Red O - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
It was great! Was sat quickly with reservation. The waiter was courteous and attentive. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. My husband and I shared the tablita which was perfect. We were so satisfied with our meal that we didn’t do dessert. It was a great night and we’ll definitely be coming back again. Two thumbs up!
The ambience is casual and the waitress was nice and treated us well but the food was too salty overall. My tortilla soup was so so. My ceviche was salty and not well marinated and my enchilada was plain. The shrimp was ok. The only item that seemed ok was their signature margarita.
Ive been eating at this place for some time now and i wanted to take my boyfriend here because i really enjoy the food and service. I would have gave this place a five star but i was unpleased with the host as we approached him letting him know we had a reservation. He was a older guy that i never seen before and he looks at us and say yes? , like what did we want and i let him know we had a reservation. He was not welcoming at all and seemed like he didn't want to help us. Everytime Ive visited red o the host was always welcoming and very nice and said hello as we walk in, but this guy seemed as if we shouldn't of been there. He took a long time getting our seats when it wasnt even a busy night. It was plenty of tables open. The waiter was very nice and the everyone else except for the host. He should have not been a representation of red o
I typically don’t review but went there for my birthday and had such a good time! The service was excellent and the food was just delicious! Loved it! Thank you for the good food and experience! Thank you Danny for making me and my guess feel welcomed and special!
The service was amazing! Our table was ready as soon as we got there, no wait at all 7:30pm on a Saturday night... most places you have a reservation and you still wait. Everyone was so friendly. This was my first time here... as well as my party, I have always wanted to dine here. Food was so delicious! Great drinks and beautiful atmosphere. They called me the next day to thank me for dining. Top Notch service and fabulous experience all the way around. My new FAV place. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends and family! Thanks for a great night!
If you want to spend an unreasonable amount of money on mediocre Mexican food you can go to Red O, or you can just spend a reasonable amount of money at El Toritos. There was a time Red O was the place to go, no more. Food was uninspired, services was terrible, even the once cool heated floor no longer works. Chips and salsa were good. Ceasar salad was adequate, tamales were bland, ocean trout was a bit overdone on a bed of bland rice with some fajita style veggies tossed on as an afterthought. Tres Leches cake for desert was nicely laid out, not much after that. Skip it.
Not your typical, casual Mexican restaurant, Red O was lovely with a more formal atmosphere, while still being fun and festive. Our waiter, Rob, was friendly and attentive and set a nice tone for our dinner date. The food was excellent. The complimentary chips and salsa were a step above in taste and quality. My husband and I tried different types of margaritas and we both were very happy with our cocktails. I had the best skinny margarita I've ever had. We shared an order of guacamole, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned. We both savored our entrees, especially the enchiladas suizas. Even the background music was enjoyable - fun without being intrusive. Red O was definitely worth driving through traffic for a night out and we will be back.
I was very much looking forward to eating at this restaurant because I admire Rick Bayless but unfortunately I don’t think I’d go back. Although the food was good, it took over an hour for us to receive our dinners and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The restaurant was also very cold and drafty and I had to wear my coat and have a gas heater moved over to the table. It was slo a little odd that in a Mexican restaurant they were playing 80’s music.
Red O remains as great as it was when it opened. The staff is attentive (refills magically appeared without needing to flag someone down) and the food is great. The menu changes from time to time so there is always something new to try. There is something on the menu for everyone - their seafood is top notch, they have mexican classics, a number of salads, many different steak cuts, and a whole lot of other choices. Would definitely recommend!
I hadn't been to Red O in awhile and I think the food was better than ever. A few years ago, they'd laugh at you when you asked for an advance reservation - actually happened a couple of times - now, they call to thank you for dining. That was a nice touch but even that paled next to the food which I found amazing. Rediscover this place.
