Red marlin will jump into your life if you give it a chance. The food via Mark the chef is excellent and he is happy to accommodate your every need to fulfill and fill you properly.
The rest of the crew (except Shane)are the the best in the business and they treat you like family, which when you become a regular you will be.
It is just a great getaway with mellow music and amazing views wiling their half round seating areas with floor to 12 foot ceiling windows over looking all the action of the marinas and the main entrance channel to mission bay keeps you occupied. Friendly, and fantastically fine food forum is the The Red Marlin summed up.
We had dinner there on November 4th. The food was ok, the waiter tried to argue with us when we ordered things cooked the way WE liked them. My husband got the yellowtail and it was undercooked and very fishy. He did not eat it. My steak was too rare and I asked for medium well but the waiter said that it would not be good. My daughter got the shrimp and it was good. Salads were great. Overall, we were disappointed in the service and the waiter arguing with us about how we wanted our food cooked. We live nearby and go there a lot and it is usually very good.
First of all the restaurant is design poorly with the patio tables sitting in the back facing the hotel rather than looking out at the ocean. The octopus was in edible the brussels sprouts were quite good the chowder was good but so incredibly happy with cream that it made us nearly ill. It's overpriced so I would not recommend it
Were in San Diego for business, and my wife's birthday happened to occur during the trip. A friend recommended this place. Was a bit concerned that often times a restaurant on the premises of a hotel or resort is not as good as a stand-alone. Need not have worried. Had a tremendous meal, and the service was attentive and friendly. Awesome meal and experience.
Dont miss the opportunity to be spoiled by the exqusite staff here. There are a few that stand out of course, find their section or request them, they are the best i have ever had and i am 60 years old. Frank is very friendly intelligent and informative. He wil spend some time with you for casual talk, and is very congenial. A great comfort to have someone with this type of attitude in this industry this day in age. Raul is the same, really gracious helpful and friendly. Charlie is a good man, willing to help with anything you may need. Ali is a bus boy that is incredible, he hustles better than any other bus boy i have seen, and he is willing to help and comunicate with a very respectful attitude to the fullest extent You can imagine. Mark is an amazing chef who will cater to your every need. They will most definetely make you happy. Of course there always seems to be one that is not sso helpful or friendly, try to avoid Shawn at all costs. Otherwise the combined atmosphere of great hospitality, excellent view of boats transitting the channel and harbor right in front of you through panoramic angled 8 foot high windows, boats and harbor on one side, channel and boats and sunset on the other, and a great outdoor dining area with fire pits, make this a real gem. Dont miss out on the 2 1/2" scallops flown daily from the east coast, and the chowder that rates as good or better than most. Enjoy San Diego's finest overall dining! Take care...
We ate at the Red Marlin two consecutive nights for dinner. The first night we had cioppino that was tasteless and watery. The second night we had yellowtail that was over cooked and dried out and clam chowder that was too spicy.
We come here every year at the same time for our annual convention and this is the first year that we were very disappointed with the quality of the food!
VERY limited menu completely different from online menu including prices which were much higher at restaurant and open table said 1st reservation was 7:30, but obviously anytime bc no one was in restaurant , the potential is there with location and ambience but they've missed their mark with menu and pricing
Just weird. The whole thing was weird. Kids buffet was decent value but the food was over cooked and limited selection. The adult food was ok but extremely overpriced. The waiter was nice but robot-like in his work. There were few other diners in this massive space (even though the hotel was packed) and the restaurant experience was just odd and lacking in any atmosphere.
Raul and Ali both served up a great meal as usual from Mark. Mark the chef is second to none as well as Raul and Ali. Very couteous, consciencous , and concerned about all they do. The view is excellent, with the fishing boats going by, and the sunset view over the water.
We stayed at the Hyattand wanted an easy dinner after a beach day. We read the reviews and did not have high expectations but the food we ordered was delicious. Both my husband and I ordered the clam chowder and a salad. The So-Cal Caesar was delicious. My husband ordered a different one and enjoyed his. The kids buffet offered a good selection for our kids and the pricing was fair (pay your age). We enjoyed watching th boats on the marina and saw a bit of the sunset before the clouds rolled in.
Had an awesome time sitting out on the patio and enjoying live acoustic music performed by a lovely young lady. The wait staff and management were both attentive and hospitable! I enjoyed the surf and turf as my entree (pricy, but well worth it!) and lump blue crab cakes! (Amazing). If you happen to be in the Mission Bay Area, do yourself a favor and stop by and treat yourself (and your friends/family) to a tasteful and aesthetically pleasing meal! Will definitely be back!
Service was ok. Over priced food. Food over cooked and disappointing for dinner. Breakfast buffet was decent but still very overpriced. Unisex restrooms only. Female in restrooms with 5 males. Made to feel very uncomfortable.
Fabulous. From Rahma's warm welcome, to Frank + Brian + the crew making us feel as though we were old friends, to The Chef for designing a unique veg-head option and a scallop dish that made the carnivore say 'omg these are perfect' too many times to count, all from ocean-view tables. Oh! And check out their own house wine! Delish :)
