Red Fin Crudo
A small group of us celebrated a special birthday. Our table was ready for our booked reservation. The wait staff is professional, knowledgeable & attentive. We all enjoyed the red sangria(real sangria with the fermented fruit). We had numerous small plates, Each one more delicious than the next. The grilled octopus was the star of the evening.
We all had a wonderful evening. Highly recommend.
We had a fabulous meal there. My partner is veggie and I'm omni. At most omni places, she get one or two entree choices. If we go to a veggie place, I'm a veggie for the night. Red Fin Crudo small plate menu allowed us to share 4 veggie plates; I had the meatball plate all to myself. It was perfect ordering for us.
All the dishes were delicious and smartly designed. Even with 5 dishes, the price came out the same as 1 app and 2 entrees at a regular fine dining place. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The tables are practically touching each other, so the noise level is high and a feeling of private intimacy low.
Overall, a fabulous night on the town. We will be back!
So glad you enjoyed it. Can't wait to see you again.
This is my 4th visit to Red Fin and has been by far the worst. The food is not consistent. We ordered 6 dishes and none were outstanding. Everything was just heavy and doused with cream. I don't plan on returning especially for the price tag.
High top tables out front, laptops and kitchen in the back. Love the small plates/tapas menu, cocktail menu, and wine list. Outstanding and attentive, charming service. Super fun! Go with a group to try lots of tasty tidbits.
We were promptly seated, service was wonderful. Our waiter was very informative and made great recommendations. The date and blue cheese salad was a great starter. The Street Corn and Brussels Sprouts were savory, though we could have skipped one. The Tuna Tartare is the best course we had. The octopus was nicely charred and had great flavor. Kathy and I are average eaters and 5 plates were a bit too much food. We will be back.
Loved the variety of flavors. Each dish unique. Not a quiet place. Staff is excellent. Kitchen was quick.
This was our second visit to Red Fin Crudo, a smaller restaurant and bar in downtown Providence. On this visit, we found it a mixed bag. We very much like the Tapas style dining but were underwhelmed by many of the dishes. We also found it to be very loud and think the metal chairs are very uncomfortable. The cement floors, hard surfaces and metal chairs likely contribute to the din.
We ordered a wide variety of dishes including:
* Scallops & Lobster in a Corn Cream Sauce - The description sounds much better than the dish. Some of this went uneaten.
* Charred Octopus - Everyone liked this dish
* Short Ribs & Risotto - The risotto was quite good, but the ribs were a little tough and dry.
* Chicken Wings - Overcooked, way too dry
* Croquetas De Jamon - Two diners liked this dish and one did not
* Beets - Everyone thought this was a good, basic dish.
* Roasted Garlic and Chipotle Hummus - One diner really liked this dish. Everyone like the accompanying Plantain Chips
Service was spotty, for example, it took about ten minutes to get a glass of wine, but the food arrived hot and the check came out promptly. This is a popular place on a Saturday night, and parking can be challenging this time of year. We parked in the Biltmore Garage next door to this restaurant, which cost $20. There was a garage a block away which we passed, that was only $10 but was full.
I'd rate Red Fin Crudo on this visit with 3.5 stars, and if not for the noise and uncomfortable seating, might nudge the review to four stars. Overall however, it warranted three stars on this visit, and I wouldn't rush back here for another dinner, nor would I decline a dinner invitation here.
Food was delicious. Great assortment of tapas. Very accommodating as we had tickets to a show after dinner.
We literally had everything in the menu thinking tapas but the portions are more than generous. I love their paella, raw bar and fancy Nancy in cocktails.
Service was average. Both of the specialty cocktails we tried were terrible. Seats were horribly uncomfortable. Two of the four dishes were good, but one was a simple meat & cheese plate. Disappointing, considering the good reviews.
Food was awesome! Would totally eat here again in a heartbeat.
The food was very creative and we enjoyed our selections. But beware, this is a pricey place. Each tapas is about $15-18 dollars. Sharing is OK if you are not super hungry, but if you need 3 tapas to make a meal than it does add up. That being said, the food is well prepared and nicely presented. The service was pleasant and not rushed. Nice addition to RI eateries.
The food was fantastic! Will go again soon.
Everything our party of four had was outstanding… calamari, shrimp ceviche, grilled octopus, empanadas, fish tacos, the steak, short ribs and risotto, lobster mac and cheese, and the brownie sundae. Yeah, we over-ordered, but we forced ourselves to eat ALMOST every last bite. Didn't quite make it and left a few morsels on some plates. The service was great, and the owner/chef Jennifer is very present and super friendly, seating guests, helping servers, etc. It was the first visit to Red Fin for our friends and they raved about it, even texted me the next day how much they liked it. One word of caution, if you're used to doing "apps and mains" — order a few plates to share first, and then put in your order for what you'd like to eat for your mains. Desserts are great too!
Every bite was divine. The beverages were incredible. It was a touch loud for a date for 2, but would have been perfect for a larger group. It is dimly lit, which was fine by me but seemed to be troubling for some of the nearby patrons using their phone flashlights to read the menu. Not a problem, just a warning. Thanks for the fantastic meal!
I have lots of allergies. Our server, Kevin, was very knowledgeable about the menu & very helpful. We never waited for anything. Food was timed very well. He made sure we had time to get to PPAC for the show, but managed not to rush through our meal. He’s great. Food was delicious. I’ve Ben before & will go again!
