The server was not attentive to our needs. The chef did not have several items on the menu. The server said it would take 40 minutes to make a appetizer that we never received. We had to ask for water and silverware. I would not go there again or recommend it
Great that they had vegan options, but they weren't great. The menu and presentation were fantastic. The taste fell a little flat, but it might be that the vegan risotto was really heavy on coconut and very light on habanero oil. The hummus was pretty good and brussel sprouts were fantastic. My wife got fish tacos and wasn't impressed. We were 2 of about 6 people in the entire restaurant at 7:30 on a Saturday, so it just felt dead.
We were there for breakfast; the toaster evidently was not working. We sent back our bread which was supposed to be toast and they returned it about 10 minutes later (after we had completed our meal) and it was still cold. The scrambled eggs are synthetic.
We were only there because we were meeting people at the hotel. The only tea bags they had were Lipton's. I expected better from a restaurant listed on Open Table.
The menu is thoughtful and tantalizing. Justin, Ladena, and crew set us up with some of the most appetizing little bites from around the menu before hitting us with the knockout... Chicken and Lobster was so good, it made me mad. The favorite, however, was the locally raised and perfectly cooked pork chop. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Not to be outdone, Pastry Chef Emily's Chocolate Bomb cake is unreal and the fried cheesecake bites made my girlfriend blush!!! Thank you Red Roost Tavern for an amazing night!!!! We'll be back!!!
I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt but I was pretty underwhelmed with my experience.
To start, we were told that two large groups had just left so the kitchen was backed up and we could not be seated for 10-15 mins. What the kitchen has to do with where we sit, I have no idea. After about 5 mins we were seated and were reminded again that the kitchen was a little behind (the hostess did apologize). Our server brought us what tasted like tap water in a carafe (because, after all, even tap water can be made fancy by serving it in a glass vessel) and took our drink orders. I found the drink list to be pretty meager, surprising considering all of the craft breweries around Cincinnati.
As we were deciding what to order, our server randomly dropped off a shot with assorted pickled vegetables in it with barely an explanation as to what was in it or what its purpose was. My friends and I were perplexed by the menu, and not just because it looked like the printer had been running low on toner when our menus were printed (making it difficult to read). What really confused us was the "family style small plates" section. To all of us, "family style" and "small plates" are opposites. Our server explained that there are four dishes that we could order "family style" along with a plethora of side dishes that we could share. Since we would be splitting the check, we decided to order separate entrees and to share an order of risotto, which had a good flavor and texture.
The burger one friend ordered was adequate, as it's hard to mess up a burger. My club sandwich was a bit dry, even with a lot of garlic aioli on it. The waffle fries were delicious--hands down the best part of the meal. My other friend, however, ordered fish tacos, which arrived cold, as if they were made first and had sat out for a prolonged period of time.
I have no idea where "farm to table" played a role.
I suggest you try one of the many other restaurants a short distance away.
We tried this brunch for Mother's Day and it was nice. The food was good, the prices a little high (but expected for a hotel restaurant buffet), and the waitress was very friendly and helpful once we got to connect with her --- but she had a large group so we didn't see her for the first 5 - 10 minutes we were sat (so asked the receptionist to take our drink order and if we could serve ourselves at the bar). An enjoyable experience that we wouldn't likely do for a casual brunch, but was nice for a special occasion like Mother's Day. Oh, they also gave us some special cookies for Mother's Day at the end which was thoughtful (although we were full and I would have recommended they gave something small "to go").
Nice and clean inside . The quality of the food was acceptable but not great. The waiter was attentive and prompt but he could not answer our questions or understand us because his English skills were greatly lacking. We had a hard time understanding him too.
"Brunch" on Sunday only goes until 11:30 am and the buffet was pretty standard. You could also order waffles, pancakes or omelets. Not very many people there, yet it took awhile for me to be asked for a drink order. Then with my coffee, I had to ask for cream. Just an okay place.
Food was fantastic. The waiter only had 3 tables, and wandered around aimlessly, wasn't the one that brought our food, and when I could make eye contact with him to get him over, he went to one of the other tables first. Sat finished without the check for nearly 20 minutes. Food was fantastic.
We came here for a fundraiser. It was hosted in the bar with food, trivia, and valet parking included in the price. The food was delicious and very creative. The trivia was interactive and it was nice to not have to worry about where to park while downtown!
This place was awful. Had to send my steak back 3 times because it wasn't cooked correctly. The waitress was completely inappropriate when she brought the steak back she says "Just to let you know, the chef said that it was cooked to a "perfect medium rare" the first two times, and if you like it like this, you prefer more of a medium!" as he hands me my newly OVERCOOKED steak!! Are you kidding me, I'm not 2 years old, I've been ordering medium rare steaks all of my life and you have the nerve to talk to me like that!! .
I Spoke to the manager and you could tell he had little experience managing by his responses as he proceeded to explain to me that because the beef is locally sourced it is "more red" than other beef....yeah ok??? He did agree that the waitresses response was inappropriate, but she's you're staff and my experience is that attitudes transfer from the top down.
We also had the short rib, it was a little dry and I am not sure what the corn stuff was that was underneath it but it wasn't good!
The hummus had 0 flavor, how someone can make a completely flavorless hummus is beyond me.
We were really excited for this place because of the locally sourced menu but honestly, there are so many other great places to eat, save your money, this place is expensive because it is in the hotel and the food is simply not good.
Tried here for a second time when the first night we such a great experience. I'm telling you guys they made up for it all. Went over and above the call of duty. Took very good care of us! Food prepared just the way we like it. Staff is amazing! It is in a hotel so it can get very busy and loud. If we stay at this hotel again we will go back, they redeemed themselves from a poor first visit.
Evening started out well, we were seated promptly and drink orders were taken -- 15 minutes later, they arrived and our food orders were taken. 45 minutes later, the food arrived -- I'm sure it was warm at some point, but not when it came to our table. It should be noted that during this 45 minute period our waitress was nowhere to be found. I'm not sure whether this was a kitchen or waitstaff issue, but we will not be back.
Our server, Victoria, was PHENOMENAL! Her personality, passion and service was of the highest quality. The bartender, Josh, was also absolutely wonderful.
The quality of the food was the exact opposite. 4 out of the 5 meals we ordered were sub par. The mushroom risotto was a thick paste that tasted like a mushroom soup mix was the only flavor. The chicken wings were cooked, but not of good quality. The grass-fed steak was limp, and fatty. The only dish that was OK, was the quinoa salad.
We didn't bring this up when we were dining because we had such a good time and didn't want to dampen the mood. However, I would not go back unless it was just for drinks and french fries.
