I have eaten at Red Rooster several times and this was by far the best experience. The food quality was much more elevated than it was a while back. Great job!
Great news, JCeatsUWS! Thank you for being our guest on several occasions, and thank you for providing your fabulous feedback - we deeply appreciate your kind words. Please do join us again the next time you are in the area. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Traveling to NYC. Excellent food, cornbread was out of this world
Thank you, very much for being our guest and for letting us know how much you enjoyed our excellent food, especially our signature cornbread. It was our pleasure having you join us, and we hope you will come again the next time you are in NYC. Wishing you safe travels, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Food and service were excellent. I had the guacomole appetizer then fried catfish.
Great choices, Alice! Thank you very much for joining us, and for sharing your wonderful feedback. We are glad you came by, and we hope you will join us again the next time you are in the neighborhood. Cheers! The Red Rooster Team
Low lights, good food, shrimp&grits. Sister had seafood with pasta bowl. (Bucatini Piccadilly) Both very good. Appetizers were deviled eggs and sweet potato & coconut soup, yum& yum.deviled eggs were so smooth, lightly sweetened, delicious!! Drinks, "yes chef," good but no buzz. "Passion in Harlem," good but in a very small martini like glass.music.the bomb, especially the last set. Waiter, Neil, nice and attentive, knowledgeable re menu and drink choices. Only negative, the strawberry shortcake had no sweetness, not even in the strawberries, but, when I disapproved, it was taken off my bill. This was my 2nd visit. I plan to return again soon. The company was a mixed crowd. We sang what words we knew,as band played Stevie wonder,Teddy Pendergrass, and "native new Yorker"
We had a really good time.
Food is always delicious at this Harlem staple.
Awsome Salmon, great location, great enviroment. Highly reccomend
The staff and manager was outstanding!!! Menu was limited, but still good.
Hi Tori, We are very happy to read that our front of house team was outstanding! It is our belief that we have the best team in Harlem, and we are glad you were pleased with their service. Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your wonderful feedback. It is our wish that you will join us again the next time you are in the area. Cheers! The Red Rooster Team
Went here for dinner for a ladies night out. The service, food and drinks were great. The AC could have been turned up a bit more as it was a bit warm inside the restaurant.
Love the atmosphere great ambiance. Very romantic and cozy.
We love that you loved our atmosphere and great ambiance - such fabulous news! Having our guests feel comfortable in our restaurant is very rewarding to us, and we are thrilled that we succeeded. Thank you for being our guest, and for sharing your amazing feedback. Please do join us again the next time you are in the area. Cheers, The Red Rooster Team
Visiting with a good friend from Canada. Hadn’t seen since COVID began.
I was disappointed in the food, service and noise level. I expected more as it was Marcus Samuelson’s signature restaurant. Nothing was too bad but I wouldn’t recommend it or go again. It got me up to Harlem which was fun and good to experience. So that’s a positive.
You were correct in having high expectations from Red Rooster, and we are saddened to learn we did not deliver. Thank you for letting us know about your visit, for it is only with honest feedback from our guests that we can understand where we went awry. Harlem is definitely a fun place to visit, and it is our hope that if ever you are in the area again, that you will consider joining us and allowing us the opportunity to "wow" you in every way. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
The deviled eggs and corn bread were very good. We ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. They had left the paper on the cheese, so when I hit into the burger, a large piece of paper came out. Yuck. The sandwich, once I pulled the paper out of the burger, was good. I asked the waiter to let the chef know, and no one acknowledged the issue. The donuts were dry.
I would recommend the restaurant with a warning - check your food before eating.
We sat at the bar and Ibrahim took great care of us with the cocktails and amazing food !!!
One of my favorite spots in Harlem. My sister/friend and I had birthday lunch celebration.
We started with the deviled eggs, they were delicious.
We both had the jerk salmon bowl which was outstanding, will definitely have both again.
Lovely place for a birthday lunch.
Band was amazing and the servers made us feel so so special! Love eating here.
Great food, service, and overall vibe. Had a wonderful experience.
I had the shrimp and grits and a froze. Usually when I go out to eat I always have a take home bag! Not this time, I literally LICKED my plate clean it was AMAZING! I’ll be bringing back some out of town friends in December! My friends had the burger and fries and loved it!
We were seated very quickly, the hostess was pleasant. The waitress was very pleasant also. We decided to order the 20 piece chicken to share. The serving of this was crude, to say the least. The garlic mash was mixed with the fake box potato mash. The mac & cheese was heavily saturated in butter. The chicken was decent, but the plating was just obnoxious. The cornbread was stale and dry. Definitely was not worth it. I have been a customer for many years, but I will not be making this trip again anytime soon.
