Shane is the best! Attentive, happy and respectful! Made it a great experience.
We had a reservation and were a bit early, so the hostess made us wait. We were not offered a place to wait, so we were standing in the entryway and it seemed we were "in the way" of everything going on. The manager saw me standing in the doorway and asked me if I needed help but once I said we were early for our reservation he didn't follow through to offer us a table or a place to wait. He just walked away.
The turnover at tables seemed quick, there were empty tables available and I noticed the table we were seated at had a RESERVED sign on it, so I'm not sure why we had to wait in the doorway. I understand the restaurant was busy with two wedding parties, but it seemed to me the servers were confused and didn't know the tables and the correct orders.
The barbeque sauce had a bit too much smoke flavor for our taste.
It was a fairly frantic and loud place the afternoon we were there. I might try the restaurant under different circumstances.
This is a very nice space with a casual feel, a loft and an interesting menu. It is a little pricey but the Old City location is great (right near Independence Hall). The service was outstanding - friendly but not overbearing. We only had wine (expensive by the glass but decent) but the cocktails did look fun. We had the mushroom tart appetizer - the beets and cauliflower that accompanied it were tasty bites and the tart itself had perfectly cooked mushrooms and a light, flaky crust. The salmon was butter and the grain served with it light and creamy. Asparagus was grilled and done just right. We really enjoyed the service and the food.
We came for dinner. They had a special of the day, the Lobster Seafood Pot. It was on sale for $25. Normally $39. We both tried it. The seafood was too soft. It must have been in a big pot and simmering for a while. We also had the octopus appetizer. It was also to soft. The cooks need to do a better job on the seafood.
The restaurant is located adjoining to a hotel. It was clean with a large bar with one tv.
Don’t think we would be going back.
The infused bourbon cocktail was fantastic. My pork porterhouse was great. And they serve an excellent burger. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet cozy. Bartender was nice and helpful.
Brunch was excellent. We had the short rib sandwich and the s'mores waffle. Unique and delicious.
Food was excellent and so was the service !
Service very good. Food great although asked for steak frites well done and was closer to medium. Toffee pudding cake ok but not as good as I hoped. Frites were excellent!
Had brunch on Easter. We all had a great meal. The Food was delicious and our waitress was spot on. I was disappointed Red Owl did offer the bottomless mimosas like they had when we had Easter brunch last year. Seriously Red Owl, I hope they bring it back🍾🍾
Eat here often, always a good experience. The steak frites is phenomenal! Have never had a bad experience here
It was my first visit and I will definitely return .
Excellent service and good food. The server was nice.
I love this restaurant...BEST Salmon & Asparagus ever!
Great service, excellent waitress. Loud atmosphere but it was St Patrick’s Day. Fantastic visit all around.
Okay, it was a Friday night, so it was super loud on the bar. Moved upstairs. The cod meal was very good. We also had a burger and fries--very good. Had a Guinness and Troegs Java stout beers--both were delicious. Service was outstanding! Definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful experience!!! We were a party of 7 and did have to wait a short time for our table. The hostess was very apologetic and offered us two complimentary appetizers. Which was very nice and greatly appreciated. The service was great. Very pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious!!! Everyone loved what they ordered. Can’t wait to go back.
Drinks and meals were served quickly. Crab eggs benedict were perfect!
Fantastic server in Keeli!! She had great recommendations and was always there when we needed her and has a tremendous attitude and took great care of us. Food was good, a bit pricey when you consider a burger for $25. Downside was very small cocktails at $14/pop. Overpriced for the overall value. Only had 2 entrees, 1 salad, 2 apps and 2 desserts with 4-5 drinks. When we got the $300 tab we thought we broke a window.😉 Would come back but would also consider other options first with better overall ambience, value and scene that wouldn’t cost you $300-$325. Good place.
Nice, would go back again.
We stopped in here because we had another appointment in the neighborhood. To be frank it was Saturday brunch and two burgers with some fries and two glasses of wine for $75 plus a tip was NOT good value for money. The service was like what you would expect at a Fridays, Chillies or other chain burger place.
The food was over salted --sauce on the steak was terrible-- I left most of the steak over and ate the fries. The porkchop was ok but not great. However, our waiter was wonderful. We will
stick to the burgers next time!
Had delicious salad for lunch. Greens and grains with wonderful almonds on top. Looking forward to having it again!
The portion size for one the more expensive entrees was ridiculously small. First time here and probably our last I was out with a big group
We stayed at the Kimpton and found it was better to reserve a table through OpenTable then the maitre de. We asked for a table at the restaurant and was told the wait would be 1hour , but on Open table it was listed 30 -45 minutes less. When I told the Maitre de about this he was awful rude unfriendly and impatient. He told me rudely the only reason I got a reservation on Open table was because it was an outdoor table still listed available in winter. He said do you want a table or not? As a guest of the hotel, and after having a reservation for 18 the prior day, you would think your patronage would be appreciated. He was god awful! I loved everything about the hotel, but this guy was not professional . He couldn't handle the job. We eventually ate our lunch and drinks in the lobby. The waitstaff was professional, the bar tenders hard working, but the host has got to go. The absolute worst!
Food was tasteful. Alittle pricey for what you get. Service excellent. Would go back definately.
Food was good. Extremely noisy.
Food was WAY below average and terribly executed. 20$ burger was cold..COLD.
Pleasant and polite, but super slow server- missing much of the time. So slow the hostess helped him out a bit.
The food was so good, and we made it to our show on time, so it all worked out....
Well over priced. Food was okay and portion size was small.
Best Salmon and asparagus EVER!
This is my second time to the Red Owl, and the service and the food is incredible. We had Maggie as our server, and she was fabulous. I went with friends and we enjoyed getting to sit upstairs in a cozy booth. I love their burger and fries- though my friend had the duck leg which was also so savory. They have gluten free bread and they had a gluten free chocolate cake too! Thanks Red Owl for another awesome dining experience.
The food was good, a little pricey for what it is. I was hoping to experience Philly's Restaurant Week and while Red Owl was participating in it they did not have it available for Saturday lunch.
Other restaurants clearly stated online if they were not offering the Restaurant Week menu on the weekend, but Red Owl made no mention of it. I would have selected a different restaurant had I known this. This was extremely disappointing.
Great place. Good food. Great food. Service was great.
I came here for breakfast they had a lot of great options. The coffee was amazing and we tried the egg white omelette it had my taste buds dancing. Highly recommend for a healthier meal option that is so delicious.
Fantastic! Great food and service. Thank you Chef Shawn!
I ordered 2 cups of hot water. The waitress charged me $10. I complained and asked her why and she said because she had to do it.
My wife and I were in town from Harleysville at noon to volunteer for several hours at Philabundance and we had tickets for the Orchestra that evening. So we decided to stay downtown all day and I landed on the Red Owl Tavern as a restaurant choice purely by chance. The noise level was beyond energetic and the menu choices were limited but both our meals were excellent and our server was terrific.
Best salmon and best asparagus I have EVER had! I eat in good restaurants often.
Love the food and service
Came here for brunch on New Years Day. Maybe the service was very slow because of the holiday. No juice was available because the juicer was broken. The food took approximately 50 minutes to come out. The food was good but we probably won't come back because of the other issues.
