Great food, fantastic service from waitress and buzz boys - but unfortunatelly a quit bad, almost arrogant first reception. Table not ready on time, long time to be seated even though we had a reservation, long time until waitress was notified we were seated.

Great band, but a bit to loud music.

But the food was more than excellent!

Sunday night dinner was like a party! The band was fantastic and the food and cocktails were terrific. Service was spotty (appetizers came well before cocktails arrived; only 3 out of 4 appetizers arrived), but we were having such a good time it didn’t matter.

I love Red Rooster and have been coming here since it opened. I wish they hadn't changed the cornbread though. The slices they used to serve were so buttery and perfect!

My wife’s and my entrees were lukewarm. My ribs were still lukewarm after I received a new plate. The dessert we had was also very underwhelming. We ordered a banana pudding doughnut and it was lacking pudding. Overall this was a very disappointing experience.

I would definitely recommend to try RR once. We had a 10 am reservation for Sunday Brunch and showed up at 9:50 am. The restaurant does not open until 10 am on Sunday and there was already a line to get in. The food was good - hearty, flavorful and filling. It wasn't OMG delicious, but it was exactly what we were expecting. Where the restaurant fell down was service. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes to get our food. Every single table around us had already eaten and several were already turned for the next seating. Our server was polite and very sweet, but we had to ask for coffee refills twice. And when they realized that they had spaced our order, they offered to bring us a bowl of salad as an apology for waiting. SALAD! Our entrees came with salad... we didn't need MORE SALAD. It was an epic fail. And we barely got an apology from our server and the worst part was we were not offered any explanation or comp'd items. Just the offer of a free dessert or comp'd drink would have gone a long way. There are a lot of very cool restaurants in NYC to have Brunch - the Red Rooster should be on their game at a higher level - but my guess is they just don't care... at least not about our group...

We made a reservation at 8:30 and showed up at 8:25 to be told that they were running a bit behind so the host would come get us when our table was ready. We waited in front of the host booth so that we wouldn’t accidently miss our table but we did not get seated for 50 min because the host forgot that we were supposed to be seated. The food was ok. Definitely not worth the wait or the money.

They left out a key ingredient in my shrimp and grits-the chorizo. When I pointed it out to the server, she behaved as if I had eaten it and was wrong. She then went and got some more chorizo and slammed it down on my table. I wasn't trying to be difficult. I happen to know what chorizo is. She engaged with me otherwise. Overall a good experience, except for the attitude from the server.

Not a lot of food to choose from. The food was very salty. Drinks were not strong at all. I order short ribs receive different kind of cut of meat. A lot of fat on the meat. The waiter was good environment was great the food was not worth it to me.

I was HAPPY I made reservations. It was packed. The food was YUMMY. The server was GREAT. The bathroom was SUPER clean. The host and security/door man were both FANTASTIC.

I love everything about Red Rooster; the vibe, music, and the food are all outstanding. I would give it 5 stars except my wife needs to be gluten free (not by choice), and there are almost no entrees that are. This is not a problem in other high end nouvelle soul food restaurants around the country. We spend a lot of time in New Orleans for example and this is never an issue. Chef, be sensitive to this issue! Often something as simple as substituting tarmari for soy sauce in a recipe can flip an entree to GF with no affect on enjoyment for all diners.

When Red Rooster first opened I couldn't get a reservation. So I put it aside and stated going to other restaurants n Harlem. I glad I did. The service was great. Very attentive. But while the food is good it doesn't seem to rate above any number of other Soul Food restaurants in Harlem. I was underwhelmed.

Although we were originally given a door right by the server entrance, we were moved when we asked for a different table. Service was impeccable. Friendly staff and very efficient. We had the macaroni and collard greens and the shrimp and grits. The macaroni was rich and flavourful and the shrimp and grits delicious. Portions are generous and filling. Cornbread also yummy!

Always a good time here. Music is always great, especially when it’s live - the vibe is always just right. Food has never been bad and the Red Rooster team is lovely. This is one of my favorite places to keep returning to.

I was so excited to go but I found the food way overhyped. The cornbread and biscuits were hard as rocks and the beans were undercooked. The Mac and greens were delicious and the chicken was cooked well but overall I didn’t find it worth the money or hype.

We’ve been here twice, both on a Sunday night and have really enjoyed the live music.
The fried chicken is really good, and the vibe is full of life. Fun place to go!

Corn bread, deviled eggs, hot chicken n waffle n rooster slam washed down with spicy obamatini, mimosas n Harlem love. Make res but sit at the bar if avail. This is my sat am happy place

Thought the restaurant was beautiful. The service was fantastic. The food was pretty good. However, didn't appreciate them refusing to honor the Restaurant Week deal. Felt it was dishonest. We would of went someplace else if we knew they wouldn't honor the deal. But when you make reservations and show up on time what can you possibly do when an establishment refuses to be honorable? So we stayed and ate.

I really like the relaxed , cozy yet good spirited feel of the evening dinner crowd here. Celebrating my mothers 57th birthday, this is was a homerun with Hot yard chicken, two sides of mac and cheese that was splendid in texture( teaching even my mother a thing or two) who hails from southen USA. Reservations were honored speedily, Chef made an appearance at the table and took photos happily! The dirty sauce was outstanding but portions weren't enough to share. Pitcher of "rooster punch" gave enough of a buzz for increased happiness. Appetizers and sides are the way to go! Will go back to try more dishes, didn't get to have the Flatiron Steak. Birthday girls grin never left her face! Awesome, awesome experience.

I would recommend against ordering the steak, about a third of mine was fat and simply wasn’t worth the price. When I told the waitress that it was fatty, she said she would tell the chef but I never heard back from anyone. However the deviled eggs are amazing and other dishes were good. I’ve had good meals here before, I wish I had stuck to what I knew was good

This is a lively, artistic bistro. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the house salad and squash soup enormously. The corn bread was killer! Even better than the last time I dined here -- now with loganberry compound butter. We loved our desserts - the peanut butter dessert is a chocolate mousse treat with the right amount of delicious peanut butter. My husband enjoyed his tres leches cake (though it is misnamed as it has nothing to do with the Latin dessert with that name). Our one misstep was the "root vegetable lasagna"; it is a vegetable stew with a strong spicy flavor and nothing hinting of lasagna. The staff was wonderful as they offered a replacement. This is an example of how names of dishes is important. There is nothing wrong with this dish, just that neither of us would have ordered it if we understood the flavor profile and lack of noodles.

The food is pretty mediocre. Crab cakes were tasteless and rubbery. The jerk chicken lacked the seasoning that would characterize it as "jerk." I'm all for reinterpretations of classics, but it lacked taste. Very load and crammed in. Animated waitress with great enthusiasm did not make up for a pretty mediocre (and expensive) experience.

Excellent creative food, extremely generous portions for Restuarant Week. Friendly relaxed vibe , aim to please staff. Terrific restaurant.
