their cornbread was close to perfect.
It was cold but they have outdoor heaters. Those provided uneven heat so unless you are directly under one you need to bundle up.
The entree portions were large so bring an appetite. The food was well done bit could have arrived hotter.
Service was average, the server was pleasant but the waits were longer than they needed to be with limited communication.
I would return if I have the urge and its definitely worth a visit.
Very disappointed food was not good and overpriced
I had the fried catfish with black eyed beans which was delicious. My wife had roasted Brussels sprouts and was disappointed. The menu said roasted Brussels sprouts, so she assumed the dish was hot, but it was cold. She was disappointed.
We are happy to learn that you enjoyed your catfish, but we are sorry to learn that your wife left us feeling disappointed - our apologies. Please trust it was never our intention to let her down, and your review will be shared with our team. Informing our guests that our Brussels spouts dish is served cold is great feedback, and we very much appreciate your bringing this to our attention. Hopefully this incident will not deter you from joining us again one day. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
The ambience was pretty decent. It was outside in a heated tent. The tables were separated with a fair amount of space and some seats had a glass divider. The service was pretty good. Everyone wore masks and the food and drinks were delivered timely. I had the chicken and waffles which was delicious! The chicken were pretty big. I also had the crab cake which was good also. In all, I would recommend. In the age of COVID, I felt pretty safe eating at this restaurant. Would recommend.
The outside seating was warm and inviting. The service was energetic and ready to assist. The food was delicious and fresh. Everyone including the staff were excited to be there.
Service was great. Fried chicken and greens and catfish is all so delish!
Hi Eva, Thank you for taking the time to give such fantastic feedback on your visit to Red Rooster Harlem. We deeply appreciate your highlighting our incredible entrées and great service! We hope you will visit us again soon - Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Nothing exceptional here except the service which was great. Outside dining was fine. I ordered pan friend catfish with black eyed peas and cucumber salad. The latter was a thing slice of cucumbers over the fish fillet. Pan frying Ok as were the peas. But the food was bland with nothing exceptional about it. No need to travel to this restaurant. If you live in the neighborhood it is over priced.
Hi Lolap, Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your thoughts. Your appreciative comments on the service you received at Red Rooster Harlem were wonderful; we will be sharing your review with our team! However, we are deeply sorry to hear that not all our dishes met the same high level of excellence; please accept our apologies as it was our intention to "wow" you in every way. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and will use them to improve. Warmly, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Great food! With heating outside made a great night
Food and service exceptional. It was very cold out and the heaters were good so that may have effected my ambiance rating. Would definitely go back.
Spent Christmas here on the heated sidewalk patio, thrilled they were open. It was packed but we stayed for well over two hours and never felt rushed. I’m vegetarian and had many dishes to choose from, chose multiple plates to share and loved every one. Best grits I’ve ever had, and the mac and greens were a great flavor twist on mac and cheese. Excellent cocktails, too. And oh, my date became my girlfriend later that night so I can definitely say Red Rooster set the stage for something special.
The food was just ok. I think I was expecting amazing given the reviews I had read. Was just ok No need to go back.
Christmas Eve during this pandemic sucks. Many can’t go visit family due to Covid and we are of those families. We felt depressed by the idea of cooking together in our small Manhattan apt. So, we went to Red Rooster. We love this place, generally, but we really appreciated the food, outdoor dining with headlamps, service and contactless pay. The food is world renown, so the menu didn’t fail that expectation. The ambiance and attention to detail was far more than we bargained for on Christmas Eve during the worst pandemic in over 100 years! Good job!
We really, really wanted to love this place! The food was good but the ambiance was horrible!! My husband and I had to rush to eat our food because it was so cold and we just wanted to hurry up and get out of there. The website claims to have an “amazing outdoor patio”. Please tell me what is so amazing about it?! And those overhead cheap heaters at every other table and that flimsy tent does not cut it. We will not be going back under those conditions. Customers are paying a lot of money for your food and drinks. Please do better!! We deserve better!!
Dear Rand, We are so deeply sorry that your experience was not enjoyable, please trust that our team is doing all that they can to make the best of this awful situation. We are actually quite proud of our outdoor patio that allows us to serve our loyal guests and the fact that we can keep our team members employed while many other restaurants are closing down for good. Nonetheless, it was never our intention to disappoint you so profoundly, and we hope you will accept our sincere apology.
The food was very good. I had the Shrimp and Grits with a side waffle. The waffle was everything :-) The service was okay. With it being outside, you would think the servers would be more hospitable. Also, the heating lamps were not working well. It was quite cold. I would visit again when things open up more and we can eat inside. Hopefully that would be better for all.
Hi Dania, Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your experience. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your food; however, we are sorry to learn that your server was not as friendly as one would expect. Warm hospitality is the cornerstone of our restaurant and we are sincerely sorry to have let you down. Please know we will be discussing your observations with our team later today. Your feedback is very important to us, and we are thankful you shared. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
Another fabulous meal. So sad the restaurants are being shut down. Again.
Hi there, Thanks for coming in and showing your support, we really appreciate it. Some good news - Red Rooster is now offering Take Out via Open Table and through our website, and we are hoping to have delivery service up and running by the first week in January, so you will still be able to enjoy all your Rooster favorites at home (or on our heated patio) for the time being. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and we're looking forward to a better 2021! Cheers, The Red Rooster Team
Restaurant was clean and welcoming. The bartender German amazing and made great drinks. Highly recommended
Great vibe, creative/ tasty/ healthy comfort food, terrific friendly service with strong COVID precautions in place.
Very nice atmosphere. Food was good portions could of been a bit larger . Overall I would highly recommend this place. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Great food and service as usual. Even though there were fewer patrons than usual the happy vibe was ever present.
