Red Marlin - Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Ratings and Reviews
The Red Marlin is one of our favorite brunch spots in San Diego. The outdoor patio seating is nice when weather permits. Lovely views all around, airy, open floor plan inside. Service has always been great, and brunch menu has a nice variety of options. SoCal eggs Benedict is delicious! Great coffee, too! We always return to Red Marlin.
I booked Red Marlin for our anniversary dinner, and it was well worth it. Because I said that it was for our anniversary, the dessert menu and drink list both wished us "Happy Anniversary" at the top, as well as the staff wishing us the same. The food was very tasty, with a great presentation. They stayed right on top of keeping my water glass full, which is one of my particular points. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I'm sure that during day light, the view of the marina is spectacular, but it was dark during this visit. I would recommend the Red Marlin to others.
It was Ok experience. I was disappointed because last night was New Year Eve, and the restaurant did not decorated even though they did offer pre-fix menu because New Year Eve. The waiter told me that the restaurant closed at 10 so I have to drink my champagne in my room. I found it is strange that the restaurant did not make an exception for one night.
We came to San Diego for the holidays and knew that it would be difficult to find an open restaurant on Christmas Day so we were glad to find this restaurant close to where we were staying. The menu looked great but they didn't have it that day. Instead they had a buffet and the food looked and tasted liked it had been sitting for a while. The buffet was not advertised online. It was super expensive and not great. The servers were very nice, though.
The food was excellent! I had the seafood campanele at the suggestion of our server and it was fantastic. My husband enjoyed the ny strip steak with a side of Brussel sprouts prepared perfectly. There was a little delay in getting our gift card credited but the manager came over and apologized directly. Great customer service!
Love this place... Good food/great menu...great service... Good views of the bay and great drinks. You can't go wrong. We always go here when at the hotel, but my daughter lives in San Diego and she knows of locals that go there for after work drinks. It's a good stopping place and they all have the Hyatt Customer Service!
Excellent Service... One exception... My salad was supposed to come with BACON... I questioned this & the server said.. it did not... BUT offered to bring me some on the side. I checked the menu upon exiting the restaurant &&&& the salad WAS SUPPOSED TO COME WITH BACON....
thus... I was a little disappointed :-(
Lovely outdoor and indoor dining on the marina. We haved stayed at the Hyatt many times over the years and really enjoy the breakfast, brunch and lunch. Service has always been excellent. Always willing to make substitutions or slight chances to the menu, like sautéed spinach in place of breakfast potatoes. Caters not to just hotel guests, but those moored at the marina and others coming for a day at the beach.
Unfortunately due to a large convention in another part of the Hotel, we were the only ones having dinner in the dining room. The food was not up to my expectations having dined there before. Service was very good, but our 3 dinners were not what we were expecting.
Service and food was mediocre at best and way too overpriced for what you receive. While this is a "resort" and dining options in close proximity are limited, I expect to pay more but these prices were a bit on the high side in my opinion. Customer service was lacking and the waiter that served was not overly friendly or accommodating.
One of my guests suggested that we have dinner here. I cautioned him that although the food is excellent on my last 3 or 4 visits the service is very bad.
Sure enough--we were seated and then totally ignored for over 15 minutes. The bus girl went by and we thought was our waiter so we gave her a drink order which then took forever to show. The hostess went by and we grabbed her and complained about no service...she kind of grunted. Finally a server showed up.
We gave him our wine order and told him once we finish our cocktails we would like our appetizer AND wine served. Appetizer showed...we finished it and still no wine nor waiter in site. Finally waved him down and said the wine we ordered was out of stock so I ordered another which still didn't come due to a phantom power failure and he had to wait for a management person who was tied up with the power failure to get our wine.
When bill came he of course charged us for the wine we ordered which was more expensive than one we got....then taking forever playing at the computer he said that he was having trouble correcting so finally did something right and didn't charge us for the wine.
I DONT BLAME THE WAITER AS EVERY WAITER THAT I EXPERIENCED THERE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS GAVE ME POOR SERVICE ANS WAS JUST AS POORLY TRAINED AND MANAGED. FIRE THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE SERVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS HOTEL DESPITE THE HOTEL STAFF WHO ONCE HAD TERRIBLE ATTITUDES BUT MUCH IMPROVED ON THIS VISIT.
Anya the reservation person deserves lots of praise as she did great helping us get the room we wanted. Joseph in Club Room is also a SUPERSTAR
We were surprised to find this wonderful restaurant at the far end of an area of Mission Bay--not that accessible but once you arrive, it's great. Lots of boats and scenic views. The cuisine is delicious although they are a little heavy on the spiciness. Even the clam chowder has jalapeno peppers--I'd suggest they offer a version with and without jalapenos! We had a great waiter, and celebrated a friend's birthday in style. Highly recommended.
To be honest, I haven't been here since the renovation and was sad to see the "classy" atmosphere I remembered was gone. I felt I had arrived at a cafeteria, was very disappointed for our Easter Celebration Brunch. I wouldn't go back, as it just did not feel special. Felt noisy and crowded, the service was slow. Food was expensive for a cafeteria atmosphere!
