Red Rooster Harlem
Book your next event with us
We went for the gospelbrunch, it was really outstanding! Next time in New York, we will go back for sure!
I LOVED Tamysha (sp?), our food choices (thanks to Tamysha!) and the energy!
i had been wanting to visit the Red Rooster for a few years after buying the cook book of same name. I was very excited to invite family to share a special celebratory event. The ambiance was fab, the people quite diverse, the noise (for me) way too loud, the food "amazing", the staff "excellent." My only complaint was the cost of the affair $400 for the 4 of us. I'm not a stingy person, but $15 for a smallish cocktail was a bit - yikes. Would I return - YES with the knowledge that it's gonna be a bit out of my budget. Go forth, enjoy to the max, return often, try everything - it's all "YES, Chef!"
Ordered the shrimp and grits. The flavor was great but the portion size for the price wasn't ideal.
Wonderful experience and I look forward to a future visit.
Fire fire fire!! I always love this place
I’m from Canada and this is my second visit to Red Rooster! I made sure I had a reservation so we didn’t miss out!
Have wanted to go for years and wasn’t disappointed. Our waitress was so good and everyone friendly, welcoming and kind. Food was very good and we had exceptional service.
Love this place! Been here a few times and never disappoints.
First trip to NYC and I love Chef Marcus! Lunch at Red Rooster did not disappoint! Fabulous food and amazing service, what could be better?!?! This will definitely be a permanent stop on all future NYC trips!!
Excellent Experience. Waited a long time before coming. Worth the wait. Great vibe. Amazing food. Superb service.
I will be coming back for Marcus’s Obama ribs.
Very creative Southern cuisine. Lively bar and restaurant. An extremely enjoyable evening.
I ordered the fried chicken which wasn’t friend more like roasted chicken and the flavor was underwhelming . Also seemed a little undercooked towards the bone. A friend ordered shrimp and grits and love it though. Definitely had food envy.
Ordered jerk chicken in part b/c of the “sides”, but they weren’t really sides. Chicken was served on a scallion pancake (gets a little wet from the chicken and is hard to cut), but veggies were a couple of strips of peppers as far as I could tell and the “tostones” were actually the long plantain chips you get at the store (maybe one strip broken in two pieces on top). Also, the least spicy jerk I’ve ever had. Good, just wasn’t as expected. Drinks were fabulous!
Excellent service and great food!
This is a tourist trap. The food was almost inedible. I had fried chicken that was over cooked and over sweetened with honey. The chicken breast was so tough that it could have been used as a hockey puck. The cornbread was dry and accompanied by some tasteless buttery like mixture. The noise level uncomfortable.
Clearly a place where tourist come to say that they have seen the “real” Harlem.
Always something going on. Great staff. Fun vibe. Food hits the spot.
Been here before, better service and better food this time. Really appreciate the music. But the sound level in the restaurant area is by far to loud.
This is honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to in the city. The food has exciting twists on southern classics. The staff was very nice and the ambience is really fun. Don't skip this place!
Everything was perfectly seasoned. I was really looking forward to eating here so I am so happy that it was as enjoyable as anticipated. The Mac and greens was SO delicious. Wanted a wee bit more greens but still lovely nonetheless. We were late because of our train from uptown and the hostess was very accomodating. Thank you so much.
The food was flavorful and didn’t disappoint.
Can’t wait to return.
Friends from out of town. Thanks for placing us at a nice table, per our request!
I have been to Red Rooster on several occasions and had a wonderful experience with the food and service. However, the current menu was not very pleasing to the palate. The food was average and our waiter for the night was not very attentive. Three out of 6 dishes orders were incorrect. I ordered the Juneteenth Whiting, which was missing the chips that come with it when the dish arrived to the table. After checking in with the waiter, he informed me that they had run out of chips. He did not tell me this when I ordered, nor did he inform me of this until I inquired. I also ordered a drink that never came. I did not inquirer again about the drink due to all the other mishaps that took place that evening. My sisters ordered the Uptown Scallops and the Lenox Burger with no bacon and both dishes came out with bacon and had to be remade. Overall, the food and service at Red Rooster were subpar taking into consideration Red Rooster reputation and the cost of its dishes.
We started at the bar before our reservation and the bar staff was not organized. They were switching bartenders that had us waiting a while for service and when we were served did not really provide an attentive type service. Luckily when we were seated for our reservation our waitress was outstanding and very attemptive.
Great food and excellent service!!
Fried chicken (yardbird on the menu) was excellent. Ditto on the cornbread.
The food was absolutely delicious. My son had the Lenox burger with the fried egg and he loved it! I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and the sauce enhanced the flavor. My best friend had the wings and she said the chicken was flavorful and juicy. We are going back to Harlem at the end of the month and we will definitely be back at the Red Rooster.
The food was good and the atmosphere lively. The service was another story. The waiter basically refused to wait on us and ignored the table multiple times unless pressed to show us attention.
This kind of service should never be tolerated and the waiter should be terminated
Based on a recommendation from family, we decided to sit at the bar. Great service from Yves! The drinks (Brownstoner & Obamatini) were artfully prepared. The deviled eggs and Lenox burger were both delicious. This was our first time and we’ll definitely be back when we are in NYC.
Every thing was extremely good. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The food was extremely delicious and well done.It is always consistent. Please add a small portion of vegetables to your entrees. That was lacking with the yard bird entree so I asked for a side.We were accomodated via the waitress from the chef. Thanks
The staff is very friendly and thorough. Food was excellent and the place is beautiful! Love the music and atmosphere. It was definitely worth the trip and I will be coming back for sure!
Heard so much about Red Rooster and wanted to try it. Reservations are needed week or so in advance so we decided to check it out on July 3rd for dinner. First off its not in the generate of areas, so know that in advance. The staff was incredible. Everyone could not have been more friendly and attentive. Just great. Food was just average, nothing to rave about. Typical "home" cooking. Chicken, cornbread, ribs etc.. Really do not see any reason to go back or recommend unless you are right around the corner looking for a bite to eat. Overrated.
Great food horrible service. Took over an hour to be served... lots of excuses
The service is excellent and the food was delicious.
We had an awesome night. The place in itself is really pleasant, with nice music and atmosphere. The team was very nice, sympathic. And most important, the food was outstanding. This is definitely the place to be to have a nice and happy night.
We were greeted warmly and immediately at the door. Everyone was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional. The band playing was great. While it was loud it was not so much so that we could not talk. We had a wonderful time.
Love this place mostly for the people who work here. Had the soft shell craps with about 1/2 of crap in it. Disappointing as it was almost 40.00
Red Rooster is great! We ordered the whole chicken which was perfect when split between three people. I would say the food is kind of expensive for what it is, but the energy, vibe and service were good!
Great food and fun, but don’t expect to talk. Too noisy to hear.
Overseas visitors who thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Harlem experience.