The host was friendly and welcoming and the waiter was amenable.
Thank you again for your outstanding comfort food and congeniality at this perplexing time.
Cathy
Wonderful service
They went above and beyond to make sure we where taken care of
amazing food we will be back
The food was average nothing spectacular. I was disappointed. The service was great, could do better with social distancing. Overall I wish I had taken my husband somewhere else for his birthday.
Food was beyond amazing. Everything tasted great. The service was also wonderful. We sat outside and even though it was a little chilly and raining, the outside dining set up was so nice that it didn't affect our experience.
Pleasant Experience, I will definitely return. Menu is a beautiful combination of southern and Middle Eastern, which is a nice change of pace.
I heard of this establishment from a Buzzfeed series and had to try the Yard Bird. I was not disappointed. The price point of the menu is amazing considering how up-class the building looks. Good drinks and good service also, definitely a date night success.
We love reading about Red Rooster date night successes! Thank you, Walker, for being our guest and for sharing your experience here on Open Table. We are genuinely delighted that you were not disappointed and we hope to welcome you back as our guest again soon. Cheers, The Red Rooster Team
Delicious. Great Ambiance. Good value. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I went to celebrate Thanksgiving this year at Red Rooster because we live nearby and they offering a somewhat traditional Thanksgiving meal. We were a bit bummed to not be going to visit our family but we felt it was too risky to attend a family get-together in light of the Covid outbreaks. We didn’t envision enjoying Thanksgiving outside at a restaurant but I guess that just goes with the trajectory of weirdness from this year. We really lucked out, though, at Red Rooster in that we were able to sit outside with the weather being mild and clear indulging in a meal that clearly is far and above the standards of what we normally have on the holiday. We ordered the Thanksgiving pre-fix meal for two where we were able to indulge in a platter consisting of fried turkey, maple glazed yams, stewed collard greens, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing / dressing in addition to the restaurant’s famous Mac & greens and cornbread with tomato butter. The food had unique preparations (i.e. a sweet crispy skin on the turkey and a uniquely seasoned light gravy) and was so delicious I didn’t miss having cranberry sauce with the turkey or green bean casserole. The meal was topped off with a plate of desserts consisting of various cookies and cakes made with autumnal ingredients like pumpkin and apples. Unfortunately, we were too full after eating dinner to eat any of those at the restaurant but were were able to take them home and nibble on them in the days thereafter. It was a really nice experience in light of what has been a challenging year. I also appreciate the great effort the place has taken to instill Covid precautions (i.e. temp checks and hand sanitizer at the front, glass dividers and heat lights for outdoor seating) without compromising the fun ambiance.
I also appreciate how the place chose to forgo delivery and takeout early on in the Covid crisis and quietly retooled to give out free meals to people in need with dignity. I highly recommend.
A challenging year, indeed, Rebecca. We are so glad that your Thanksgiving dinner at Red Rooster was better than you had anticipated, and you wholeheartedly enjoyed it. We know that most of our holiday guests would have rather been at home surrounded by close family and friends, but we were grateful to be able to do our part and provide a five star non traditional memory during a non traditional year. Better days are ahead, and we hope to have you back to celebrate the pandemic's dilution.
Staff was welcoming, Professional and accommodating. The food and cocktails were top notch. The ambience although casual definitely has a vibe that’s elevated, edge at the same time. Love the painted apron and Jackets highly recommended
Loved it !!! Great Thanks Giving !! Will be back !!! April was AMAZING!
Dear Milton, We are thrilled to read how much you loved your Red Rooster Thanksgiving visit and your service from April. We are very thankful you were our guest, and we are looking forward to your return. Have a wonderful holiday season, The Red Rooster Team
The Prefixed Thanksgiving menu was phenomenal! In addition to the food the hot wine beverage (can't recall if it was named) was sooooo delightful. Hope it wasn't only offered for the holiday as I plan to return to endulge. The attentive & polite service was experienced on all levels! You guys should be a "blueprint" for how an awesome dining experience should look/feel. Can't wait to visit again soon.
Hi Shane, Thank you for celebrating Thanksgiving with us this year, we are humbled to be a part of such a special holiday memory. The delicious cocktail you are referring to is our Warm Swedish Glogg made with: red wine, port, vodka, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. This drink is currently on our beverage menu, so definitely make some plans to return and indulge. We are grateful for your wonderful support. Hope to see you soon, The Red Rooster Team
This was a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner eating out at experience! Delicious food, great customer service and good vibes. Despite the challenging times we are living in at the moment, Red Rooster did their best to give a great experience on Thanksgiving Day 2020. I will definitely be back and I wish Red Rooster a very Blessed New Year!
There we no accomadations for vegans. and could not add on anything (pay full price) additional sides. so I ate mash potatos and greens assuming they were vegan.
Ordered Thanksgiving dinner prix fixe for takeout. Food came in nice Red Rooster bags. Portions were great. Mac n cheese, turkey, mashed potatoes, collard greens, butternut squash, cornbread, and assorted croissants and baked goods for dessert. Worth the price. Not hoping for another quarantine Thanksgiving, but if it happens — I’d order from here again.
The fried chicken was a little bit dry--think it sat under the heat lamps a little too long. The deviled eggs were fantastic.
Oh no, Lloyd, we are very sorry to learn your chicken was a bit dry. Our chicken should be always be served as Chef intended: piping hot with a crispy exterior, full of flavor, and juicy, juicy juicy. Please accept our apologies and trust that you caught us on an off evening. It is our sincere hope that you will join us again and allow us the opportunity to provide you with our best version of this signature dish. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, The Red Rooster Team
