Thank you for great food and fantastic service; we shall be back!
Beautiful restaurant loved the layout and lighting.
The best. That's why we keep going back and introducing new people. Out of town friends want to go back when in town. Well worth a trip from the East Bank.
The service was not very good. Our waitress was very slow. It took us an hour to get our food and the whole meal took over two hours. She messed up our soda orders and took a very long time to get refills and our bill.
Great food, great service, and nice atmosphere. A very good value.
Absolutely loved the food! The staff was great and the band friendly. We came in from out of town and will definitely be back next time we're in the New Orleans
Let me start by saying I love this restaurant. I have had many good experiences at Red Maple, but they dropped the ball on Valentine's weekend. I made a reservation for Saturday the 13th at pm. We arrived on time and were seated right away. The restaurant was busier than it usually is, but this is no excuse for poor service. The waiter kept apologizing (complaining) that his other table was very needy and I tried to give the guy a break as I am a very low maintenance customer. However I felt as if we were being ignored in favor of the "needy" table. The waiter passed us several times to take care of the other table while we waited patiently for his return. When he did come to us, it was brief and if we didn't speak quickly he was gone before we could blink. We ordered wine and appetizers that came out almost immediately. Our entrees also came fairly quickly. I ordered an 8 oz fillet cooked medium with a side of green beans as I always do. The steak came out a little over cooked and I was ok with that but THEY PUT STEAK SAUCE ON TOP OF MY STEAK WHICH I DID NOT ASK FOR AND RUINED IT. But I scraped it off and ate it as it is wasteful to send food back. My green beans came out as snow peas. Again the waiter was gone in a flash. When I inquired the waiter informed me they were out of green beans and the kitchen "took it upon themselves to sub." I was not informed prior or offered another side. My girlfriend ordered a second glass of wine which never came. We were promptly presented with the bill with no question as to how our meal was or if we would like coffee or desert as per usual restaurant protocol? I had to have him remove the second glass of wine from the bill, and also add a bread pudding which we took to go. The food itself is great but my order was wrong and the service was very poor. Not the experience I am used to paying for here. I work very hard and when I want to spend my money at a nice place like this I expect top notch service and quality.
Bartenders were rude both downstairs and upstairs. They ran out of salmon, baked potatoes and oysters. The Rack of Lamb came out cold/warm. Not sure why they take reservations as they were not prepared. Reservation was at 8:30 and we got our food after10:15. Never received our appetizer we ordered but we were billed for. Wouldn't even consider ever going back.
Tried Red Maple based on Open Table reviews alone. Was pleasantly surprised, on New Years Eve, very crowded, but staff was hard-working and very accomidating. Was a little noisy, but on a normal night would imagine it would be quite romantic. Steak and Salmon were very good, wine list is extensive.
6 of us had reservations at 9pm New Year's Eve. Very understaffed I or 2 waiters in our area waiting in 10-12 tables. Food took forever around hour and half To our surprise the food was above average once we finally received it. Turtle soup was great
The food was good, but the prices are compared to Ruth Chris. This is not a Ruth Chris restaurant. I think it was over priced. The waitress was good, but she could needed much help
A lot has changed since I've been. I remembered it being a really nice, cozy place that had wonderful food, especially the steaks.
I'm not sure if they have expanded or when I went I may not have sat in the main dining room. However, I went on a Friday evening at 8 and the main dining room had only 2 other tables taken. It appeared that a party of somewhat was in one of the other rooms.
I ordered the pork chop because it sounded so delicious - Very disappointed, it had a VERY strong liquid smoke taste and was not tasty at all with the exception of the smoke flavor. The mashed potatoes and veggie were good but I ended up leaving 1/2 my chop. I was with a party of 4 and one of the people at my table had the rib-eye, which again was not great it was really thin and a big disappointment. The other 2 people had the shrimp platter in which it looked good and they did not complain however they as well didn't finish and didn't take home the leftovers.
