Felt very welcomed. We’re given complimentary glass of champagne after the manager was informed we were celebrating a special occasion. Service was very quick.
Pretty expensive for some mediocre grub. Must be the location. Plenty of better spots you can go to in old Philly.
As always- excellent food! They did a great job with the seating and we never felt uneasy or nervous. Service was excellent.
The service was excellent. Very fast, friendly, the server was wonderful. Made suggestions, brought food out immediately. The atmosphere is amazing.
Food choices were boring! Brunch was very limited. For the food offered the prices were quite high. Definitely better Brunch options in the nearby vicinity. Although the breakfast sandwich was well-made I could get a similar quality at a diner. I was surprised at the lack of creativity in the dishes.
Food was fine, nothing special and somewhat overpriced. I expected the food to be better quality since the menu was so limited and selective. Overall, it was good not great. Service also took a while to get our waters and orders placed upon seating.
The service was great!!! The server was nice and made sure that we was comfortable. The food was good.
Service was amazing and the food was really good.
Horrific and I do mean HORRIBLE, HORRIFIC!!!!!!!! The telephone girl-bartender-delivery girl-order taker girl Sara is terrible!!!! She is so inappropriate and immature that it’s a true disservice to Ref Owl. I will not be returning after being a loyal patron for 8 years which I think might have been when the originally opened. The one man show is nor a good look!
Waitstaff was wonderful and friendly.
Food was amazing and came quickly and hot! It is a repeat!!
Great service and ambiance
Service was great. I ordered the porkchop, probably the best porkchop I have ever had.
So good!!!! Table was not ready upon arrival even though I made a reservation. Trying to find the entrance was a bit troublesome also bc the sidewalk was taped off. The food made up for these discrepancies as it was amazzzziinngggggg!!! So good I had to salute Chef before I left. Very very fresh food...nothing processed. Chill, cozy atmosphere...suitable for date night or night out with friends. Will absolutely be back AND recommend friends!!!!!
I have missed RedOwl! Service and food - EXCELLENT!
Was very impressed with Red Owl, especially in light of COVID. Very spacious and accommodating seating and great service. Food was delicious.
Great service and great food! Was a perfect place to get appetizers and drinks with friends or have a dinner in a bar type atmosphere.
We ate here several times pre covid and it was ok. Tonight was terrible. The menu is limited. We had Burrata. The focaccia were pieces of white toast that were so greasy. One side slathered in oil. The tomatoes and burrata were swimming in oil.. The caesar salad was soaked in dressing and had a lot of kraft parm cheese on it.. The parmesan truffle fries were so greasy.
The roasted chicken was ok. The steak was over cooked and there was some sauce on it that tasted terrible. The ahi tuna was fishy. My son liked his salmon. They gave us plastic utensils and not the sturdy type. The napkin that came with it was a piece of toilet paper. I asked for real napkins and got cocktail napkins. I thought for dinner we would get real utensils but no. You can not use that cheap knife to cut meat. We have been out to 4 restaurants before this one. we used real utensils and got real napkins.
The server was excellent.
we will not be back.
Food was very good and the place was very nice
We went here for a birthday dinner and were sat outside in the dark. No lights near the table, no light on the umbrella, literally sitting in the dark. It was not fun and no one from the restaurant seemed to care or try to make it right. The service was just ok. We didn’t see our waitress often but that’s probably because she could see our table since it was in the dark.. The food wasn’t great but also how good can food be eating in the dark? Overall not a great experience and if you’re going to go make sure you call and request to not eat in the dark... lol that is all
Our server was energetic, friendly, and anticipated all of our needs. All of the staff were wearing face shields and masks so I felt safe and comfortable and that they took public health seriously. The food came out quickly and was delicious and the portions were generous. Will definitely be back
Visited for Restaurant week and was not disappointed. Dined inside (YAY!!). Social distance was great, service was great, and food was great!
The staff was wonderful! Everyone attended to us and made sure our experience was pleasant. The place was beautiful and the food was very tasty.
Great drinks and food.
Great food even with the abbreviated covid menu - steak-frites and tuna were delicious - and they still make some of the best cocktails I've had in the city. Their staff HUSTLES too. Overall great experience
Red Owl was great! I’m still learning different places in the city to eat and drink and had friends visiting from New York. I wish every place I took them was as great as Red Owl. You’ve earned a loyal and vocal customer. Thank you!
we ha reservation on 3:30. We went to the hostess to remains him/her about our reservation. The hosts keep forgetting our table. We got sited at 3:45 after the third times asking the host about our table. The waiter is not very good, he came up to us only get our order and check.
First time here. Tried the cheesesteak, I was skeptical at first but it was delicious. Definitely one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had.
The food was very good. I had the salmon and my daughter had the chicken
Super expensive for mediocre at best food. Would not go back.. Menu was small and food was meh.
Seating was limited so my wife and I were at tables just outside of the door to the restaurant with no breeze.
Looking forward to a return visit in the early evening with the umbrellas down so that we can enjoy the sunset over Independence Hall.
Server knew nothing about the menu , BUT DID HER BEST !! Thank you to her!!
Food took forever to come out order the Filet Mignon.. it came with fires. Steak was cold! My date ordered the same with rice, RICE WAS ICE COLD! !!! Sent back asked for mashed potatoes!! The mashed potatoes was the best thing she ordered.
For drinks we had “philly fish rum punch..” all ice and rum .! Wasn’t mixed at its best I’ve had it before and it was actually good. Today must have just been a bad day.
Outdoor dining during this period of time but the food was phenomenal! I came with five other people and we enjoyed all of our food (no leftovers)!

Three of us all had the Lobster Clambake. For $25 you get a lobster with mussels shrimp corn and potatoes. Just delicious but only Monday and Tuesday.
In light of Covid, plastic cutlery and disposable plates were used which were such poor quality, it made the dining experience feel like a wasted meal out. My fork broke, and I was unable to cut my steak frites with the knife. They should invest in better quality disposable cutlery and plates. Server was pleasant, food fair. Will not be going back.
the open table menu doest match the actual menu on the QR code
Great service!
Had the spicy cauliflower Lund which was tasty but pretty meager for $20. The worse is all items are now being served on paper plates and plastic cups and utensils. All restaurants have moved out door seating, and most use their crystal and plates and silver as usual. Red Owl does not. The situation is bad enough as it is (90 degree weather and high humidity) but to also add picnic wear to this food is really a bad idea. It was an unfortunate experience to me.
We all loved our food, from appetizers to desserts. The only exception was my husband didn't like the meatballs. Our server was great, and service was pretty quick. Fun and laidback vibe, but wish there was more space inside. Sitting in the tables downstairs you feel a little cramped. Overall though, we really enjoyed Red Owl! Would recommend!
The potatoes and beneights were incredible. However the omelet was a big disappointment.