Braised shotgun risotto ruled!
Uneven experience at the restaurant.
Good side: service was great
Bad side: food was uneven
Went for preshow dinner With reservations seated right away. Ordered five dishes
Octopus : outstanding. The octopus was tasty and tender and the fava beans it came on were maybe even better. Loved it
Spinach empanadas: good, not great. Well cooked just a bit less flavorful than we were hoping
Pork belly: uneven, meaty pieces were dry and fatty pieces were perfect. Felt like they cooked them to right level and then reheated / fried to serve and it left them a bit over. The plantain mash with it was very tasty
Conch fritters: tasted ok but couldn’t tell you it was conch
Potato bravas: very disappointing. They were perfectly fine cooked potatoes but they weren’t fried. Basically small round potato’s that lacked much flavor. These should be fried but they weren’t
Overall atmosphere was good, service was excellent, but at that price point was hoping the food was more memorable. Will likely try again, given the service, but didn’t win me over
My husband and I, along with friends, dined at Red fin Crudo Saturday night. It was not crowded when we arrived but filled up quickly. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer. The appetizer came before the cocktail. We ordered our dishes. They were all very good. Things were fine until, while we were still eating, the server came over and asked us if we wanted dessert. We said we were not ready. He came back 5 minutes later and asked again. Again we said we weren't ready. The third time he asked he told us there was another reservation and he needed the table. We had only been there for an hour- not an extremely long time. As we left, I overheard the host say "good, they are leaving." He didn't thank us or say anything else. We spent over $250.00 and did not appreciated being basically thrown out of the establishment. While the food was good, this was a total turn off and we will not go back.
Very comfortable en iron. Dinner of Seared Trout on a bed of Vegie Hash was wonderful. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection
My husband and I enjoyed a myriad of wonderful flavors. The manu is fabulous and the service is great.
pleasantly surprised. a large group, we were all very happy. The drinks, food and the service was great. Highly suggest. We parked in the Biltmore Garage and showed our dinner receipt for money back.
My daughter and I had a reservation and felt a bit dismissively treated by the host but things improved after that. Our server Mark was attentive and knowledgeable, and his recommendations were perfect.
We started with local oysters that had fanciful names and were briny and fresh with a tart, peppery mignonette.
Then we shared the pork belly, the short-rib risotto, the charred octopus and the braised rainbow carrots. All of these were served with inventive unusual sauces and Spanish flavors “with a twist.”
We were super impressed and will definitely be back.
The Octopus is MUST! And the chocolate chip lava cake is incredible! We have loved this restaurant for years and always enjoy coming back. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is fun!
Our food was amazing! The kitchen was backed up the night we went, and we had to wait for a long time, but the food was worth it. Be aware of the noise level, though. We went on a Saturday night that was also a special event in Providence, Water Fire. Next time we'd try a weeknight. Don't miss the Conch Fritters or the Latin Street Corn.
This restaurant is very well rounded. The servers, cocktails, food, and variety of offerings are all great.
Ate here for my birthday - amazing food as usual. The tapas came out all at the same time unfortunately so it was a bit overwhelming and the waiter seemed to be overworked but the food and ambiance was great!
Food was great
The food is amazing!!! I love gourmet food and with the small plates you get to taste so many different kinds of foods. Can’t wait to go back!
We were very impressed with the attentiveness, friendliness, helpfulness and warmth of the personnel. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed, non-pretentious and warm. We were unfortunately in a hurry, but next time we will spend more time, try more dishes and bring friends or family to really appreciate it.
The service is never an issue always friendly. The food lacks consistency I would say . We had the risotto and loved it so much we had to come back for it , dreamed about if for two weeks and it was totally different the meat was not the same it was shredded soggy beef and the risotto was sour/ bitter sweet not creamy like the first time.We also had the paella and it was beautiful but the smell of the dish really threw off the taste . Sad because we loved the Restaurant and we definitely want to give it one more try.
Great tapas, but way over-priced as you get small portions at full plate price
Our experience at Red Fin Crudo was very good! 5 of us shared 7 tapas and 2 pitchers of red sangria. Our favorite was the mushroom quesadilla! The calamari was excellent and we had spinach and cheese empanadas, mussels, beets, lamb chops that were very good too. Definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit!!!
We were seated outside so I do not know what the ambiance was inside, but the food was very good.
Had a family get together here and ordered numerous tapas to share. All were good to very good. Service was very good initially, although as they got busier it became sporadic at best. However, the metal chairs at the tables are extremely uncomfortable - all of our party agreed on this. We would not return based on this.
The food here NEVER disappoints! It is unique, delicious, and I can't get enough!
Red Fin Crudo is casual, friendly, creative, and energetic. The service is excellent. Everything we ate was delicious, fresh, and served quickly. Gary the waiter was enthusiastic and helpful. Great tapas - order a little or a lot.
We had been to RFC a few times before and the food is always very good. There were 3 of us and we ordered 6 tapas including shrimp, charred octopus, patatas braves, short rib and a couple of others. Everything was delicious and our waiter did a good job. My 2 comments about this place is how dark it is and the value. It's too damn dark. Being able to clearly see what you're eating, imo, adds to the experience and this place is just too dark. The 2nd comment is about the value. Yes the food is good but just too expensive for what you get. the carted octopus is a good example. The amount you octopus you get for the price is just not worth it. Good food, good service but value misses the mark. Been here a few times, will likely not return.
