Red Ginger of Traverse City Ratings and Reviews
I rated our experience less than outstanding only because we sat in the extended area at the back of the restaurant. It was a bit cold for my wife even with the heaters but the main thing was being away from the ambiance of the main seating area. Otherwise, there was nothing wrong with the overflow area.
Went to Red Ginger during our weekend in TC. They called to confirm my reservation and asked if we were celebrating an occasion. I informed them it was our 25th anniversary weekend. They seated us in the back section - smaller & quieter. Our server greeted us w/ anniversary wishes and there was a signed card from the restaurant at our table. Our server was great and the sushi was excellent. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I had a great dinner out at Red Ginger last Friday evening. The food and service was excellent. Mitch was a great waiter. We were a little late for our reservation, as we had trouble finding parking due to the tree lighting festivities. However, upon placing a call to let them know our situation, the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
We received the table we requested. The appetizers and main course were all excellent. The wine recommendation from the waitress was on point and perfect! Red Ginger is a balanced mix of vibrancy and warm ambiance. The restaurant had a full house that night, yet the staff treated us like we were the only guests. Red Ginger is my favorite place to bring my guests because I am never disappointed. It is very apparent Ernest takes great pride and displays a genuine concern for delivering top notch service and customer care.
Thank you to all your staff for delivering an impressive dining experience

Red Ginger is a must for our family. My daughter was celebrating her birthday and requested to celebrate it at Red Ginger. Service was great and the food is wonderful. We loved everything we ordered. We are from out of town and it is on our list to eat there every time we are in town.
We did like it overall and the food quality was very good, but our food service was too fast and drinks were a bit slow. We ordered the lettuce wraps as an appetizer and they were brought to the table immediately, which was fine as we were hungry and our drinks had just arrived. But the entrees came shortly after, which we were not ready for. I'd suggest they slow down a bit and not try to turn tables so quickly!
We made a reservation for our anniversary. The day of they called to confirm and asked if it was a special occasion. They documented what the occasion was for us so when we arrived the hostess greeted us with "happy anniversary". They took us to our table which had our last name artfully hand written on a card reserving the table which was right along the river. The card was signed by the staff and said "happy anniversay" and our waitress greeted us with "Happy anniversary". At the end of our meal, which was delicious (the dragon roll is amazing) we were treated to dessert on the house. We felt special and very taken care of. Thanks for a great evening Red Ginger!
Had a perfect dining experience celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary with my wife. Our food was prepared perfectly, all five courses. Try the Sea Bass! Our service was top notch. Mitch and the rest of the staff were amazing. Drinks were delicious, and my wife and I both enjoyed the “Snow Blossom”.
Unbeknownst to me, the staff surprised us with a congratulatory note and a complimentary desert for chooosing Red Ginger for our anniversary celebration. I also believe they seated us in a quieter, more romantic area, overlooking the Grand Traverse Bay because they knew we were celebrating a special occasion.
Overall, we loved celebrating with Red Ginger and find it to be well worth the little extra you spend to dine there.
The service level matched the quality of food. Both were superb. It has been a new trend that a great restaurant doesn’t always mean great service. The service of this restaurant is unmatched. Whoever does the training should be given a raise. We are frequent fine diners, and this restaurant was top of the mark. The seafood pad Thai was delightful. Hats off.
My husband and I ate here for the first time last Thursday night during a week-long trip Up North. What a great restaurant. We could only get an early reservation (5:15) but we were seated at a great table near the waterfront-facing windows and, importantly, not once rushed by the waitstaff to turn the table. It was definitely filling up as we were leaving 90 minutes later, plus there was a very lively bar scene throughout our meal. My husband had the kung par chicken and I had one of the eel rolls - both were terrific - perfect seasoning and portion sizes. We will definitely keep Red Ginger on the list for a return trip when next in Traverse City.
Our dinner was fantastic! Chicken lettuce wraps were delicious. The only quirky thing about our night is that we had told them we were celebrating my birthday. I received a birthday card, but then all night, the waiter kept telling us, "happy anniversary!" :)
We were there for a special occasion and I am a vegetarian. The food was phenomenal and the staff were so nice, they all had signed a birthday card for him and wished him happy birthday while we were leaving. Paid special attention to special person! Awesome!!
