Red Lantern – Thunder Valley Casino Resort
This was my second time at Red Lantern. The first time, my experience was awesome. This time, the food was delivered lukewarm. It still had great flavor, but I’m not sure why it was delivered lukewarm when there was nobody else in the restaurant. My order was also incorrect. I asked for a plate of mandarin chicken and a plate of chicken chow mein. I received a full dinner of mandarin chicken and sides, but no chow mein. I will try this restaurant one more time. It’s too expensive to have another experience like this again.
My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and it was just horrible! Our reservation was at 7:00pm and we didn’t end up getting helped until 7:50pm. Once we got our food around 8:40 , which is super late, it was so cold and the chow Mein was hard. The chicken was cold and they only gave us around 7 pieces for 17 bucks! We were very unsatisfied so we complained and left to just get a bagel because it was already so late. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone . HORRIBLE SERVICE AND FOOD!!!!
It was our first time there. The food was delicious. Place was great. The only thing was that we didn’t get a water refill. Our water glass was empty for a while before they came and refill our glass. Besides that, I really like the place and would definitely go back again.
Worst restaurant meal of my life, and I’m 64. Seated promptly with our reservation. After that, almost all downhill. Service was between inattentive and non-existent. Ordered their special fixed price Valentine Day menu at $39 per person - appetizer, soup, choice of a main from a list of three and dessert. After about 15 minutes, the soup came first, not as described, substituting tofu for the promised scallop as well as style (a very thin egg drop soup). The appetizer was very good, prawns with walnuts and a tasty sauce, well presented. And then we waited, and waited, and waited, watching food delivered to other tables all around us. Once our server came by to say the kitchen was very busy. It was probably a 40 minute wait. As we were about to leave, the main course arrived. It was presented well, had my steak been cooked. Remember, this is a fixed menu - main options were prawns, a half lobster tail or steak. We’ve just had prawns, so my wife had chosen lobster and I chose steak. Her food was fine. My rice was good, but the steak was blue. As in not cooked. As in inedible. No one checked on us for the next 20 minutes. We were seated in a back hallway where staff walked by, but not our server and no one else even looked at us. I mistakenly assumed someone would come by. I should have walked to the kitchen. Our server returned after my wife finished her dinner. I showed the server my uncooked meal, and asked for the check for my wife’s meal. The server again said the kitchen was “crazy” and said she’d tell her manager. Perhaps she did, but that didn’t matter enough for anyone to come see us. Instead of the check, the server brought a dessert - but not the described dessert. Instead it was a concoction still frozen inside. We paid and left. It’s hard to conceive how this meal could have been more poorly executed. We were looking forward to a nice meal. This was an epic failure.
I was concerned that the Red Lantern would smell like smoke because it is located in Thunder Valley Casino...it did not. The food overall was very good and the only draw back was the appetizer calamari was not.
This was the Valentine dinner special. The waitress could not get my simple Martini drink order correct. She had to come back 3 times to ask me again how I wanted my martini. Then the second course was delivered before the first course. My wife's dinner arrived more than 10+ minutes before my main course. I order the steak that was suppose to be cooked medium. It arrived raw!!!!! and cold. I was going to send it back but my wife was almost done with her dinner. If she wasn't enjoying her dinner I would have just got up and left. When the desert arrived it was so frozen you could not eat it. I was very disappointed as I have eaten there before and it use to be a good space to eat.
We enjoy coming to Red Lantern. The food is good and convenient to where we live.
This is our favorite Chinese food restaurant and our go to location when we’re at Thunder Valley. We have dined here several times and have never been disappointed. We highly recommend the Red Lantern.
Excellent service and the food is amazing. Amy i believe is our waitress she was awesome. We clebrated our friends bday and the food was amazing .
When this place is 'on' it has delicious Chinese food. However, this was not the case. The food was cold, service poor, and wrong items were given. It will be along time until we eat here again.
Our waitress tired, but she had no help. The place was very busy, so service and food was not up to par. Shame on the management!
Fun place to eat. Food was delicious and service was great.
