The filet was perfect but the deep fried potato thing that was served with it was inedible and paired poorly with such a nice cut of meat. We enjoyed a terrific mixed green salad as well as the warm, locally baked bread. The seared Corvina very tasty but the pea risotto side was a little bitter. Outstanding service and a lovely setting. We especially appreciated how quiet it was even as the room filled up. It was a perfect romantic setting for a post Valentines Day dinner.
Thank you
Good value and service. Steak was pretty good as well.
The staff and food quality made our experience at this restaurant. They truly went out of their way to ensure dietary compliance for my wife (vegan and gluten free). I cannot say enough about this place and we will absolutely return. I highly recommend it!
We booked the Red Marlin, because it is very close to our boat, and it served swordfish, which is one of my husband's favorites. I ordered a chicken pasta. The food was excellent from the starters to the dessert. Frank was our server, and he was extremely nice and helpful with menu options. This restaurant overlooks Mission Bay and has a beautiful view of the sunset and marinas. The service and food we got was excellent, and the price is extremely reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Attached to Hyatt Mission Bay resort so you are part of a captive audience if you don’t feel like leaving the premises to eat. Very few other options around.
Bartender, hostess and waiters were all excellent.
We had a wonderful dinner and lunch at Red Marlin when staying at the Hyatt. Our server, Frank, was so knowledgeable about each entree, and the kitchen was very accommodating to meet our gluten free and nut allergy needs. Frank was very attentive and helpful in our wine selections, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Red Marlin.
The restaurants' servers clearly had never served a fixed price menu with wine pairings. Two pairings showed up well after the food was served and the server did not describe the reason for the paring or the wine.
The staff was great accomodating my husband’s dietary restrictions.
Food was good And service was very professional. Wasn’t able to sit on the patio which was a bummer as it looked very inviting (weather issues). My complaint would be that the summer menu is apparently still on display on their website showing different promotions then they currently offer in the winter months. Our mimosas and bloody Mary’s were very acidic and weak and since they were not bottomless as advertised it kinda was a disappointment.
Would return on a sunny day to try again on the patio and with the summer menu.
The service and food were excellent! Highly recommend the mussels!!!
Food was disappointing. Wedge salad very good but crab mango tower was poor. Scallops were average.
Great food our waitress was wonderful. She helped us with food recommendations and glad we asked.
Great ambiance the view is spectacular - the stuffed mushrooms and tomato bruschetta is my fav starter
Loved the patio and the views. The food was delicious!
The service was excellent, so was the food, and it was fun to celebrate my birthday there! The only disappointment was the sunset, which was out of everyone's control. :)
Beautiful setting on Mission Bay. The service was great. The food was just OK. I had the halibut and did not enjoy it. The other people I was with enjoyed their food more than I did. One thing about the restaurant that I did not like was the restroom. It is an all gender restroom. Men and women enter the same door, enter a stall that has a door that is open at the top and bottom, and use the same sinks to wash their hands. This arrangement is just creepy.
Great food with locally sourced food. The staff was also very friendly.
Delicious California cuisine restaurant tucked away behind the Hyatt Mission Bay. Great service, delicious dinner and the Ambiance is romantic, with a view the bay and Yachts. The Red Marlin restaurant is a secret San Diego restaurant Jewel.
Even though they were short handed...we never knew!
Very sexy date place with my husband for my birthday.
The waitstaff was very accommodating and polite. The food was very creative and delicious!
We wanted to love it because the spot and the views are awesome but the food was just eh, it was overpriced and our server wasn't great. She acted like we were putting her out. The guys helping were awesome though. There are lots of restaurants with a view here in SD so I won't be back.
While staying at the Hyatt last week, we dined at the Red Marlin 5 times. (3 dinners and 2 breakfasts).
Each experience was fine. Next time we are in Mission Bay we will definitely dine here again.
