Great meal, convenient location. Pork chop was cooked perfectly.
Our waiter was wonderful!! He really went the extra mile to be sure that we were happy with both our food and drink. Both my companion and I were thoroughly impressed.
Unique menu; great location near historic Philadelphia sights; friendly, helpful service
drinks at the bar were wonderful and yummy, and food was amazing and also the dessert, waiter was very helpful and asked how everything was and did we need anything else.
Excellent food for a pub--way beyond our expectations. Great service. Recommend the upstairs dining area, as the downstairs bar area is a bit noisy. We will return!
It was a good way to spend Mardi Gras.
Excellent brunch — salmon dip, charcuterie and salads all top-notch.
Food was delicious and our server was lovely! Would highly recommend!
Good food, good service. Loud and tables too close together.
Good food. Pricey for what it is ($13 for soup).
Breakfast. Was great
We visited during lunch and ordered the crab roll and Troegs nectar nugget. Bartender was friendly and ambiance is inviting. Great for business meetings.
We had a wonderful time welcoming a new student to our graduate program! Thanks for working with me when I had to change the time and making sure that my visit registered on OpenTable.
My Duck was awsom but the broccoli and mashed potatoes looked and tasted great but we’re cold
We were really looking forward to our date night at Red Owl. A few minutes upon being seated and we were about to place our order, we were told that the two entree items we were anticipating and eager to have were sold out of. Our waitress tried her best to make the situation better by recommending other dishes. The things she recommended were usual things we have tried, we wanted something different for Our Valentines Day Weekend. The waitress tried her best but it’s when you go out and anticipate something and don’t find it, it makes the dinner not worth it.
Great good and staff!! Out first time in Philly and we will definately come back:)
Excellent, fresh, high quality food. Great comfortable restaurant with good service.
Great experience, food was great and liked that I was able to substitute a salad for the fries. Server was very attentive and friendly.
Lunch selection was limited and not very creative. Location is terrific but the facility felt worn down.
Nice farm to table like restaurant with friendly staff.
We went there for Valentine's day, did enjoy the kale salad,
ordered a couple of fish dishes that were good but not spectacular.
Cool ambience and decor
We went here for Valentine's Day and had such a lovely evening. It is right across the street from historic landmarks such as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell which add to the atmosphere of the tavern. The decor is very industrial and fits together well. We tried the fried calamari with mustard remoulade and the pan seared scallops (which were absolute perfection), followed by tender filet mignon and dazzling homemade seafood pappardelle. Truly an unforgettable night with an unforgettable meal.
We had Sunday brunch here and we waited an incredibly long time for our food. Our waitress didn’t apologize. The manager did seem to help when we finally got fed up. The food was fair, at best. The fries were so salty and the panzanella salad was really just one big plate of cheese. Everything else just fair. Won’t be going back.
The ambiance and the drinks were great. But the food was not good. I had the roasted half chicken and added the winter Mac n cheese. They were both horrible. I should have know that the Mac wasn’t going to be good from the ingredients. It was no one’s Mac n cheese. But even as just a pasta dish it was bad. The only good thing was the corn & crab fritters. The service was great however.
Very good food and drinks. Enjoy brunch menu a lot.
Used Open Table to book the reservation. Stated that this was a date night dinner. Requested a nice corner table. Got the nice corner table but the host seated a table of 6 right next to us who were having a party. It got loud enough so that my wife and I had a hard time speaking.
Food and service were excellent.
Drinks were pricey.
It’s fine and convenient. I’m just not thrilled with the menu offerings. Hard to find something I want to eat on the dinner menu They try too hard to be creative. Preferred if they had more sandwich salad appetizer choices with less esoteric ingredients.
We met a friend from out of town. It was great - not too loud so we couldn’t talk. Food was great too, everyone liked their dinner.
Our server was positively awesome. He was so patient, helpful, and kind. The food was good. I’d like to try it when the menu isn’t so full of heavy winter items.
The food at the Red Owl is always tasty and the service is excellent. But the lunch menu is VERY limited and very expensive.
I was hosting some out-of-town friends who enjoy good wine with their meals. They were disappointed when their first two selections from the restaurant's wine list were not available. We were told that the stock was low because of the New Year's holiday seven days earlier. Seems that a full week should have allowed time for restocking. Our third choice was still a good wine enjoyed by all, which says something positive, I believe, about the overall wine list.
All else about the restaurant was satisfactory. Menu options were varied and appealing, but not extensive. The food preparation and service was very good. Overall dining experience was good, not great. Seems like a place that I would go to occasionally if I lived nearby, but not the place I would take out-of-town guests for a special treat.
Chris and Eric were excellent waiters, they made every meal wonderful!
Went for brunch. Love their burger!
We had great burgers with center city price tag. It had good taste
With a tomato jam that needed help. The service was very helpful
The dessert was very good made with pudding ,cake, caramel
Yum yum yummy. Everyone has very nice and we will be back to something on the menu
Food was top notch, yet it seemed a little over priced for the overall experience.
We had a wonderful lunch/brunch experience on New Years Day. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the menu is varied, with something for everyone, and has many excellent options. The bloody mary bar and bellini bar were very well appointed. We will visit again.
The drinks are great and the food is good, just not worth the price. Went as a group of 3, each had two drinks, two appetizers for the table, and one entrée per person for almost $300. Not planning to go back for dinner--drinks definitely.
We stayed at the hotel for New Years Eve and decided to grab dinner at the Red Owl. Reservations were definitely a good choice, as the restaurant and bar filled quickly.
Menu is very small and limiting. Though they were more than happy to accommodate a Vegan diet, the food quality and options certainly didn’t match the price tag.
Cocktails were nice, server helpful and attentive. A positive experience, but most likely, not one I’ll repeat.
Good food, extremely good service & nice atmosphere!
