The food was amazing but the service was awful. I think the nicest person they had working was a female manager who came to my table to apologize for the fact I waited 20 minute for my drink to only get the wrong one.
The dining experience and service from the waiter was perfectly normal.
Don’t make reservations online because they don’t honor them.
Food was incredible! You get great portions for the prices. Our server forgot about us for a little while and we had to flag down another waitress to ask for drinks, which then took 20 minutes to get to us but he was otherwise very friendly and personable. Ambiance was great with nice lighting and a low key DJ setup off to the side of the dining room. There’s a small bar by the entrance which would be a good waiting area but we didn’t try it. Overall really great! Recommended to friends :)
This was my second visit to Red Lantern. Like the first time round, on arrival my party and I were asked to wait by the Bar. There was a bunch of tables open from what I could see walking in. Typically this doesn’t bother me but having to ‘wait’ by the Bar for 20 minutes to then be brought to a table that was already vacant since we got there is just a ploy. I will give credit that the drinks here are very good.
On arrival to our table I noticed it was quite wonky. We were promptly moved on request to another area. Where we got reseated was the noisiest dining room area I have ever experienced. It was so noisy I could barely hear what anyone next to me was saying - this was jointly felt by all of my party. Our Waiter also had a hard time being able to hear in this location which was apparent in the looks he would give. Furthermore, he seemed like he didn’t like his job - definitely not a people person type of guy. I recall asking him for a glass of Malbec, I honestly don’t think he knew I was talking about Wine or perhaps he really couldn’t hear me but I had to say it three times.
The Door Hosts and the Bar Staff were very tentative. Apart from the wait and the unusually noisy dining room (I understand it was likely caused by the room being an enclosed Asian designed dining room) everything else was great.
The Pu Pu Platter is delicious.
We had a great time the food was excellent. The waitiress
was fast and very nice and the decoration was unique.
We had an amazing experience, the service was phenomenal as well as the food. The music was not the best, but we had a great time nonetheless.
Went for Dollar Dumpling night and was disappointed to see how small they were. Kitchen ran out of veggie dumplings and dough so we were cut short on the amount we could order. Service was fair.
Came here to celebrate a birthday and had previously made a reservation, we were seated promptly which was a plus. The server was nice at the beginning of the dinner but as the night continued we felt like rushed like he just wanted us to leave already. Not sure if it’s because we didn’t have a huge order of food or desserts. After we told him we weren’t ordering more after a few apps he didn’t really care much about our table which is unfortunate. We ordered island mai tai’s and they were nice looking but it didn’t taste good at all and they weren’t that cold either which was kind of a turn off. Ended up getting better drinks somewhere else. The pupu platter was really good and we did enjoy their spin on the common pupu platter. Also considering we were there celebrating a dinner I expected them to do something special anything even a candle with a basic dessert but there was nothing of that nature. Overall I’d prob try it out again but not in any rush to do so right now.
Fried Calamari was delicious but have had more tender elsewhere. Peking duck was very tasty and moist but not as hot in temperature as I expected. Our table for four was way too small to accommodate all we ordered. The blistered string beans were proportionally smaller than the the dishes but absolutely scrumptious! The veggie fried rice was large and good but would have liked more vegetables. Coctails good but small and expensive. Enjoyed every morsel!
Always a great experience at Red Lantern
The $1 sushi roll was awesome and it came out very fast. The only downfall, there was a lot of people at the bar/lounge area and the bartender was running around swamped. Very attentive just was by herself.
Great food! The drinks were weak but everything else surpassed my expectations.
The sashimi was cut too thick, and our waiter never returned to our table to find out how everything was, nor whether we needed a check. I got the impression they weren’t staffed for the volume of customers - would have preferred to have been told that rather than to have gotten substandard service
We come here often and seemed like food was down tonight
Destination every time we go to Boston! Food is amazing!
it was a nice the food was excellent and portions sizes are a lot,
Food was great and drinks were on point 👌🏼
Huge portions and great use of space.
