I hadn't been to Red O in awhile and I think the food was better than ever. A few years ago, they'd laugh at you when you asked for an advance reservation - actually happened a couple of times - now, they call to thank you for dining. That was a nice touch but even that paled next to the food which I found amazing. Rediscover this place.
This Red O ambiance very different than one in Newport Beach, much cozier, but not quite the grand ambience of Newport. The server was a bit short with us at first, but once we talked to him he opened up. Food was not the best ever, but it was very good, and only $220 for 4 drinks, 3 entrees, 2 sides and 2 desserts is dirt cheap for the Beverly Hills. Definetly will go back.
Red O offered a 50% discount on food items to military personnel and veterans, so we took advantage of that special. Food was first rate, as always, and service was impeccable. After the bill was settled, Manager Danny came over to the table to thank me for serving and shake my hand.
A very enjoyable evening with great service, tasty margaritas, fantastic filet topped by a roasted tomato salsa and a side if amazing goat cheese tomales, various tacos and enchiladas which were each uniquely delicious, all topped off by Churros. We will be back on a future visit to LA>
Picked Red O to meet my Tinder date since it was nearby. The host was very kind and accommodating when she asked to change tables for no real reason other than to be a little high maintenance. While she was a pain, our server Nick was able to provide excellent service throughout the evening. The tacos were amazing and the shrimp were huge and well prepared. After our dinner I deleted her number but I'll definitely be back to Red O again!
This was a restaurant that exceeded my expectations. Based on some reviews I did not expect such a great dining experience. Food wonderful. Fresh, clean and exceptional flavors. The butternut squash soup was super flavorful and the almonds, raisins and heat level were perfection. Followed by the lamb with mole, asparagus with mushrooms superior. Beautiful caramelization on the meat and served at the perfect, to order, temperature. Go, have fun, definitely a great place to dine.
Red O was an "OK" experience. The food was fine but generally needed a little more flavor, which is unusual for upscale Mexican, although the short-rib enchilada was quite good. The other dishes we tried generally did not seem worth the price points they were commanding, although service was quite quick.
I have followed Rick Bayless for years on PBS. I was just curious to see if his food captured the essence of Oaxacan cuisine. Sadly, it did not. The small plates menu was just okay. I ordered goat cheese tamales, duck taquitos and chicken taco with a flight tasting of mezcal. BORING ! The upside was that the happy hour prices were reasonable. having said that, the wait staff was wonderful - it was early and there was NO ONE else outside on the patio - but the crew was friendly enough - especially when I mentioned I had just seen Hamilton. There are better Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles. Skip Red O.
Staff at Red O was very kind and helpful. Ambience of the restaurant was quite pleasant and outdoor seating was comfortable. The food was tasty. I was pleased to receive a follow-up call the next day thanking me for coming in for dinner. Special touches like that make for a place you want to enjoy again.
RED-y for more! I'd heard great things about this place and decided to try on a whim. Ended up going to latter of happy hour and was glad I did. They have a new happy hour menu and the food are prices are superb! The only con is that I was too full to try other items off dinner menu. I will definitely be back!!
This place was a disaster. It is lovely and a few dishes are nice but there was one bar server and one waitress for the entire restaurant at 7:00 on a Tuesday. We had to wait for 10 minutes at the bar when there were just about 15 people before the bar server paid attention to us. Then she got the order wrong. The appetizers came out long before the drinks. When we sat down to dine, two of us had to send orders back because inedibly salty. SO for the amount of money they charge, go someplace else.
Ambiance and service were great. Salsa tastes like from a jar. Carnitas was drowned in a very sweet sauce. Also very fatty. My husbands skirt steak and potatoes were tasty. Was really looking forward to tastes of Mexico-chiles, cilantro, citrus, but felt everything was very one note.
