Loved the tartare. COD was also very nice. Would have liked more variety.
Outstanding products used to prepare the dishes! The kitchen does not compromise on any detail on how the food is prepared, perfect feel for the balance between the ingredients and spices used. Outstanding and very friendly service.
It was my wife’s birthday and we love the chefs tasting and pairing menu. And as usual we were not disappointed.
Thank you Red Ox for a great evening
music too loud to hear the server. Will bump my return down a notch
Excellent as usual, always a reliable spot for that special someone
Fabulous and consistent! We've introduced many friends and family to The Red Ox Inn, all who've been delighted. My 84 year old aunt was our latest inductee as we celebrated her birthday - She loved it! Flexible seating to accommodate small to moderate sized groups
and I have even booked a Staff Appreciation Dinner here. You feel comfortable while being suitable pampered by the knowledgeable table staff. An exceptional experience!
Have been going to this restaurant for years, always enjoyable.
Great atmosphere, delicious food every single time. It does not disappoint.
Once again, a 10 out of 10! We will definitely go back !
Everything was great. I would've enjoyed a little more aioli on the tartar, but the flavors were great!
I had the duck and my friend had the beef. I'm normally a duck man, and this duck was delicious, but I actually preferred my friends flat iron.
The beef was perfectly seasoned, it's accompaniments complimented the flavour and those potatoes set up the entire dish.
All in all, an absolute treat and I will for sure be back.
Dennise was our server as well, and she's phenomenal.
The food and service as always was delicious. It was the perfect way to spend my Birthday. Thank You :).
Had the New York strip steak was very tough, I realize this cut of meat can often be tough but would hope a restaurant of this calibre could do something a little more to make it less, better option is not to put it on menu there are many other cuts that are much more tender
We were celebrating our six-year anniversary with an early dinner. Considering the restaurant opened at 5pm and our reservation was for the same time, we were the only table for a good while. This was nice, as it was our first time and we could gawk as much as we wanted. The interior is very small with maybe 11 tables or so (some were pushed together though), so it was quite intimate. Sevice was very professional yet friendly. Our food was delicious, we had two appetizers and two mains, two drinks and a dessert to share. Price for everything was reasonable for the quality of food and service we enjoyed.
Our server Allison was excellent! She was knowledgeable about the food and wine selections. Well-paced meal and top-quality food! Can’t wait to go back.
Food was amazing! We enjoyed ourselves :) it was nice to be able to make a reservation (I highly suggest you do). Next time we will try to request a cute quiet corner table.
It’s a small place but they do it well!
We have been to the Red Ox Inn a few times now. It never disappoints. The food is delicious!
Everything was delicious. Cozy atmosphere. Personable service.
The service was excellent. Our waiter was well versed with the menu and was able to offer answers to any questions we had. He was also able to suggest a small ingredient change for one of our guests to still be able to enjoy the dish she wanted. The price point for the meals was good. The appetizers were on the small side (only good for a couple bites) but very tasty. The mains were hearty and very filling.
Went out for a special evening. Have been to Red Ox previously. Noticed the costs went up and portion of meals/deserts went down/less for what you pay for!! As well noticed the service was not as attentive as on previous occasions. Bit of a concern. Will go back again but will be a while. Wud be good as well if server(s) would ask how the meal/desert was??!! We ordered a cheese platter for desert. For 14.00 to get 2 cheeses (the hard cheese -cheddar was quite minimal) some apple jelly and crackers was high for what you get. Either add more on the platter or adjust the price downward!! Our water glasses were not topped up until end of entrees. Missing the personal touches that we’ve experienced on previous occasions. Note to all at Red Ox - you have to improve or risk losing patrons such as us.
Great eats. I will eat here again. Such good eating.
The food & service were amazing! The scallop and Arctic char appies were delightful and the gnocchi was creamy goodness. Our waitress was fantastic. Ambience got 3 stars because the owners need to cozy up the walls of the restaurant. I don't believe there was one piece of wall decor up. The 'atmosphere' seem a bit cold in there. And the music playlist they had on during the evening was a bit odd. However my overall experience was great. The food is on point.
