Good food, good drinks, relaxed atmosphere
Birthday dinner. Waitress was nice. Food was decent. They sat us by the door and it was really cold.
Received a gift certificate. They were accommodating as our reservations were for 5 PM. We finished up at a museum much earlier and they were able to take us at three. Our waitress was outstanding. Brunch menu until five, not very appealing to us.
Food was high quality and service was good.
Disappointing that we could not get the cornbread
Great service from the staff.
Appetizers were very slow and came out with min of main meal.
Main courses were good…certainly not great. Philly cheese from Philly was disappointingly ordinary.
Soup was bland.
Overall ok for what we got but will not be going back.
Morning of my wedding. Great experience
It was horrible. Only 5 expensive entrees on the menu. $20 cheesesteak, $25 hamburger, $5 for lemonade. $81 bill for 3 persons, no appetizers nor desserts
Very loud bar atmosphere
Very good food service was great, atmosphere was good.Menu selection limited but everything was delicious.
Food came out in timely fashion and was hot
We ate outside. The restaurant was a little short-staffed, as many are these days. But the waitress was calm and charming and professional and all went smoothly. The brunch food was REALLY good, from the blueberry pancakes to the veggie omelet to the shrimp and grits to the avocado toast! The sidewalk was pretty busy with people checking out at that time and lots of cars backing up, driving around and honking sometimes, but there are planters that mostly protect the diners from the crowded scene. Nice sunny corner across from Independence Park and a churchyard and shaded by large umbrellas.
food was great, but the drinks took a while to come out.
After 15 minutes I could not even order a drink. Staff was disinterested at best, abhorrent at worst. Would never visit again.
One of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. We bring friends, guests, and tours to Red Owl Tavern regularly and the service is always phenomenal. The menu has incredibly creative dishes and the bartender Richard really knows how to serve well. I'll definitely be continuing to go back many more times.
Enjoyed our meal. Very impressed
Red Owl has potential with a few improvements. The shrimp and grits had a dominant Old Bay seasoning and needed more flavor balance. The biscuits and gravy arrived under seasoned and the biscuit texture was off. The croissants were fabulous…an exact French pastry… and the fresh fruit was hand cut and perfectly ripe. LaColombe coffee was served and my latté was beautiful. Our server was absolutely lovely but obviously overwhelmed with the brunch pace. She would have benefited from support from bussers or food runners to get creamer for coffee refills, spoons etc. Our meal was delivered very quickly, which we appreciated. We will visit the restaurant again and try other items.
Zachary and Sumiya was an excellent server. I would recommend Nova Lox, Chicken and Waffles, Bottomless Mimosa, and Salmon Cesar salad. The ice latte and Hendrix gin was excellent to.
Why 4 four stars? Well, it was not something amazing or taste challenging and we had to send back my son’s burger back as it was just burned on one side. At the same time, considering how busy brunch could be and how late we look for reservations, the place was great. I would come back the again if I am looking at brunch with the family in old town. Especially if you stay in Monaco or Renaissance hotels or planning an early morning trip to liberty bell as it is just steps away from it.
Quality food and great option for breakfast or brunch! Especially convenient to historical landmarks and for guests of the Kimpton Monaco.
We had the cheese steak and Tavern burger. Both had very good flavor and the burger was juicy. I wish the menu was a little larger.
So disappointed. I’ve eaten here before and the food has been good but my breakfast was horrible. The service was super slow and when we finally got our food, it was cold. We were there for my daughter’s birthday and while I didn’t make a special note of it on the reservation, my daughter was opening presents. I was surprised that the waitress didn’t at least wish her happy birthday or bring something out (a piece of cake w a candle?) in celebration. I know that the food service industry is suffering in trying to find help, but other restaurants I’ve been to - the food and service and overall experience have not been this bad.
food was so good!! There was bit of an issue with seltzer’s and club soda but the waitress took the mishaps off the bill!(: Everyone was extremely nice.
Came in for Sunday brunch and it wasn’t busy at all. The biscuits and gravy is a delicious dish but definitely come with an appetite!! It’s a lot more food than it seems, but totally worth the food coma.
The service staff is very friendly and the place was clean. The food was good, but a little overpriced for what you actually got.
Food was good, service was good. Perfect place for a nice lunch while visiting the sites in Philly.
Food was good. 3 top tables too close together. No privacy.
Server wonderful, great spot!
Great breakfast place in center city; really enjoyed eating outside and getting to people (and dog) watch! Great breakfast options and we really enjoyed the brunch mimosa special! Definitely reocmmend.
Tables really close together & extremely noisy. Had the Phil’s steak & Cheese & was very disappointed. Just a large mass of meat on a roll. The cheese & onions must of disintegrated, because you could not see or taste them.
Our third time here and have yet to be disappointed.
The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive. The food was fabulous. I had the blueberry pancakes and my sister had the BAE breakfast sandwich. It was the perfect setting for an impromptu meal.
Good food but a little on the expensive side!
We live close by and had a visitor from out of town. We have frequented the Red Owl Tavern on multiple occasions and it was our first choice for lunch. Open table made it easy to get a reservation which was definitely needed. Great experience in the historic district!
Food was good; unique offerings. My meal was tasty but not out of this world (general tso cauliflower). The cocktails were also unique, I just happened not to enjoy mine which is partly my fault. Overall it was a decent dining experience, the staff and bartenders were wonderful.
I choose outdoor seating and it still was a great experience. Food was delicious and different but I would recommend this restaurant
We’re staying the Kimpton Monaco. The Red Owl Tavern is the restaurant here. It is awesome! The staff is amazing and do a great job. They work very hard to make it a great experience. We will definitely be back both here and the hotel!
Too small, didn't like the silverware, coffee cream had stuff floating on top. Bloody Mary was not good. But the server was nice. Food was not bad but not the best.
Good food and service ..
This was such a cute place for lunch. We had visitors from Florida and the location Red Owl and the atmosphere was great to showcase Philly! Thanks for a great visit.
