The portion size for one the more expensive entrees was ridiculously small. First time here and probably our last I was out with a big group
We stayed at the Kimpton and found it was better to reserve a table through OpenTable then the maitre de. We asked for a table at the restaurant and was told the wait would be 1hour , but on Open table it was listed 30 -45 minutes less. When I told the Maitre de about this he was awful rude unfriendly and impatient. He told me rudely the only reason I got a reservation on Open table was because it was an outdoor table still listed available in winter. He said do you want a table or not? As a guest of the hotel, and after having a reservation for 18 the prior day, you would think your patronage would be appreciated. He was god awful! I loved everything about the hotel, but this guy was not professional . He couldn't handle the job. We eventually ate our lunch and drinks in the lobby. The waitstaff was professional, the bar tenders hard working, but the host has got to go. The absolute worst!
Food was tasteful. Alittle pricey for what you get. Service excellent. Would go back definately.
Food was good. Extremely noisy.
Food was WAY below average and terribly executed. 20$ burger was cold..COLD.
Pleasant and polite, but super slow server- missing much of the time. So slow the hostess helped him out a bit.
The food was so good, and we made it to our show on time, so it all worked out....
Well over priced. Food was okay and portion size was small.
Best Salmon and asparagus EVER!
This is my second time to the Red Owl, and the service and the food is incredible. We had Maggie as our server, and she was fabulous. I went with friends and we enjoyed getting to sit upstairs in a cozy booth. I love their burger and fries- though my friend had the duck leg which was also so savory. They have gluten free bread and they had a gluten free chocolate cake too! Thanks Red Owl for another awesome dining experience.
The food was good, a little pricey for what it is. I was hoping to experience Philly's Restaurant Week and while Red Owl was participating in it they did not have it available for Saturday lunch.
Other restaurants clearly stated online if they were not offering the Restaurant Week menu on the weekend, but Red Owl made no mention of it. I would have selected a different restaurant had I known this. This was extremely disappointing.
Great place. Good food. Great food. Service was great.
I came here for breakfast they had a lot of great options. The coffee was amazing and we tried the egg white omelette it had my taste buds dancing. Highly recommend for a healthier meal option that is so delicious.
Fantastic! Great food and service. Thank you Chef Shawn!
I ordered 2 cups of hot water. The waitress charged me $10. I complained and asked her why and she said because she had to do it.
My wife and I were in town from Harleysville at noon to volunteer for several hours at Philabundance and we had tickets for the Orchestra that evening. So we decided to stay downtown all day and I landed on the Red Owl Tavern as a restaurant choice purely by chance. The noise level was beyond energetic and the menu choices were limited but both our meals were excellent and our server was terrific.
Best salmon and best asparagus I have EVER had! I eat in good restaurants often.
Love the food and service
Came here for brunch on New Years Day. Maybe the service was very slow because of the holiday. No juice was available because the juicer was broken. The food took approximately 50 minutes to come out. The food was good but we probably won't come back because of the other issues.
New Year’s Eve
Fabulous find in a great location!
While looking for a fun place to eat near Independence Hall, we wandered into the Red Owl Tavern. What a treat! Great atmosphere, amazing drink menu, friendly server and an interesting menu. All of this made for a great evening out!
Very convenient to museums and has nice atmosphere. Tried to order Southern Comfort/rocks from bar and they didn't carry it. Our filets(?) Steak Frites were tough. Not likely to return.
Went to restaurant with family on Xmas, one of only restaurants open. Was excited when we arrived, as it was bustling and fun. We were then disappointed, as food was just fair. Took forever for food to arrive. Too expensive.
SO and I went for Christmas dinner and were seated in one of the booths in the back. The ambiance is lovely, dimmed lights and red lanterns (which matched the Chinese pop up theme). However, the food left a lot to be desired. The broccoli was overly charred, the smoky flavor was overwhelming. There were very few vegetarian options (only one main course). The burger was one of the worst my SO has experienced. The service was very aloof.
We stayed in the hotel and won’t order from them again.
I should have done my research on this place before making a reservation. They advertised that they would be playing a Christmas Story all day, so I thought that it would be a great place for Christmas dinner since we would not be with family this year. I was pretty bummed when I arrived and was told that the one tv in the restaurant was changed to football. I also thought there would be authentic Chinese food, not Chinese-inspired food so that was also a let down. I would not have been as disappointed if it were a typical dinner on a normal day, but I had higher hopes for Christmas.
Stopped here for brunch on a Thursday morning. Service was warm, but incredibly slow. I honestly believe our server forgot to put in our order, and left us sitting there forever. It's a small place so it's not like she didn't see us! And of course we were in a bit of a hurry. Disappointing
We heard great things but our experience did not live up to the hype. There were no more than 5 parties seated in the upstairs area so I know no one was particularly busy. My medium rare steak frites were on the medium raw side. When I sent it back - it was about 10-15 minutes before I saw my meal again. Kudos for not reheating but sending a new one. However, my dining companion and I planned to eat together - not watch each other eat. When the bill came - there was no recognition of what transpired. When I asked for the manager, she did make a slight reduction. All in all, I would never go back.
Late lunch. It was busy, but not crowded. Seated quickly. Food was delicious. Server was attentive.
This is our favorite place to dine, deliciousness wrapped in a wow experience with Katherine as our server!❤️
We came here after the Army-Navy game with a party of 10. They were very accommodating. The cocktails were creative and fun and they had a good selection of beers. The corn fritter appetizer was yummy and the charcuterie and cheese boards were a perfect start. The duck and steak got rave reviews. Pasta also was excellent. Shane, our server, was attentive and fun and gave great recommendations.
Drinks were pricey. Food was tasty. Two people ordered individual steaks but they were out so they ordered the largest steak and split it. It was plenty for 2. Burgers are messy but good!
A bit loud but kind of cool, hip place. Staff was accommodating to special requests like salad instead of fries for some. Those that got fries...they were awesome. We would go there again.
