Red Ginger is located in the South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach. It offers Southeast Asian inspired, yet locally influenced, dishes that include sushi as well as a binchotan charcoal robata and an omakase sushi and sashimi menu. A special touch is the availability of high-quality, even rare, Japanese whiskeys. The dcor at Red Ginger is lush and inspiring.
On the izakaya section of the menu diners can choose from eggplant chips, lobster pad thai, Hamachi crispy rice, red curry coconut soup and miso sea bass. The robata section offers Korean BBQ ribs, teriyaki salmon and charred octopus. The somewhat limited menu also includes raw bar options, maki, sushi and sashimi. For a unique and specialized Asian experience, Red Ginger doesnt disappoint.
Limited menu.. It turned out that my first and second option were not available. This was not disclose by waiter at front. Had I known this I would leave but by the time we found out we had our wine served. Very disappointed for a restaurant in that price range.
We went on a Thursday and it wasn't packed, and the service was fairly slow. But the foos and drinks were really nice. Loved the buns
Not a good service for this t
Great service and the short rib was amazing
Food is delicious and fresh, we had mainly sushi and sashimi. Not overly priced. Only down side was the service, forgot one of our dishes, then when it did turn up it was sushi not sashimi, plus came along time after all the other dishes. Had to go up to the desk to pay the bill as they took so long and seemed to have forgotten about us. So the high rating is for the food.
The dinner menu is incredibly creative and interesting. For example, we had a blue crab pizza, actually a bit of blue crab on a tortilla with a delightful sauce. Wonderful. The egg plant chips would please anyone. Most of the plates are small, even the very fresh and delicate bass with miso sauce, which encourages experimentation. Red Ginger is superb Asian-influenced addition to the South of Fifth neighborhood. The wine list is fairly extensive and remarkably moderate in price for the location. We did find the dining room rather noisy for easy conversation because of the hard surfaces.
Good selection of food, rolls and portions. We were stuffed with four plates between two people. Lobster pad tai was amazing and the bread pudding. Pricey but good. Reminds me of Nobu mixed with Sushi Samba. Not too pretentious and casual atmosphere.
Four of us ate at this wonderful restaurant to celebrate a birthday and it was exactly what I was hoping for. I had eaten here 6 months ago and it was just as good as I remembered it then. The ambiance was perfect, the drinks were delicious, the sea bass, crispy rice, summer rolls were excellent and equally important, the service was impeccable. BEATRICE was our waitress and did an excellent job and it wouldn't have been half as nice without her! We felt spoiled and treated like queens, all four of us. WE WILL VISIT AGAIN!
This is a great neighborhood sushi restaurant south of fifth Street in South Beach. The bar is fantastic and they have a great cocktail menu. One of my favorite drinks is called the prenup, try it when you're there.
When I got my check they charged me $18 for diet coke. They gave me three glasses, each which held roughly 4-6 ounces of soda. After tax and tip they charged me more for diet coke then they did for the wine my date drank. This place will be out of business soon, and you will not have missed anything. The portions were small, the food was mediocre. The service was fair, but when I asked my waiter about the $18 diet coke, he laughed with gross embarrassment. I guess I'm not the first guest to be put off by being charge $18 (Which was $23 after tax and tip) for soda. 18% Gratuity was included, so no need for the staff to try hard.
Maybe if they weren't so greedy, I wouldn't have to tell the several million users of OpenTable and Yelp what a disaster this restaurant is.
Excellence all around
While traveling to Miami we were looking for local food and figured sushi would likely have local fish. The waitress, while very friendly, was unable to answer questions about the menu. We were at the restaurant for two hours due to slow service. They brought out two separate appetizers during this time which then led us to not be hungry for the food we actually ordered. They took the price of one roll off of our bill however they brought the roll out even when we said we did not need it. Gratuity of 18% was unfortunately already included in our bill. Wine list was decent but over priced, but not more than the average Miami restaurant.
