Red Rocks Cafe - Birkdale Village Ratings and Reviews
We usually have a good experience at this restaurant.
We left a written survey with the hostess, after dining, due to a concern the waiter would throw it away if we placed it in the check holder.
We asked for bread after our drinks came, before ordering the meal. The meal came and no bread. We had to ask again. Finally, we received bread after meals were brought to the table. I (wife) ordered the Blackened Seafood Salad, but requested it grilled instead of blackened. A grilled chicken salad was brought, not a seafood salad.
The waiter visited our table when we were finishing our meal to pour us more wine. He neglect me(wife) completely (I only had about an ounce or two in my glass.) and poured my husband the rest of what was in the bottle, which gave him at least 10 oz. I had spoken to the waiter about the problem with wrong meal prior to this happening. It seemed he was not happy with me and just wanted us out of there.
We felt the waiter was a novice and definitely needed more training.
I made a reservation on Open Table for 7:15pm with a specific request for a booth. We arrived at 7:05pm and notified the hostess of our reservation. She then attempted to seat us in the noisy bar area at a hightop. I politely declined and told the hostess we didn't want a bar seat and asked to be seated in the main dining area. She then took us to a booth. I specifically made a reservation for a specific time with a booth request. If I wanted to eat at the bar I wouldn't have made a reservation! This point was lost on the hostess. Some further employee training is needed :)
This was about my third time dining at this Birkdale location. We took part in Queen's Feast. The she crab soup was OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS! The filet medallions were great, oh, my goodness. The asparagus was great al dente, but I'm not a fan of food piled up like this meal was served. The garlic mashed potatoes lacked richness and salt, then there was asparagus, then meat on top. I've had desserts at Red Rocks, and this was not Red Rocks dessert. The chocolate and coconut cakes we had were substandard--for Red Rocks...frozen..perhaps from a box? I know I'm sounding negative; I'm trying to be honest and not critical. We really enjoyed our meal. I will be back. Red Rocks ROCKS!
I was very disappointed. We had an out of town guest and have enjoyed red rocks many times. We ordered from the queens feast and it was awful. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were flavorless. The potatoes with the steak were dry and hard to eat. The chocolate cake was the best part of the meal. I would have complained but didn't want to ruin my visit with my friend.
The queens feast was very overpriced for the quality
The service was awesome.
We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and efficient. We ate off of the Queen's Feast menu. Our salads were delicious, the shrimp were tasty and fresh. The surf and turf was highly praised by my husband and eldest, I absolutely adored the wild rice risotto, and even my picky son raved about his lemon chicken. We all polished off the rich chocolate cake at the end.
Visit to participate in restaurant week. The food and staff, especially our waiter Jessie, were amazing but most importantly there was no wait to be seated or extended wait times for food preparation. Incredible dining experience. I will definitely be back!
Overall great dining experience. Ordered 2 appetizers before our entrees, shrimp cocktail and jalepeno cauliflower. Both were delicious. My husband had Twin filet medallions and I chose the baby greens salad with grilled chicken breast. Filets were done perfect as ordered (medium). The salad is dressed with a pomegranate vinaigrette which is what makes this salad so delicious.
We had a good experience overall. The main reasons the stars for service are low has to do with the rude bartender. She could improve her social skills in the kindness area. It was obvious other customers agreed but she was not challenging enough to report.
Steaks, coconut cake, fish, drinks and if they offer bread say "yes please". -all good
Menu offers considerable variety and each of our dishes was quite good. Service was ok. It was not slow but just a little off. Server mixed up our order a bit, never made eye contact with us and failed to inquire about whether we wanted dessert. Instead, he said, "Is there anything else I can get you?" So, we walked a short way and got ice cream.
Party of 16 so we had to be split up. Short notice. That was ok. Food reviews. Chicken Marsala. Good not great. Steaks. 2 ordered both ok. Not great. I had ribs. Very nothing special. Lots of sauce to mask flavor of meat. Seafood ravioli. Just ok. Martini uses smallest martini glass I've ever seen. But still charges normal martini prices. Very disappointing. No bread with dinner. Found out later you had to ask. Our other party was seated in bar area. Extremely hot inside. Due to patio door opening frequently. They were major uncomfortable. Coconut cake was the best reviewed item. Overall. 16 people sales d they would not go again. 131 Main restaurant was substantially better overall at the dave price.
We have eaten at Red Rocks several times and have enjoyed dining there for special occasions. This visit was for a birthday dinner. The service started out Ok. We ordered our dinner, and out of 6 guests, there were 4 steaks and 2 chicken entrees. Two of us ordered she crab soup to start. The soup was terrible. One cup had large lumps of what seemed to be congealed cream. When the entrees were delivered, three of four steals were very over-cooked, yet not hot. (Well done and were ordered medium). The 6 oz filet had been sliced all along the top and pounded to a 1/4" thickness. The garlic mashed potatoes were cold and dry, and the barbecue chicken looked like the chicken was cooked and then someone put it on a plate, poured sauce out of a bottle on it and served it. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and will probably not return.