Perhaps if you live on the Westbank it's worth going, being that we were all from the Eastbank it was a big disappointment. Will not be going again.
the food is tasty and looks good and the service is always good and smooth
We had a birthday celebration there with family and overall, the service and food was pretty good. The only problem we had was we ordered an appetizer that we never received, but thankfully, we were not charged for it so we just left it to miscommunication! Overall, we will definitely go back. The bar area is definitely vibrant if your looking for a nice place to have a drink or more with friends.
We found this restaurant on Open Table and we were not disappointed! The service was outstanding, the wine was excellent and yet affordable, the food was excellently prepared. We stayed for a long dinner of three courses! I ordered the filet and it was perfectly prepared. The presentation was lovely. I recommend checking it out.
It's the first time I've been to the Red Maple in years, so it was almost like new. The food was superb (the BBQ shrimp could've had a little more kick though). My steak was perfectly cooked and the strawberry cheesecake is to die for. I could not finish the meal because i was so stuffed. Can't wait to go back again.
We always love this place. Never a disappointment! Thanks so much
I have been to this restaurant many times, but neglected to review it the last time we visited because I had too many things going on. Looking back at my reservations, I felt I owed it to this great place to take the time to go back and say a few words. I had an amazing sausage encrusted salmon and one of the best salads ever. On this particular evening, we were gathered as a group of ladies to casually 'celebrate' an out of town friend's engagement. The service was great as always, and the quality of the food was top notch. I have never been disappointed though. I also want to say that it is a lovely spot for groups, especially the front courtyard and pond. I have many different photos of family and friends gathering there to celebrate birthdays, retirements, and even a baby shower. I highly recommend it!
Always pleasant, waiter Kerry makes it personal. Food is excellent. My wife and I had our first date there and keep returning.
I first visited red maple in August 2014 , it was the best dining experience ever from the service to the food. Recently in January 2015 a friend and I went for lunch the food nor the service was impressive , I revisited in February 2015 this visit was even worst , they ran out of one of the featured dishes, service from my waitress was extremely slow food was not prepared properly
Everything was perfect. Had a great Valentines Day thanks to Red Maple. Great food and atmosphere
My family decided to celebrate Valentine's day together this year. So all 10 of us descended upon Red Maple with children! They didn't bat an eyelash, service was great and as always so was the food. We had an earlier seating, so the ambiance was a little up beat not so quiet and Romantic as it usually is.
Spent valentines there with my husband and my son great place for a date night even great menu for kids
Food was fair but the servers and kitchen seemed overwhelmed with the holiday crowd. The steaks were not hot and they wouldn't even slightly change items from the prefix menu. Usually a very good neighborhood gem.
Our service was HORRIBLE! As soon as we were seated, a server spilled a full glass of water on the back of a lady in our party. They didn't offer her anything other than some rags to dry off with.
At an upscale restaurant, I expect full table settings. After our salad plates were taken, we had to ask for forks to eat our entrees with. We also had to ask for steak knives. Our server was very green. These are things we should not have to ask for.
Our steaks were cooked correctly and the sides were good as well. We really like the barbecue shrimp appetizer. Overall it was nice. When we go back to Nola, I'd like to try it with a real server.
Steak was barely warm, fish was not tasty, crab cake dinner lots of bread
it was our xmas party and the food and service was substandard. food was cold, slow service, out of a lot of things on the menu. a bad dining experience and I won't go back.
My wife and I dine here about 2 times a year. We have had both good and bad experiences. This night was a very pleasant experience. Tara, our waitress was very good. Attentive, but not intrusive. We had the Carb Remick for an appetizer which we enjoyed. I had the breaded veal
which was good and plenty of it. My wife had the filet which she said was seasoned very nicely. Only problem was that she ordered it Medium Well but it was served rare. My wife had the creamed spinach as a side and enjoyed it. I had the baked potato loaded I was nice that there was extra butter left on the table from the rolls which it needed. We both ordered a side house salad which in the future I would only order 1 and share it as it was pretty big for a side house salad.
