Red Fish Grill Ratings and Reviews
I had the grilled shrimp and avocado po boy; my husband the alligator gumbo and fish tacos. The best of the three was the gumbo, which was very good. The other two were good, but not worth raving about - or going back for. Of all the meals we had over the weekend, it was at the bottom of the list. There are just so many great places to eat.
The service was good and cheerful. The location is hard to beat. The noise level was quiet, but we were there off-peak on a weekday, so there weren't many people there. If it was crowded then I can imagine it's much noisier.
My wife and I enjoyed a perfect evening and ejoyed a delicious meal at Red Fish Grill. The server was very friendly and helpful with ordering some excellent local beers. The food was delicious and creative. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of taste. The menu is full of local favorites and the presentation is perfect for a date. We really enjoyed the entire dining experience and it was easy to walk to from our Hotel five blocks away. We are definitely coming back next time we are in New Orleans.
It’s a great place to have surgery because the lights are turned up so high, you can see through each other.
A manager did come by and asked how are you we are doing and we did mention it and he did go over there but just turned it down just a tad, But I would not recommend it for a date night it’s too loud and too bright but the food and service was good.
One on the best meals I had while in NOLA and the worst timed meal I ever had in my life. Party of two - I ordered a cocktail, my dining partner had a question if they carried a particular liquor. My cocktail arrived with the answer. Next came out appetizers. The other cocktail arrived followed closely by our entrees - apps plates not cleared and not even half way through with our cocktails. My entree was cold, they promptly replaced it with a piping hot one. They had a lovely wine selection, many served by the glass so we wanted to try some. Unfortunately the wine did not arrive until we were almost done with our delicious entrees. Shame the meal and that wine were delicious - just not enjoyed together. I ordered their signature Red Fish Grilled plate - really one of the best seafood dishes I had my entire trip. I would try them again and space out the ordering of food, because the staff can't time things well, I do it for them.
My girlfriend and I had our thanks giving dinner here. There’s only a buffet open and the kitchen is closed so we didn’t have the chance to try the regular menu. It was too busy so the waiters were not very responsive but thanks for their service at Thanks giving. The sea food was fresh. The turkey was a plus. I would love to try their regular menu next time.
The restaurant had a buffet for Thanksgiving that sounded phenomenal, but wasn't. The food was cold and they ran out of specialty items like the redfish and the drum (a local fish). The "cajun" turkey was just regular old turkey. The side dishes were tasteless and congealed because they were cold. It cost $59 per person and was not worth it. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and remarkably efficient given the crowds they were turning over while we there.
We went to Red Fish Grill for Thanksgiving. It was great. All the New Orleans food we were looking for in a buffet. Turducken gumbo, shrimp and grits, oyster dressing, fried turkey, alligator cornbread stuffing, oysters, shrimp, more. Yum, yum, yum! Beyond the great food, two other things stood out - (1) veggies were still crisp - green beans in the casserole and roasted Brussels and cauliflower from the veggie station. Almost every buffet I have been to had overcooked soggy veggies (2) staff was great. The layout of the buffet was good and the staff members serving the food were friendly and interacting well with diners. It was an excellent meal and experience. I also appreciated the range of diners - from casual to more dressy. We all felt comfortable. They also had a nice, separate, buffet for the kids.
