Red Rooster Harlem
Book your next event with us
It was a good time. Service was great; drinks amazing. Food was good though food initially came out warm but it was all reconciled. On a Saturday evening with reservations is the best time to dine & head for your next stop though the lower level party is a vibe.
I've been waiting to get to Red Rooster and it did not disappoint! Food was great, service was great and ambience was wonderful! Will be back!!
Great food, awesome staff and a great location whichever is easy to get to. Only caveat is that while the music is truly great, you can't really have a conversation...
Coming in from Rochester NY and having dinner with our kids. It was so amazing!! Everything was excellent!! We put our phones down and enjoyed food and company so no pics of food!!
The place was jumping with some great music coming from the bar. Food and service great. A great overall experience. Not the cheapest night out but worth the extra.
My girlfriends and I flew in from Chicago, we were in NY for 24 hours. We agreed that we wanted to eat at a fun, delicious yet casual place. We read the menu and agreed 100% that the Red Rooster is where we‘d go. One of us liked the drink menu, one of us liked the dessert menu, one of us wanted to visit in Harlem, one of us likes the music that fills the atmosphere and I am a fan of Marcus Samuelsson (the restaurant owner) from Chopped. And we all enjoy eclectic art. WE were each very satisfied. Mr. Samuelson covered all the bases well.
Very nice food, Best chicken wings ever had, came all the way from Denmark and loved the place!
Great meal in a lively atmosphere with live music. Much fun had by all. Not the spot for a quite dinner to talk though.
Food was absolutely amazing, family enjoyed our evening
It's a must when in Harlem. The atmosphere and staff are beyond professional but most importantly warm and inviting. I'd like to think of myself as a foodie. I enjoy food but several things stand out, in terms of possible improvements. The fish with cauliflower was simply fried harder and crisper than the potato chips that I had as a side. The fish lacked seasoning. I tried the fish several times hoping that the next time, it will be better. It hasn't. The portion of the shrimp and grits seems to be getting smaller and smaller each time we dine. The mixture of collard greens with the mac and cheese is outstanding. The yardbird is incredible. See you next time.
Great overall experience. Everyone’s food was outstanding.
As a true fan of New Orleans food, I was amazed at the Red Rooster. Fabulous dinner, loved, loved, loved the music. Our server Tameishia was by far one of the most fabulous and genuine souls I have ever met. We travel extensively and are from the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. Please bring this brilliant restaurant to Western New York. Can’t wait to come back again and recommend to anyone visiting!!!
Amazing food! The restaurant has an amazing vibe and the staff are amazing!
One of the best brunches i have had in a long time! Food, service and ambiance were all fabulous.
I loved absolutely EVERYTHING about Red Rooster! The menu was interesting, the ambience fun & service was spot on! Great people watching too! I'll come back next time I'm in NYC for sure!
Good energy. Enjoyed!
The food was excellent and unique. The service was slow and lacking. The bill was high for the value. We arrived before lunch and the restaurant was nearly empty yet it took 20” to get drinks. Appetizer order could not be placed with kitchen until we ordered our main. We didn’t understand that and wanted to eat appetizers while we visited before deciding on main. Will not return...so expensive that the locals cannot afford to eat at this venue.
I love the Red Rooster....finally tried the Obama Short Ribs. OMG- enough for 2 to share.
What a wonderful experience! Loved every moment! Food was simply amazing.
- The ambiance and decor is great
Service - our servers name was Petra - She was terrible!
- It took well over 10 minutes for Petra to acknowledge us - and when she did. She said she would be right with us. 5 minutes later we got some water. Mind you there were a total of 20 customers in the entire restaurant and she had two tables that were finishing up. I had to ask for my water glass to get refilled. I had to ask for everything I needed - she provided excellent service to her other tables. She made recommendations all of which we tried. Petra needs to take lessons from the hostess on service. The hostess was on point.
-Appetizers, We ordered the wild wild wings to start. The sauce was great but the wings were slightly undercooked. So I'd rate them 2 stars
-Entrees - My husband ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich - the chicken was slightly raw in the middle. 1 star
I ordered the shrimp & grits - i had about 5 grit balls in the bowl- terrible. The shrimp was good. The gumbo rue needed salt. 2 Stars
I'd indicated in my reservation that i was celebrating my birthday and at the very last minute after Petra asked if she needed to bring the check did she acknowledge it. She only did so b/c the hostess told her to.
I would NOT recommend Red Rooster at all. This $100+ dollar lunch was not worth it.
NY has too many great eateries to waste your time.
Was a super happy and joyful experience
I will not recommend it under the conditions we experienced. Extremely noisy, took long time to get food, took very long time to get something to drink and when the drinks came 50% of it was wrong and we had to wait even longer.