Excellent orange chicken! Bbq pork slices were served cold...
everything was delicious..and our server was really sweet and attentive but the restaurant is in he casino so you are bound to smell the cigarette smoke..
i also felt it was pricey for each dish...about $17 for chicken chow mein...would go back but maybe not order so much..
Great time. Food was excellent
We were so disappointed by our visit here on New Year's eve. The service was really poor which was especially troublesome given the expensive New Year's prices and fixed menu. The fixed menu should have ensured that the restaurant was able to offer excellent service at volume. Instead half of our meals were brought out 15 minutes after the other half. We essentially ate in shifts so the first meals didn't get cold. This is not what we expect from an elegant sit down restaurant experience. Every time we asked a question of waitstaff, they had to go back to the kitchen - which made the ordering experience very drawn out. Also, we had one diner with us who didn't eat fish, so we asked if they could bring plain white rice to substitute for the fried rice with scallops. They said they could not. I will not be back.
Ordered medium rare....got well done. Lobster was tiny and tough. Appetizers taste like they were made the day before. Good wine selection but awful food.
We had NYE dinner. They had 3 set menus. Pre-fix 4 courses. They brought everything out at once all 4 courses. The food was odd, cold...waitstaff very friendly. It seemed they were in a hurry to get us in and out.
Incredibly overpriced for terrible food! Best part of the Prime Rib and Lobster meal was the white rice. Would avoid this restaurant if it were the last one on earth. Service was acceptable.
Good food and service. We will return here. Waitress was super
not a dinner i would want to repeat. High Steak or the cafe are much better food & service.
We have been to several restaurants at Thunder Valley and this is by far the BEST. Service was great and the food was excellent. It was a little pricey (comparable to other high end Asian restaurants) but well worth it. Definitely will be going back.
As always great food more costly than most Asian restaurants but worth it
The food & Service was outstanding!
I was dissapointed with the wine list. I requested wine from advertised listing. After one quarter hour, I was told by our waiter that the bartender could not find the advertlsed wine. I was offered a cheaper wine.
This is our Christmas Eve tradition, and it never disappoints. On top of that, the service was phenomenal and just created an even better environment!
Great service and good food. This is the second year we chose Red Lantern for Christmas Eve
Great service. But the food is expensive and very small serving. Not worth the money.
Bad service from waitress and fry rice low quality.
Great food and outstanding service.
Shanghai Soup Dumplings are great here. We also had shrimp balls, green beans, and pad thai. Plus a celebratory martini. Everything was very good, and the service was also very good.
Red Lantern used to be open for lunch on weekdays, but a couple of years ago started only being open for lunch on weekends, so we came on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday. Turns out to have been a great decision.
We wish they had some tea option other than Jasmine (too perfumed for us) and Lipton. This trip we were lucky and were able to use some tea from one of the birthday presents to brew a better alternative - the waiter helpfully brought us a teapot full of very hot water.
I think that eating out us all about the food and the quality of the service. Red Lantern has reliably provided us with a great in good selection but also great personalities in the service department. We appreciate the kind of personal service that our kind server afforded us in this last dinner experience...if I could request the personable service that Cui_Feng gave us with the humor and kindness combined with the businesslike efficiency of a 12 Star Restaurant, we would be asking for her every time. It was indeed a pleasure to dine there again...
Food was delicious & great service.
Love a family style meal and the servers were exceptional.
Another great dining evening at Red Lantern...Our waiter(Dih Ho) or Mack, took very good care of us as we ordered 25 dishes and a ton of drinks to accommodate 11 hungry golfers as we celebrated a “get out of the house and use eating utensils once-in-a-while” day for one of our own...we ate it all!! We enjoyed s good time with great the ambiance created by our waiter and all of the servers as they tended to all of our needs. We need to do this again!!
We’ve gone here twice to celebrate Birthdays! Excellent for large groups.
Although the food was tasty and everyone was very friendly, everyone’s food came out so staggered that we ended up not even eating my husband’s choice because it came out so late.
The food was good, but the service wasn’t that great. The waitress’ took a long time to take our order, kept the change from our tab after paid. We had to look for the waitress to get our change.
Delicious food, good service, will definitely return! Thanks!
