Red Lantern – Thunder Valley Casino Resort
everything was delicious..and our server was really sweet and attentive but the restaurant is in he casino so you are bound to smell the cigarette smoke..
i also felt it was pricey for each dish...about $17 for chicken chow mein...would go back but maybe not order so much..
Great time. Food was excellent
We were so disappointed by our visit here on New Year's eve. The service was really poor which was especially troublesome given the expensive New Year's prices and fixed menu. The fixed menu should have ensured that the restaurant was able to offer excellent service at volume. Instead half of our meals were brought out 15 minutes after the other half. We essentially ate in shifts so the first meals didn't get cold. This is not what we expect from an elegant sit down restaurant experience. Every time we asked a question of waitstaff, they had to go back to the kitchen - which made the ordering experience very drawn out. Also, we had one diner with us who didn't eat fish, so we asked if they could bring plain white rice to substitute for the fried rice with scallops. They said they could not. I will not be back.
Ordered medium rare....got well done. Lobster was tiny and tough. Appetizers taste like they were made the day before. Good wine selection but awful food.
We had NYE dinner. They had 3 set menus. Pre-fix 4 courses. They brought everything out at once all 4 courses. The food was odd, cold...waitstaff very friendly. It seemed they were in a hurry to get us in and out.
Incredibly overpriced for terrible food! Best part of the Prime Rib and Lobster meal was the white rice. Would avoid this restaurant if it were the last one on earth. Service was acceptable.
Good food and service. We will return here. Waitress was super
not a dinner i would want to repeat. High Steak or the cafe are much better food & service.
We have been to several restaurants at Thunder Valley and this is by far the BEST. Service was great and the food was excellent. It was a little pricey (comparable to other high end Asian restaurants) but well worth it. Definitely will be going back.
As always great food more costly than most Asian restaurants but worth it
The food & Service was outstanding!
I was dissapointed with the wine list. I requested wine from advertised listing. After one quarter hour, I was told by our waiter that the bartender could not find the advertlsed wine. I was offered a cheaper wine.
This is our Christmas Eve tradition, and it never disappoints. On top of that, the service was phenomenal and just created an even better environment!
Great service and good food. This is the second year we chose Red Lantern for Christmas Eve
Great service. But the food is expensive and very small serving. Not worth the money.
Bad service from waitress and fry rice low quality.
Great food and outstanding service.
Shanghai Soup Dumplings are great here. We also had shrimp balls, green beans, and pad thai. Plus a celebratory martini. Everything was very good, and the service was also very good.
Red Lantern used to be open for lunch on weekdays, but a couple of years ago started only being open for lunch on weekends, so we came on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday. Turns out to have been a great decision.
We wish they had some tea option other than Jasmine (too perfumed for us) and Lipton. This trip we were lucky and were able to use some tea from one of the birthday presents to brew a better alternative - the waiter helpfully brought us a teapot full of very hot water.
I think that eating out us all about the food and the quality of the service. Red Lantern has reliably provided us with a great in good selection but also great personalities in the service department. We appreciate the kind of personal service that our kind server afforded us in this last dinner experience...if I could request the personable service that Cui_Feng gave us with the humor and kindness combined with the businesslike efficiency of a 12 Star Restaurant, we would be asking for her every time. It was indeed a pleasure to dine there again...
Food was delicious & great service.
Love a family style meal and the servers were exceptional.
Another great dining evening at Red Lantern...Our waiter(Dih Ho) or Mack, took very good care of us as we ordered 25 dishes and a ton of drinks to accommodate 11 hungry golfers as we celebrated a “get out of the house and use eating utensils once-in-a-while” day for one of our own...we ate it all!! We enjoyed s good time with great the ambiance created by our waiter and all of the servers as they tended to all of our needs. We need to do this again!!
We’ve gone here twice to celebrate Birthdays! Excellent for large groups.
Although the food was tasty and everyone was very friendly, everyone’s food came out so staggered that we ended up not even eating my husband’s choice because it came out so late.
The food was good, but the service wasn’t that great. The waitress’ took a long time to take our order, kept the change from our tab after paid. We had to look for the waitress to get our change.
Delicious food, good service, will definitely return! Thanks!
Although the food is over-priced for basic Chinese food, it was tasty, but the portions are small compared to our favorite in town Chinese restaurant with same dishes at half the price. However, the service at Red Lantern was very poor. We had to ask several times to have our plates removed before our desert came out, they never checked on us (I had to flag them down every time), never refilled our water, and brought our two main dishes out at separate times with about 10 minutes in between.
The food was so fresh. Definitely will be back. Love the hot and sour soup and the Mongolian Beef
lovely ambience to go with good service and exceptional cuisine - about the only downsides here are 1) that it resides within a casino and 2) even though the circ system is decent, there is still a lingering bit of cigarette smell, so those sensitive to those things (like me) will have allergy issues to contend with.
Further - their BBQ trio (queen's chicken, roasted duck and smoked pork) while all being perfectly prepared and oh so yummy, all have 5 spice somewhere in their cooking (note to self - ask beforehand as there are those out there (my date) who cannot eat 5 spice).
Highly recommend their dumplings (shu mai) steamed and light as a feather!
One other thing - the seating is a bit close together, so hope that your fellow diners are not overly rambunctious (thankfully the couple next to us was not, though we still heard more of their conversation that we wanted to).
But those are small nits to pick - the service was first rate and the food... oh so good.
Good dinner before a concert. It was a very busy night but we were seating fairly quickly despite having made reservations. We had to wait about 5 minutes, but we ordered a drink from the bar first. Good food! A little pricey, but it was good food!
I was torn between this restaurant and the steak restaurant, which is phenomenal. The other people in my party chose the Red Lantern. The food was awful!! I am not sure how you can ruin fried rice, but it had an awful flavor. There was virtually no difference between the General Chicken that I ordered and the sweet and sour chicken someone else ordered. Service was very slow and we almost felt like we were being ignored. I wont go back.
Everything was very pleasant. Food was good, service was amazing.
Excellent food, superior service. The prices are high, considering that most of the dishes are standard items that would probably run at least $5.00 less at a non-casino restaurant. The cocktails (we had Mai-Tais) are excellent and very reasonably priced.
Red Lantern always had great food. Service is impeccable. Reservations are needed many of the times we have come to eat dinner or have Happy Hour. Bar service is also awesome. Soups are incredible.
Our favorite Asian restaurant. We dine at least once a month and are never disappointed
Underwhelming considering it is one of Thunder Valley's signature restaurants.
We have never been disappointed, whether we are dining alone or with friends. Have recommended Red Lantern many times for people looking for Good Asian food.
Hopefully service will improve. Twice now we wait, get seated and wait with no acknowledgement. But, everything else is very pleasant and enjoyable.
Even though it was a busy night, the service and food were excellent!