Great food but order a bottle of wine or two. Drink service is slow
The server forgot to put our order in and it took 2 hours for us to finally get all of our dishes (and we ordered sushi so nothing that took a long time to cook). The manager handled it professionally but the server acted like the kitchen was backed up and blamed them (despite the fact tables that came in and ordered after us were finished with their meals before we even got our dishes). The food was ok - I wouldn't rush back. There are a ton of other sushi places in the area is recommend over this place.
wonderful atmosphere, great selection of food, Korean ribs to chicken Satai to skirt steak to fried ice cream.
A real outstanding meal.
The rock shrimp is unbelievable!!! Red Ginger is a must eat when in S. Beach
Red Ginger’s ambiance is an experience in itself. This is one of the most beautifully designed restaurants in Miami, complimented nicely by top-notch service and lounge music. Service is professional and attentive – food runners, bussers, and other servers will all assist you at some point during your night.
Our server, Carlos, exceeded any expectations we held. Never have I gone out to eat and been so blown away by the staff’s menu knowledge. Upon greeting us, he took it upon himself to overview each section of the menu and made insightful recommendations. This was much needed, because the whole menu sounds amazing. Throughout the night, he ensured we were happy with our choices and took great care of us. Carlos put all other service experiences we’ve had to shame. Take note, Red Ginger – this man deserves a raise!
Per Carlos’s suggestion, our table ordered rock shrimp tempura, miso sea bass, mizuna salad, Hamachi crispy rice, R.G. fried rice, El Mar ceviche, and a sashimi platter. There is not a single negative comment to be made about any dish. Everything was spectacular! Most notable is the sea bass (melts in your mouth), Hamachi crispy rice, and mizuna salad (even if you’re not a salad fan). Chef Anderson even personally came to check how we enjoyed our meal – great touch!
Never have I had dinner like I did at Red Ginger. Because of the service and food quality, we will doubtlessly be returning. New favorite restaurant on the Beach!
when we arrived at 6pm, we were shown to our table. we werent offered their happy hour menu. we had to ask for it. we were then informed that the main dining room wasnt allowed for happy hour, so we had to get up and move to their lounge. even though they offer happy hour, they dont seem to want to give it to you.
otherwise, we had a waiter named sonny who did a fantastic job. i would go back just for his service.
Really a great find on the beach. The sushi and entrees were great! Everything was fresh and prepared very well. I highly recommend Red Ginger. The atmosphere is great, very nicely designed bar and dinning area. The service was very professional and knowledgable of the food. The bartenders are great mixing up some great house specialities.
Love this restaurant so much I went back two days later
Great place to share
Our servers was amazing! Very attentive and fun. We were a group of 13 people for a team outing and we had an excellent time. We tried many different dishes and each one was delicious. I highly recommend Red Ginger to anyone who is in the area!
Second time here! Came back bc food was so great and service was amazing! Manager was very nice. Our server, Francisco, described the menu and every dish perfectly. So attentive. He's great!
This was our first visit to Red Ginger and we will be back. The menu is a unique mix of Asian dishes- with a variety of preparation styles - Japanese grill, sushi, ceviche, etc. We shared most dishes and enjoyed all of them. The presentations are attractive and the food delectable. The server was very well informed and very professional. The food is served 'as it is ready' which worked fine for us but may not be to all diners' liking. The only minor negative was that the initial round of drinks - nothing very special - took a while to arrive. We dined on the early side so noise was okay but given the interior finishes, we suspect that it gets a bit loud at peak hour.
I have been to Red Ginger several times and the food has always been very good. This time the server recommended the sea bass as being outstanding. When the dish was served, it was dry and rubbery almost to the point of being inedible. I had to force myself to eat it. When I mentioned this to the server, I suggested he inform the chef but was met with a cold response.I did not feel he had my interest at heart. I might hesitate to return.