Sassy, we are deeply saddened to read about your recent visit. As a guest for years, then you know that this is extremely out of character for us and we sincerely apologize. Please trust that it was our intention to provide you with the same experience that has brought you back to us for many years, and we are so sorry we did not deliver this time. We hope you will accept our apology, and join us again one day in the future and allow us the opportunity to restore your faith in our cuisine.
I loved the service, very attentive and helpful. The Jazz trio Sunday was dynamic the food was the best.
We had reservations for two at 2:30 and arrived at 2:25. We asked for outdoor seating and were taken to a table directly in the sun even though there was an empty table in the shade. We were told that THAT particular table was "reserved". There were also 3-4 tables with seats for 4 available. After a few sweltering minutes I asked to speak to the manager and she promptly sat us at one of the larger tables but said we had 90 minutes to vacate. She also said that one could come to the restaurant and reserve a particular table. I find that hard to believe. I was tempted to ask the couple who eventually took THAT table if they had requested it specifically but decided it wasn't worth making an unpleasant experience worse. Whatever. We asked for printed menus twice and finally got one menu. Cocktails arrived. Great. However, the second round was missing a key ingredient and the waiter didn't inform us before placing the order. He said he knew it was all out. Overall, the food did not live up to the hype. The collard greens were watery, more like collard green soup. The fried chicken had an unexpected and unwelcome sweet undertone, like it was dipped in sweet cornbread batter. The $28 lobster roll was more like a big slider and not worth the $. I'd rather wait to get that in Maine or Wood's Hole. I loved the Red Rooster atmosphere;the live entertainment and ambience were spectacular. I recommend going once for drinks and appetizers.
The food is delicious and the environment is warm and joyous
Our environment is warm and joyous thanks to kind guests like you. Thank you, so much, for being our guest and for sharing your amazing feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your time with us, and we sincerely hope you will join us again one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
A wonderful if not incredible Sunday brunch experience
Great food & drinks, but the live gospel music was WAY too loud in such a small indoor space. We couldn’t hear ourselves speak and made the experience less enjoyable.
Hi, We're so happy that you joined us for brunch. Delicious food and great drinks are important parts of our guest experience, but so is the atmosphere. We are sorry to learn that the Gospel music made it difficult for you to enjoy your conversation. We love the excitement that our music program generates, but we understand your frustration when it impedes on your conversation - our apologies. We hope you will join us again one day when we do not have live music. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
We have gone to RR since it's opening, but the quality post-pandemic is mediocre uninspired food. This is not even a poor imitation of the food Chef Samuelson originally served there. Better off going to Sylvia's down the street, where the food and service are consistently good & not at "fine dining" prices.
Hi Michael, We are disappointed to read about your recent visit to Red Rooster. It is our goal to consistently provide delicious - flavor forward inspired cuisine, and we are sorry for coming up short. Your honest feedback is important to us and we are thankful you took the time to share it, especially as a long time guest. It is our hope that you will have a change of heart one day in the future and give us another chance to restore your faith in our restaurant. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
The menu has changed a bit since my last visit, however it was still tasty. We had the crab cake appetizer, the pan fried catfish, steak frites, mac n greens, and 2 pieces of fried chicken. I loved how crispy the fried chicken was. I ordered mocktails and was disappointed in how overpriced they were. We had to wait way too long for our second round of drinks. We sat outside and at times I couldn’t hear my date and I was sitting next to him, not across from him.
Hi Jakora, Thank you for returning; yes, our menu does adjust seasonally, and we are glad you still found it to be tasty. We very much appreciate your honest feedback regarding your recent visit. Please trust that we wanted everything to be absolutely perfect and we are sorry we missed the mark a tad. We hope that this less than perfect visit will not deter you from joining us again one day in the future. We'd love the opportunity to provide a flawless visit. Warmly, The Red Rooster Harlem
We have heard nothing but great things about Res Rooster. We live Marcus Samuelson on all the cooking shows. It didn’t disappoint. The drinks the food so great. What made the experience even better was our waiter Cedric. He was so great. He was fun, and very patient with us Californians!! He was funny, and kind. I would go back just to see Cedric!!