👌🏻 love it
We had a bottle of wine, a pu pu platter that was fair at best. We also ordered the house rice that came 15 minutes after finishing the pu pu platter. the waiter never checked back. Last time here.
Out of Wine ordered, out of preferred dessert, manager wouldn’t allow payment to be split between 2 cards.
Very tasty food!! Energetic atmosphere and the drinks are amazing
Loved my server and hostess ❤️ will most definitely be returning
We had an awesome time celebrating our anniversary.
Great food, great ambiance. Very attentive staff who after learning our food allergies made certain adjustments in our menus.
My boyfriend and I were very excited to eat here. However we were disappointed almost immediately. We started with 2 miso soups which costed $8 EACH! And they were basically hot water, zero taste and both of us could not finish it. Then we ordered sushi for dinner hoping it would redeem our experience. All three rolls we ordered were drenched in spicy mayo to the point where we could not taste anything else. Not to mention each roll was about $18 for almost no fish and no taste apart from spicy mayo. We couldn't finish those either. Our $18 drinks were okay but I mean come on. We won't be returning.
Normally I'm a pretty easy-going diner. I've come to Red Lantern numerous times and I've brought a lot of people there over the years. I've recommended it to others as well. I came alone yesterday and unfortunately received the poor treatment a lot of women dining alone receive. The place was pretty empty at the time. Along one side of the dining room there are about 8 2-tops somewhat tightly placed together. There was one couple there and the hostess sat me right next to them. I asked if I could sit 1 table over from them to afford them some privacy and not feel cramped. The hostess lied to my face and said both corner areas had groups of 5 coming in. I didn't believe that and sure enough, 10 minutes later she sat a couple in one of the areas that 'had a group of 5' coming in. Normally a manager comes by to see how the diners are doing. No one came by yesterday and there were 2 managers walking the floor. Apart from that, the soup was less than room temperature hot and I had to ask for things more than once. There was also a 15 minute wait for the check. If this is typical for service at RL now I will not be back.
slow service on an empty night. food was not good, one dish inedible. cool atmosphere, and good menu, but execution (in the kitchen and with the wait and bar staff) lacked significantly. Huge disappointment, especially considering the prices.
Food not good...not the same as the other locations
Flank steak very fatty. Overpriced for quality of food
We've been to Red Lantern a several times since we live near Boston. The last couple of visits were not worth the money. The drinks this past time were awful. Tasteless, watered down and overall no effort other that the bartenders worrying about what they look like was put in to them. The first good drink leads to many more but this first bad drink led to a second bad drink so that was a complete waste. The food was okay nothing special. The special meat dish had an odd taste to it. The calamari could have used more taste. The tuna bites are not what I remembered. Perhaps we always had sushi in th past. We won't be going back. Something changed and it's just not worth it.
It was great.
This was my third visit here. We ordered the duck buns, avocado poppers, the rock sushi & the tic toc chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious! Great food, great vibes and our waiter Nathan was very helpful & sweet. Highly recommended!
Red Lantern is a great spot for groups and has a delicious selection of cocktails and plates for sharing
Food and amazing......service leaves a lot to be desired
The avacado maki was Treat, bit the main dish (Orange beef) was Gross. The meat was SPONGEY and fatty. It was awful.
Food and service were very good ( duck buns, pot stickers, pad tai, chicken). Our guests all enjoyed the meal
I was excited to try the red lantern with my husband for date night based on the reviews. However despite the interesting decor and fast, almost rushed service the food was only ok. Wasn’t worth the money or a second visit.
Very expensive for what you get. Kung Pao shrimp were tiny and swimming in an overly peppered sauce. Pad Thai was ok but way overpriced. Our waiter seemed new. Unsure about how to accommodate special diner requirements. Pace of food delivery to table was poor. 2 entrees arrived more than five minutes ahead of the food for the other four diners. Had to ask for serving utensils for the shared dishes. Orange beef was excellent. I had been here before and it was much better 3-4 years ago. I have no real desire to return now, sorry to say.
