Red Onion Cafe
Get the red velvet cheesecake. You’re welcome.
We made reservations for dinner through OpenTable, which is always convenient. Great service during our meal at The Red Onion. I tried the french onion soup and kale trio salad. Both were delicious!
Excellent service & delicious food ! Great experience.
A nice night out to celebrate my birthday with my family.
Very good service and good food! Thanks. 1/18/20
Cute place food was great. The service initially was slow but our food came out quick . Overall good experience.
Well all the rumors I had heard were true, and this is a great place to relax, eat a great meal at a good price, have a drink and not get pushed out the door. Saw folks with some kids, couples, parents with college kid....had something for everyone on the menu....was able to just sit down and enjoy a meal and talk. Yes, I would definitely be coming back here again.
Always a great choice.
One of the best restaurants in Boone, NC
I live the soups, baby kale trio salad, quiche and the salmon and polenta cake is out of this world!
Service was good. Food was a little bland. Everyone in the party had the same comment
Out of salmon so substituted chicken for the salad but same cost. French onion brought out spilt all on saucer with no cheese on top.
We ordered a chicken salad and a ribeye steak for dinner. I asked for my steak medium and it came out basically mooing. The lettuce in the salad, ranch, baked potato and vegetable side with the steak all taste like they are pre-packaged and refrigerated. It does not taste like fresh food. The service was good, the appetizer for the avocado dip was average, and the chicken and steak flavor was average. The restaurant is nice and the service was fine, but the price you pay for the food is not worth the meal. The dip, steak, salad, and beer came out to around $56 with tip. I would recommend going somewhere else that's a little pricier and get your money's worth for quality of food.
Awesome food at a
Very reasonable price!
Our whole family LOVED the variety on the menu and each of our meals was fantastic. But my fav, was the desert..which was the Horace cookie...it was delicious!
Overall food was excellent. Disappointed with the spices in French Onion soup. Seemed like sage or rosemary, weird.
Service was among the worst I've ever had. Loved the food, but staff needs a LOT more training.
Had a really great meal. Food was good, and fresh. Order was also correct. Did feel very rushed to pay after the meal, otherwise great service.
Small portions, asked for a booth to put a baby car seat in at the time of reservation, but they would not give it to us because of a later reservation with more people.
Red Onion has been a favorite since the 80s for us. It remains excellent
This was our first visit and we enjoyed every minute of it. Will come back again when we are in Boon.
Food was great, the service was outstanding our overall time spent there was outstanding.
Try the mushroom lasagna (share coz it's extremely rich). All entrees were excellent, surpassed only by the dessert selections
The restaurant was not full and we were seated right away. Onion rings came out in a reasonable time and were OK, but I would not order again. Then we waited half an hour for our entre. Fortunately, the water pitcher was nearby so we could refill our own glasses. We got tired of waiting, found someone and asked for our check. We were told our food would be right out! We agreed to wait. Low Country Salmon finally arrived. It was very good, but very salty. We had a few bites and asked for a to go box and the check. The waitress took off 25% for the long wait. Probably just an off night, but disappointing.
Great food and service! Would recommend for anyone looking a great meal.
Haven't eaten here in over 20 years, and the food was great, just as I remembered it.
Terrific food at affordable prices with a great staff and location. We will definitely be back next time we are in Boone
The red onion cafe had some delicious Cajun pasta I had, great atmosphere, definitely recommend.
Our server, Brie was excellent and super knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the coffee rubbed filet and it was delicious. Our college student daughter had the champagne chicken florentine and she ate every bite. And I had the low country salmon which had a good flavor except that it was overly salty. We would definitely go back only I would change my order. I love that this is a local restaurant that has been here for 34 years(I think).
the lobster bisque was the best I have had since leaving Florida. And we all had different desserts... all so good! I would highly recommend dinner here for any date or occasion.
Try and score a table outside. My husband housed the meatball hero and I loved the grilled chicken salad.
Food was mediocre. Service was horrible, horrible, horrible!!!
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner and cocktails on the outside patio. Our server Ben did a fabulous job of taking care of us. We had a very nice, quite, and relaxing night out.
Food was good. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. But, this will not prevent me from dining there again.
Much more casual than we expected but top notch food. While the restaurant was kind of loud, if you want a romantic date night vibe, the food is something not to be missed! Yummy artichoke dip with just a little spice. Perfect coffee rubbed filet. The salmon was cooked with crispy skin, grit cake and amazing cajun sauce. Plus, the cajun chicken pasta was a hit with our son. Not to mention, excellent service. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. We will definitely return!
Great atmosphere , friendly staff and great food overall !! The burgers were a little under cooked , pink/red when ordered medium well . I would still go back again and just order well done if getting burgers . Apps were wonderful and delicious !
Very enjoyable lunch
We had reservations but got there early. We were taken and seated. We took some time trying to decide on our meal, but our waiter was VERY patient and returned several times until we had decided. Food was excellent and menu outstanding. We had dietary restrictions and these were honored. We chose to sit outside and the weather was perfect (I know the perfect weather was not because on the restaurant) but it did add to our great experience
Again thank you and our waiter (not sure of the name) for a great experience.
This restaurant satisfied the needs of members of our party who were vegetarian and who needed gluten-free dishes. The variety of the menu allowed all of us to find something we really liked, and the food was good all around.
Thank you for making my son's 20th birthday a wonderful celebration!!
The food was great and the view of the mountains outside added to the experience! Will definitely eat here again!!
We enjoyed the restaurant very much and will return. The Creme Brule was particularly good. The patio was comfortable, aside from a few flying insects, which is unavoidable with outdoor seating. Our server was marvelous.
I ordered Salmon Salad and the poppy seed dressing or something in the salad had a "funky" taste. I was not able to eat it.