We particularly enjoyed not having to drive to a local restaurant for dinner.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary hoping for a quiet romantic setting. However, the bright spotlights over our indoor booth was a bit much so we opted to sit outside. Unfortunately, we were sitting near a 6 top of loud obnoxious business people clearly enjoying too much wine. Shortly after they left a family of 8 sat down, and the kids began to complain right away. In addition, our server filled my wife's wine glass with red wine, but spilled a bit which resulted in red wine dripping on to her white pants when she took her first sip. We notified the waiter, but he appeared unapologetic. On a good note, they did comp us a desert for our anniversary, which was the best part of the meal. Overall, this is a neat location with great views of the marina, but wouldn't choose it for a quiet romantic occasion.
Clam chowder was very good. My glass of wine came with a dozen or so fruit flies. Never had that happen. It put a damper on the whole experience. Food was not very exceptional. Plenty of other restaurants in the area for your money.
We were staying at the Hyatt Regency and celebrating our wedding anniversary with our children. Service was impeccable. Our server Tracie was super friendly, knowledgeable and had such a great personality. Our kids enjoyed the open buffet specifically for kids. Our meal was delicious and service was fantastic. Thanks for a great night!
My friend and I stayed at the Hyatt for a weekend staycation with her daughter. We didn't want to leave the property and I made a reservation for the restaurant. The view of the harbor is great, we sat outside to enjoy the live musician. The musician was great too! Not too loud so you can't have conversations. Restaurant was empty. The food was okay, some dishes were better than other. My girlfriend had the salmon and I had the blackened chicken linguine both were tasty. The cheese plate was AMAZING!!! We ordered a side of shrimp for my friend's daughter that was off menu and that wasn't too great but it as very nice of the staff to make it for us. And they do a kids buffet. That was a huge plus because it was ready to go and kids could eat right away so adults could enjoy conversation and not worry about starving children. Our server was what made the night. They knew we were celebrating my girlfriend's promotion and her about to move out of state for her job. They came over and made mention of that and comp'd our appetizer. Super classy and top notch service.
Staying at the Hyatt next door. Celebrating our anniversary- they made us feel so special. Great waiter, very knowledgeable.
We were celebrating a Birthday and an Anniversary. The service was excellent and the food was AMAZING!!!
My wife and I had dinner two times. Thought the second time will be better. We both had fish & chips first night which were very oily and bad flavor. Second night sword fish and octapus salad which were very salty. I requested a replacement which was Ok but the veggies were still salty.
This place was such a find! We came down for our anniversary with our kids. Different kind of trip. This place was awesome. It was right on the water and the kids ate for free. They had a kids buffet that was great, the service was amazing. We would definitely go back.
The service was great ( Charlie) but the quality of food was poor and quite lacking along with a very limited selection. The restaurant and hotel are very dated! It could be a great location because of the view. The Hyatt needs to a complete overhaul to this location! All Restaurants, guest rooms, lobby, hallways!
My family was staying at the Bahia resort just on the other side of the bridge. It was short notice on a Friday holiday weekend but we were able to make a reservation, walk over the bay bridge and dine 30 minutes earlier than our 6:30pm reservation. We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed the well prepared however small proportioned meal. The kids were offered a buffet which made them happy. It was a great overall experience.
Staff is very nice. Food...only ok.
The cheese platter is delicious
The French fries that came with the So Cal Chicken Cesar wrap were so delicious. The wrap wasn’t bad either.
Frank is always awesome. The best waiter i have ever had anywhere, no doubt in my mind. Mark made some excellent chowder, and gave me some custom made condiments, he is awesome as always. They all treat you like a king here.
Conference week
We were staying @ the Hyatt & ate dinner at Red Marlin. The food was very good, service friendly and fast, and atmosphere comfortable. It is not inexpensive to dine there, but not overpriced either. Above average food, service & atmosphere for an average price. I’m glad we ate there and would return.
My new husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Red Marlin! The staff knew that we were married earlier that day and went out of their way to make our experience unforgettable! We had a portion of the restaurant set aside specially for us. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing.