Outstanding menu. Had the beef tartare, scallops, duck, beef and 2 desserts plus wine. Phenomenal flavours. Bill was almost 2 bills but if youre gonna splurge, this is the place in my opinion.
The Red Ox Inn never disappoints!!
Fabulous food and outstanding service.
The perfect place for a romantic dinner with that special someone.
Excellent meal, limited menu options but all are well prepared and presented Disappointing dessert.
Food was terrific, i love eating at the Red Ox and i have recommended it to everyone i know. The wine list is awesome, great Scotch options. Only downside is my wife and I always end up eating at Red Ox during the winter and the draft from the door can be chilly at times.
Some of the best dishes I've ever tasted. While the food is pricey you get what you pay for. Everything was cooked, seasoned and presented perfectly. They were able to accommodate my fiancée with her gluten allergy with the regular dishes however there were very few items when it came to dessert. Even if it's frozen, I would suggest having a stand in gluten free dessert available to people with Celiac Disease. Overall a great experience and I would suggest trying their duck which was easily the best duck I've ever eaten.
The Beef!!! Get it. Love it. Leave it, but go back for more at a later date. Just good food period!
I have an extremely hard to cater for diet due to my epilepsy to avoid all seizure triggers (no dairy, gluten, corn, soy, caffeine, alcohol, refined sugars, msg, aspartame) and this was the first restaurant in Edmonton willing to try and make me a meal which I appreciate a LOT.
I have dined here before I had this brain injury and the food was outstanding already! It just shows they will go the extra mile to accommodate anyone so people with allergies, this is the place to try! Even if you don't have any allergies or food restrictions you will still thank me later when you have one of the best cooked meals this city has to offer.
We weren’t starving so only ordered a salad I share and each an entree. Salad was great.
I usually really LOVE the duck here but found it still good but not like before. It usually has a slight crisp to the exterior and a super tender and moist interior but it almost reminded me of ham this time....
I usually like the bread pudding too but found it seemed undercooked... the apples were raw and crisp and it was wet and doughy inside....and not warm at all.....couldn’t be bothered to send it back as we had babysitters and we’re on a time crunch.
Also, I felt slightly cold the whole time this visit. There was definitely a draft but I suppose it may have been the super cold weather overall...
This visit was not as good as my usually visits here. Was a bit disappointed. It’s usually a restaurant I rave about.....I’m a total foodie and this visit was not the usual 5 I would give it.
I would highly recommend the Red Ox Inn to everyone. It has an extensive wine list and the quality of food and service is A+. On a personal note; the lamb was absolutely outstanding.
A little disappointed compared to prior visits. Service inattentive. Several courses underwhelming. Maybe they were just having an off day.
Fantastic meal with prompt and polite service. Would definitely recommend for a date!
On a frigid Wednesday evening, my friend and I enjoyed having the restaurant almost entirely to ourselves. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The highlight for me was the gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce. I will be back.
Had a great meal, my wife said the duck was some of the best ever.
Great hidden gem.
The flavours and creative dishes make the food amazing
Friendly, knowledgeable service.
Wonderful server was attentive, well-informed and alert to the conversation at our table. Then the food arrived! Well, what a combination!
We went there for our anniversary in January after a friend told me about this restaurant. I don't know where to begin. Start to finish it was amazing. My husband referred to it as a 'spiritual culinary experience' (we are quite the foodies). Everything was incredibly flavorful and we really enjoyed the atmosphere; very quaint. I don't know how we have never been there before but will definitely go back there again and again! It's not cheap but it is well worth the $ in my opinion as the food is made with so much care and attention. Our server, Allison, also added to the experience; she was wonderful. I could go on and on but I think I made my point!
Very calm and relaxing. The staff was helpful and courteous.
Very tiny place but worth the trip. Food is good. FYI. the sharables/appetizers are only tastes for one person. Very tiny portion.
Great atmosphere, friendly waiter, and the food was excellent!
