Red Pepper Taqueria Ratings and Reviews
Good food. My husband enjoys the tacos. I love their kale salad with shrimp. Kids love the kids fajitas and burritos. They are really large portions. Everything is fresh looking and tasting. The live music is a great, festive addition. I am not certain of the nights this is offered. The inside is pretty loud, so if the weather is good, we prefer the patio. Overall, our families favorite "Mexican".
The food was exceptionally good and surprising. I've ordered queso in many Mexican restaurants and have never had it served sizzling, bubbling over hot with REAL cheeses and mushrooms, truffle oil, onions, and corn baked within!! That ALONE is worth going back for in my humble opinion!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED the food!!
The service and ambience left something to be desired however . . . But the food was exquisite!
We hit RPQ for Mother's Day brunch and were happy with our meal. The shrimp and grits was great, and the tacos (we had several kinds) were all tasty and made with care. The drinks were a generous pour, and the kids menu items were crowd-pleasers. However, the service was a little spotty - some items were brought very quickly, others seemed to be delayed. Overall, a recommended restaurant.
The tacos were very good. The service was friendly but could have been more attentive. Unfortunately the live musician played loud enough that no conversation was possible. More of a club feel than a restaurant experience and at 7pm. We were not warned of this before being seated or ordering so we had to leave soon after eating to continue our dinner conversation.
They serve a nice range of imaginative tacos and flavorful Tex-Mex and Latin inspired food and drinks. The ambiance is like a bar - loud and clangorous - making it hard to hear your dinner companions. And the tables are scrunched so close together that the server had to stand at the far end to take orders and serve and was impossible to hear.
The service was good, the food tasteful however it could of been hotter. I ordered the shrimp burrito and it was big, the shrimp were tender and tasteful. Over all i would recommend this place because of the food. The ambiance was just there, they could of had better lighting. There were some customers that were talking very loud which annoying.
The restaurant was very dark! Even with the windows it was hard to see. We had a group of 8-9 for a work lunch. Drinks were not filled regularly and there was confusion during the ordering process when there shouldn't have been . Food was okay. The menu seemed fairly limited.
It was my first time at Red Pepper Taqueria and I honestly could not have asked for better. First of all, the hostess that greeted me and my boyfriend was super friendly and really set the precedent for our experience. We sat outside on the covered patio. I really enjoyed feeling the breeze and sunshine on my back while we enjoyed our meal. Our sever, though I forgot her name, was extremely attentive and positive. I had the Al Pastor tacos and my boyfriend had the Nachos Ole with brisket and both of us ate every last bite! For those that are fanatics of pineapple like me, the Al Pastor is a must. I might have sneaked a few nachos too (also a must). They have a great selection of drinks as well. We both had the RP margaritas and would definitely recommend them. I can't wait to go back! Thanks Red Pepper!
Went here several months ago with friends from work for happy hour and thoroughly enjoyed the food and fresh margaritas. Remembered that they served lunch here so a couple of us decided to try it for a late lunch. I was very pleasantly surprised that my lunch experience was just as good as previous happy hour experience. I had the kale salad and chicken tortilla soup. All the ingredients were fresh (I think they locally sources the produce) and the chicken soup had just the right amount of salt for me. Wait staff was attentive even though they were still busy. Overall, consistently very good experience and will go back again.
Red Pepper consistently delivers great tacos, burritos, margaritas, micheladas, appetizers (get the ceviche or the tuna crudo), as well as service and atmosphere. My wife loves it, and she's pickier than I am, plus she's way more into Mexican food. We both like consistency, and they always deliver. Wish they were closer to my house, but even if we were further away they're worth the drive to Briarcliff.
The carne asada and pollo asada tacos were great. Unfortunately our service was not the greatest. Our server forgot to bring our appetizer which once we reminded him came with our food. Our server may have been new however seemed "disengaged". Otherwise I may return at a later time for a better experience.
I enjoyed my first visit to Red Pepper Taqueria, but not so much this visit. The noise level was so high (cement walls, metal ceiling, bounce the voices) that we had to lean toward each other and shout to hear each other. I ordered the Salsa Trio. I expected the salsa verde to be medium heat level. It was certainly that. But all three were so hot that it was hard to enjoy the taste of the salsa. The two red salsas made my stomach hurt. That has never happened in any other Mexican restaurant. My wife took one tiny sampling of the salsas and would not have any more. I took them home to mix with milder salsas so I could enjoy them. The noise and overly hot salsas put a damper on the meal and experience this time.
In town for business, hit the Open Table app for places nearby. Red Pepper seemed not too fancy, but with good food. Reserved a table, although on a Tuesday night there were very few people there. Ordered 4 oysters on half shell, and the barbacoa and pescado tacos. Oysters were huge, tasty, and served with a good cocktail sauce as well as a side of a vinagrette of some sort. Very good. Tacos were solid as well - got a corn tortilla with the barbacoa: didn't hold up as well as the flour tortilla, but definitely added to the taste.
Oh, and the RB margarita was excellent.
This place is really a sports bar. The service was very bad. We ordered a couple of appetizers and an El Duo for eah of us. Everything was brought out at once! Our waitress only became attentive and friendly when it was time to deliver the check. The only person that acted like we were welcome there was the hostess. Although the tacos are very good, we will try another taqueria next time.