Liked that it had small, medium and large plates making it easy to pierce together an interesting meal even though we were only two diners.
Fabulous food; impeccable service. Can't wait to return to explore the menu further.
Most of the dishes were cold. We complained but there was no reaction to our complain.
I have heard amazing things about Red Ginger so I was looking forward to the dining experience. Perhaps it was just an off night?
The service was poor and the food was disappointing to summarize. The menu is brief. The chicken lollipops were fried fat covered in a high sugar sauce. Not impressed. The truffle salmon maki was pretty ordinary for the price. There was no huge standout dish. The restaurant was not busy but our server was no where to be found. Unfortunately it was disappointing as a whole. Great bar scene though and would return for cocktails. Very limited vegetarian options.
the food is fantastic; it's not too expensive. decor is south beach. the servers are unctious and interrupted our dining each time one of our 9 orders was served. they should say 'may i clear' rather than 'are you finished'. the music made conversation impossible and tho there was only one other table at the time, audio was full blast. 4 requests to turn it down were accepted by the servers but the manager in charge said no one had passed along the request. will we go again - not with more than just the two of us - we couldn't enjoy each other's conversation.
Red Ginger is a beautiful restaurant, the food is quite good, service is OK, but the noise was intolerable. The sound track was dominated by pounding percussion, and people shouted to hear each other over it. The experience was simply head splitting. The food was really tasty, but we found the menu, while extensive in rolls, sushi and sashimi, quite limited in the number of creative cooked dishes. The octopus appetizer and the miso sea bass main course were delicious. We also ordered the spicy edamame appetizer. Although we like spicy food, we found this way too fiery.
Great food, even better service from Lewis. Music was fun and lively. A great evening!
I took a group of 6 here. Everyone agreed it was one of the best nights we have had. Food was excellent, service top notch and the restaurant was beautiful.
We just had a wonderful time at Red Ginger. The food was amazing- I think our favorite was the lobster pad thai and the coconut soup. The robata cauliflower was very nice also. Our waiter Carlos was very good and gave us many suggestions on what he thought we would like and he was also very attentive to our needs.
I hope the restaurant maintain this high quality, the atmosphere is very very nice, is it perfect with a romantic dinner or a small group of friends. It is a little dark on the table.
One of two entrees came out cold. Was sent back. Twenty five minutes later it still had not come back. The other person was completely finished with his entree. We told waitress never mind. It then finally appeared, so we said wrap it up. This cold entree was a sliced steak. Three minutes on each side, perhaps? Why it took about 25 minutes was annoying. Either the waitress screwed up or the kitchen was backed up (note that the restaurant was not packed). She (waitress) apologized throughout a thousand times, as did the manager. Why the kitchen did not put this order at the front of the line is my question. 25 minutes for a few slices of steak? Now, the manager did buy the two of us a glass of wine each, as well as take the entree off the check, and gave us 15% off the total check, so they tried to do the right thing. I'm still annoyed that that overall experience was ruined. Having said all this, the chicken lollipop appetizer was one of the best things I ever tasted, as was the shredded pork appetizer. So good. We were really looking forward to our entrees, but then everything went south. We will try this place again, but we may wait awhile.
The service, ambiance, and most importantly the food was excellent. We ordered a bunch of stuff and tried a bit of each, it was all great. The soft shell crab roll was a homerun.
Our group had a wonderful experience at Red Ginger on New Years Eve! The staff was so accommodating to our large party, and made the night even more fun. The food was excellent as always, and they really did a great job for New Years. I would highly recommend Red Ginger to anyone! Service was impeccable. Thank you Red Ginger!
Great restaurant, food and service. Loud environment and definitely expensive. Apx. 100USD per person!
One star off because of the noise level and the gold diggers. Otherwise: perfect.
Nice ambience. But food was ok at the best. Nothing special I would say for the price they are demanding. If you are looking for a nice quiet place, this is a good choice.