We love when we hear from our guests that Red Rooster lived up to their expectations, and that we did not disappoint. Outstanding news, Roberta! Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your fabulous experience here on Open Table. We are also thrilled to know that Cedric's fun and patient service elevated your overall visit. It was our pleasure having you as our guest, and it is our sincere hope that you will come back one day. Wishing you safe travels, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Appetizer of guacamole was excellent. The main dishes were not exceptional: catfish, salmon and lobster roll if I go back I would just have appetizers
Hi Barbara, We're glad you found our guacamole appetizer to be excellent, however; we wanted you to love every morsel you ordered, and we're sorry this was not the case. Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your honest feedback. Please trust that your review has been read and passed along to our culinary team for their edification. It is our sincere wish that you will join us again, for more than just appetizers, and allow us to restore your faith in our cuisine. Warmly, Red Rooster
Disappointing. One expects better from Marcus Samuelsson operation. food was inconsistent - bucatini was good and salad with chicken was poor.
Bar service was poor...slow and inattentive service. Orders mixed up. Something was off.
Dear Henry, Thank you for being our guest and for sharing your experience with us. You were right to have high expectations, and we're terribly sorry for not providing you with delicious and perfectly prepared entrees. lease know that your feedback has been read and passed along to our culinary team for review. It is our hope that you will give us another chance the next time you are in the area, and allow us the opportunity to restore your faith in our restaurant. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
Excellent place with great vibes!!!
Can’t wait to go back!
Thanks for being a part of our great vibes, Marcos! We are happy you had a five star experience, and we can't wait to have you as our guest again one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Excellent food accompanied by excellent service. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!
My first time there and it was amazing. Everyone was friendly, courteous and full of life and good service.
Really liked the decor and ambience. The crab cake (though expensive) is exquisite. Corn bread was delicious, so were the shrimp and grits.
Only slight let down was the “yard bird” - it was tough, batter was oily and thick. Overall it’s worth a visit and the trek to Harlem.
Thank you, Arabind, for being our guest and for sharing your honest feedback. We very much appreciate it when our guests take the time to share the highlights and the not so highlights of their time with us. Detailed information is always extremely helpful to our team. Please trust that is was our goal to provide a perfect experience, and we do hope you will trek back to Harlem one day and allow us the opportunity to "wow" you with every bite. Warmly, The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Dinner with an old friend. We got there right before closing. Place had few patrons at the time. Although the kitchen was closing the staff took their time with us.
We understand how priceless dinner with an old friend could be, and we are delighted that our team provided a leisurely environment for you two to catch up. Thank you, for being our guest, and for sharing your five star feedback. It is our hope that you will join us again the next time you are in the neighborhood. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Red Rooster is ALWAYS AMAZING! Super popular spot (always full and lively) and guaranteed to have fantastic music. The Piccadilly Seafood pasta dish and the King’s Blood rum punch were a perfect pairing. I will keep coming back each time I’m in Harlem. The night I went there was a live band and they added flare to some old school songs. I’ve never heard Sweet Caroline played with so much soul!
How awesome is that version of Sweet Caroline?!?!? Right! Thank you, SoVeryTracey, for being our guest and for taking the time to share your fabulous feedback. We completely agree, the Piccadilly Pasta + King's Blood Rum Punch = a perfect dinner at Red Rooster! We very much appreciate your wonderful feedback, and we look forward to having you as our guest again the next time you are in Harlem. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
We made reservations awhile ago..and I kept reading the reviews on line which some were very good and some said not worth it..I say go and try for yourself! The food was great and the singing was amazing!

Amazing Sunday brunch. Loved the music all was fabulous.

It was our pleasure having you as our guest, and we hope to welcome back again one day soon. Cheers! The Red Rooster Harlem Team
Unfortunately, this was not one of the better visits. The food was just ok, our waitress disappeared never to bee seen again. There was no communication as to where she went or if there was a change in Stagg. We began to ask the waiter of the next table for assistance and then someone came over to begin to attend to our needs.
Thank you for being our guest we are sorry that you did not experience us at our best. This is not a typical Red Rooster visit and is certainly not the visit we intended for you. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention and be assured that your comments will be shared with our team to help us correct our missteps going forward. We hope this visit will not deter you from giving us another chance. Warmly, The Red Rooster Team
Love this place! Real comfort food. Love the deviled eggs, yardbird chicken. Cornbread and collard greens. Excellent staff, but sometimes forgetful, but it was busy the evening of our visit. Great outdoor space, but it’s loud with the music from the speakers. Really a go to restaurant in Manhattan.
Great atmosphere. Good food.
It was a decent vibe and very good food