I made a reservation for my wife's birthday on a Saturday. The reservation was for 5:30pm. At 4:30pm (1 hour before we were scheduled to arrive) I received a call from the restaurant. The person stated that they would be only serving a limited menu, and that they were running some special for $49.95 per person. I immediately cancelled the reservation. We ended up going to Shoney's that evening as I could not get in another restaurant without a substantial wait time. At least their gumbo was good. Hard to rate the restaurant though, we never had the opportunity to show up.
Neither my wife, nor I, we're overly impressed. The waiter, a pleasant young man, came back three times to double check, or actually triple check our orders. My crabmeat au gratin was swimming in cheese sauce. It was tasty, but it drowned in the sauce. My wife enjoyed her asparagus, but her red fish was bland.
The service is overrated, and the food overpriced.
The bright spot.....the noise level ...there was nobody else in the restaurant, save for a gathering in the party room on a Tuesday evening at 6:00PM
I TRULY LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. I WENT FOR THE FIRST TIME AUGUST 2012 AND MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE LOVED ME FOR THE FIRST TIME THERE AND INFORMED ME THAT ONE DAY I WILL HAVE RING ON MY RIGHT HAND. 2YRS LATER IT IS A TRADITION FOR US TO GO BACK AND RENEW OUR FIRST LOVE YOU
Everything about this resturant was great from the ambience to the food. The staff made me and my guest feel like VIP . Red maple I can't wait to return
Having dined here many times in the past, I thought it would be a good choice to bring several friends for their birthday celebrations. NOT! Apparently, the chef has left and the new one leaves much to be desired. Also, while our server was good, he needed help, i.e. bus help, bartender. It took almost ten minutes before we got even water, and, that was after my husband went to the front and asked for it. Drinks took another ten minutes - I think the bartender must have disappeared. The restaurant was almost empty at 8pm in the evening. I now know why. Won't be going there again.
Nothing bad about the place at all, but we made a trip out from New Orleans. Could have done it in New Orleans and saved the cab fare.
Went for Father's Day. We ate an early lunch. Friendly greeting, seated right away. Service was excellent. Appetizers came out right away, and food came shortly thereafter. Everyone's food was delicious and hot (heat). Wine was very good also. Dessert was yummy. Would definitely recommend.
Red Maple Restaurant has not maintained prominence for several decades by disappointing it clientele. The service was timely, informative, fun and energetic. The ambiance is brick and wooden beams and cross-members, with a fireplace in the main dining room.
The steaks are superb. The variety of offerings has been changed to more of steak restaurant, but seafood offerings are sound. We had a memorable meal and great time. The west bank should be proud of the Red Maple.
My wife and I visited this restaurant for our anniversary. The service was great from the time we walked in to the time we departed. Our food was exceptional, it was cooked right and flavored well. Our host was prompt with seating us and our server came over within a minute or so to make sure we were taken care of. Our eggplant and crab-meat appetizer was delicious and was brought out within 10 minutes of ordering. Both entree's were delicious and were brought out timely and hot. I had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back to enjoy the atmosphere and eatery.
My wife and I keep going back since we had our first date there 15 years ago. Enough said.
I first went to The Red Maple as a kid with my parents. I remember it being sensational then, and today is no different. The service is first rate, food second to none, decor is awesome.
Kerry was our waiter and has been each time we dine there. He's been around for almost as long as the restaurant has been open and his service is the best ever!
Turtle Soup was out of this world as always.
Added a little mileage and time to the commute, and well worth the drive. Ambience hits you as you walk over the little bridge across the patio and watch the goldfish flitter. Then a passage through the bar area to the rustic dining room. Rustic meets gourmet in the service and food category, servers and wait staff are there when you want them, and know when to disappear. Food and drink comes out timely, and the presentation and quality is there. A hidden Atlantis 5 minutes across the bridge.
