Red Rocks Cafe - Birkdale Village
Chicken sandwich had cheese on it with paper still on it. Literally a visible square of wax paper cooked between the slice of cheese and the chicken breast. We complained and the waitress took it away and returned with a new one that was over cooked just before everyone else was finished eating. Poached eggs with eggs Benedict were very watery. There was literally more water than yolk running out of the egg. Poorly trained kitchen staff. No apologies from anyone but our waitress who was not to blame. I will not be back for brunch. I have had good lunches and dinner here in the past. Restaurant was clean and nice. Except there was a maintenance guy, on a ladder changing a light fixture (right behind our table) when we were seated. He took the fixture down, but did not try to replace it (thank goodness) while ordered or ate.
The food and ambiance were good. We didn't have issues holding a conversation. The music was good but didn't really fit the restaurant. But nonetheless enjoyable.
Food was very good but my wife and I were sat at a high table in the bar. This was a very busy area and every one ran into my chair. I'll make sure to request a table in the dining room next time.
Great place to grab a quality lunch and enjoy company!
Service was outstanding...very attentive..staff friendly....food was good but not great. Would still go back though...had the chicken marsala...chicken was a little rubbery and didn't seem to be fresh.
Went to Red Rocks in Birkdale for Valentine's Day with my wife. We both ordered from the special Valentine's Day menu and both of our meals were excellent. Our server was pleasant and attentive even though the restaurant was busy this evening. Overall it was a great experience.
Service was great. The food was mediocre. We will probably try again just not on a holiday event.
We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner. Couldn’t complain!
This was our first time dining at Red Rocks Cafe and we were quite pleased. A lot of food options and the crab cakes were pretty good, minus a bit of shells.
I cannot say enough good things about the service that we had. The staff was very friendly and checked on us frequently to make sure we did not need anything. The meal was excellent and the dessert was divine. We cannot wait to go back again. The staff made our birthday experience so sweet!
Pros: great selection of dishes; great service from when you enter to when you leave; drinks reasonably priced; excellent desserts
Cons: somewhat dark decor; feeling of cramped space in aisles and seating; too noisy
Last meal my wife's tuna was dry but fortunately, not overcooked. Overall this has been one of our go to restaurants, so I don't want to come off as complaining.
The prices are too high for the quality of food you serve. Also servers should not bring out appetizers , salad, and soup at same time.
First night at Red Rocks and service and ambiance are great! Wine selection was good and reasonable. Food was quite lacking. Steaks are thin and came out over cooked. Saltimsbuco lackef flavor and very disappointed in meal quality. Appetizers and deserts were great but entree lacking!
I would have given a perfect score, but I had to deduct for the noisiness ( we were seated next to a table of moms with 5 young loud boys... cute as they were, the moms paid them no attention with all that young energy.... we couldn’t have a conservation.
Our server was great and my daughter and I had a really nice meal. Nice atmosphere and a nicer spot for a quieter meal. Everyone working was pleasant. I will be back!
I do want to say that I thought the crab cakes that I ordered were very oily and didn’t taste good. So bummed. Unfortunately i didn’t let my server know bc I was busy with my 4yr old. I should have spoken up. Otherwise I had a really nice night out!
I had the calamari appetizer and spinach walnut raviolis...both were the best I’ve ever had!
We used to live at Lake Norman, and would come to Red Rocks all the time. We have since moved to the NC mountains but come to Red Rocks every time we are back in the area. This last trip was for my mother's birthday, as always never a disappointment!
Excellent service from start to finish. The staff from the front end greeters to bus boys were professional. A well oiled machine running in harmony.
We were treated as VIPs by our server and by the manager during our dinner on 1/26. Thank you.
Made reservations and went during Restaurant Week but after getting there decided we wanted to order from the regular menu. We were not disappointed. Buffalo Shrimp appetizer was the best we've ever had. Our whole meal was perfect. Definitely plan to go back.
The food was fantastic, and the service exemplary! The server was attentive enough without being pushy , and made sure we knew that we didn’t have to rush. Definitely a great experience! Our new favorite!
We walked in and were immediately seated. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Dinner was EXCELLENT. Everything came out perfectly timed. Great start to restaurant week.
Came for Queens Feast - the food was great as it always is but I was disappointed in the dessert. Not sure if they changed the vendor but the coconut cake used to be my hands down fav. Dessert is a treat for me/my diet so I look forward to it the most. I took dessert to go and was surprised when I got home to to find a much smaller than usual piece of cake and that it wasn’t how I recalled it tasting.
The only other issue I had was the ambiance- it’s winter and even with the enclosed ‘heated’ patio- it was still cool in there and seemed more like an outdoor cafe then a 4 star meal atmosphere.
All around great experience. This visit was by far my best and that is saying a lot because Red Rock (RR) is always great. RR has become a solid favorite for it's consistency in service and food. Even valet services are great!
The food was ok, service good, but really over price, I had been at this location 2 times after they had reopenned and will not go back. It has been really high price for the kind of food. I think it is about 40% over price comparing it to similar restaurant around it.
Food was fair. Thought it would be better after the reopen but ummmm not so much. The lettuce wedge was white and had more fire than lettuce. Lettuce at Harris Teeter is a dollar a head and is green. Burger was good. Both dinner salads also had a lot of white core. Yuck
Had a wonderful meal (all 3 of us had salmon) and the service was great! Anxious to return!
Service and atmosphere was great but the food does not support the cost.
My wife and I were celebrating our birthdays with friends. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and the price for value was good.
Service was quick and on point. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meal. Very nice evening.
We had a wonderful time New Years Eve with our two young daughters. There was a large party beside us that was bit noisy but other than that everything was great. Food was great, server was great with our kids and the lobster bisque soup, calamari and cocktail Strawberry Lemonade was AMAZING!
We enjoyed our New Years Eve dinner with friends immensely & were very glad we had reservations. Our male server was fantastic & one of the best we’ve had yet at RR. Food was delicious & cooked to our specs. We will definitely be back again soon!
There was nothing special about this place.
Good time at Red Rocks! Food was very good, menu allowed a lot of choices which was important with vegetarian at table. Waiter was super efficient, food was not rushed but literally was served as soon as we finished appetizers. Requested table away from bar which was nice, still very loud just due to acoustics if room I guess.
Great service complemented the superb meal
Food was delicious! Love the Lobster Ravioli. Kids loved the chicken and penne pasta! Service is excellent.
Excellent food and service!
Haven’t been there in awhile. Glad we went back. Service was good. Food came out hot and tasty. Happy we gave it another chance