Brilliant service, delicious food and drinks, and a fantastic house band. The veggie options were entirely delicious, and well-thought out. 12/10 would recommend.
If you get to Harlem, give this place a try. You will be happy with whatever you get on the menue.
PS. make sure to get the cornbread.
Got the jerk chicken & didn’t realize it was still on the bone. It was hard to get off to eat it. And not enough vegetables with it. Priced too high for what it was
Great lunch. Excellent food. Great service. We had eaten at Chef ‘s previous restaurant, Aquavit, and while that was unforgettable, RR was a great and delicious change of direction. The servers were very helpful as to favorites, and even that we’re from Virginia, we will be back even if we could get the “Hot Honey Yardbird, Marcus’ Cornbread & Helga’s Meatballs” delivered to Norfolk.
I just got an email that I didn’t show up but I was absolutely there. The hostess took my name and saw it on her reservation list. Thanks, Josh Marquette
It is a nice place but prepare to pay more for little...
some of the attendees are ruled especially, the ones at the checking point. Also, they over booked customers and rushed people to eat fast so they can give table available for next...
Besides it is a nice place.
My friend and i had a lovely meal...we shared a few apps and then shared the shrimp and grits. Everything was delicious and the service was pretty attentive too. I will return to try more dishes!
Really good food. Would absolutely come back. Everything I tried was fantastic.
Food was as wonderful as everyone says it is. Vibe is fun and vibrant. Service was slow and lacking personality.
This was my second time dining at Red Rooster. This first time was for brunch and I had a great experience. This time i dined for lunch. The food was good, but not to the same quality as the first time I dined. The service was very off on this trip. I ordered a cocktail as soon as I sat down at the table and it took over a half hour before it arrived, even after checking in with the server a couple of times, and the restaurant and bar were not that busy at that point. My appetizers were almost gone before the cocktail arrived. There were other service misses as well, as well as not offering to refill coffee during dessert. I still enjoyed my meal, but it didn't live up to my previous experience. I hope it was just an off day for them. I'd cautiously still recommend Red Rooster and will give it another shot in the future.
Red Rooster is amazing! We had the devil eggs and cornbread for starters....best ever not your regular has a great twist! Then I had the Hot honey chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens. The collard greens has an unique flavor that was really good...a must try. This place has a live DJ that played music that made the meal more enjoyable for seemingly everyone in the place, as heads were all booping to sounds. If you get a chance go to this spot.
We booked a table for 5 people. We made the reservation from Sweden almost two weeks before the dinner. When we came there was no table for 5 people so we had to sit very tight and bad for the hole dinner. Not good! Even if the rest was good that made the hole experience not the best.....
Nice restaurant but very (!) loud
We loved the atmosphere in Red Rooster. It was exciting and fresh with friendly staff and amazing food. Just what we needed for our final night in NYC.
This is our 2nd time here. Last here summer of 2011 when we visited NYC. This was an outstanding visit. My son is a real fan of Marcus Samuelsson and had his heart set on visiting here. We were seated at the outdoor patio and we were in time for Happy Hour. The practice for Happy Hour drinks is for the customer to order at the bar and pay for the drinks at the bar during Happy Hour, and we are puzzled as to why this is so. We've never had to do this at any other establishment during Happy Hour.
We ordered, in addition to the Happy Hour wine, the OBAMATINI'S. They were wonderful, spicy and peppery and a little sweet. Just perfect. Our appetizers were the meatballs and crab cakes. Great choices and just the right amount to share for the 3 of us. My son ordered the Block Party Ribs and my husband and I ordered Josephine's BBQ Branzino for 2. We were enjoying the outdoor patio, but felt a drop of rain or 2 or 3. Our waiters quickly popped open the patio umbrellas so that we and a few other tables could continue to enjoy the outdoors. However, the rain came down harder so were moved to the protection of tables under the restaurant's awnings. However, the rain came at us SIDEWAYS and my wine glass started filling up with rain!! We scrambled inside and were seated at the communal table in front of the kitchen, which was perfect because we got to be up close to all the action in the kitchen. We chatted with other diners who happened to also be visiting from Canada and were also there for pre-theatre (we were all there for Amateur Night at The Apollo Theatre). By then, our food found us, sizzling hot and delectable. The ribs were succulent and moist and just unbelievably delicious. The table gasped in amazement at the Branzino. It was brought out on a paella pan, crowning a mound of low-country rice and surrounded by mussels, clams, peppers and okra. The Branzino was grilled to perfection, flakey and aromatic. Stunning presentation. Lots of photos!!
I’ve been before and this time was even better than the last, which was great! I could have ordered everything on the menu.
Very nice and lovely atmosphere at the restaurant.
Food good and large portions
