Red Drum Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Always delicious! This is my husband's favorite place for a good steak and southwestern food. We enjoyed a great meal for his birthday; Tristan took good care of us. (He even boxed up dessert-to-go.) Try the smoked chicken enchiladas - great spice but not too hot!
Red Drum lived up to our high expectations. A trusted friend recommended Red Drum as a great spot to celebrate my sister moving to Mt. Pleasant. It didn't disappoint!
We started with chips and salsa which made for a good introduction to the place. It included two salsas, a red one and a guac version - both really good. We struggled to find vegetarian options that appealed to my sister and our server suggested we go with a veggie plate, leaving it up to the chef to craft. It sounded good enough for both of us to try. It was excellent and will bring us back again and try more menu items. Wine selection was solid too.
Red Drum has been the best place we have tried in the Mt Pleasant area and I highly recommend it.
I love the food at the Red Drum. The brunch is fantastic. I will continue to return there. The one thing I do not like is how loud the main dining room is. I feel like I have to yell just to be heard the whole time I am there. The food is so good that it outweighs the obnoxiously high noise levels.
The Food was outstanding , the best I have had at any Restaurant in Charleston.
The Noise level was Deafening, yelling across the table was not what I wanted to do.
The Air conditioning was not working well.
I had a lovely View of the refrigerator and Ice machine.
I will not be taking my wife back for our 35 th Anniversary.
Not sure I would go back. Red Drum was recommended to us by foodie friends so I was all over it!! We ordered a grilled octopus that parts were barely cooked and slimy/mushy, a grilled salmon which was tasty, and the shrimp and grits with the latin flair for my son (he was hoping for a more traditional s and g's). Dessert was a very rich and dense pecan cake. We both finished nothing yet we were were so full from the richness of our meals! As a former server for many years, I sense the restaurant has seen better days. Drink specials were nice. I also found it very expensive for what we got.
We have been to Red Drum a couple of times in the past. We also have recommended it to lots of people and rave about the scallops. We were very disappointed that they are no longer on the menu but are still advertised on the website and Facebook page. In fact, pretty much the entire menu has changed. The only dish available with scallops was a pasta dish which also included clams. They did leave the clams out for me, but the scallops were no where near the size as the usual ones, not as good either. The pasta was a bit too done and the sauce on it tasted as if it had cornmeal in it. Not my idea of a $30 bowl of food. The salmon my husband ordered was just ok. Nothing spectacular like the normal meals in which we order from there. The wait staff was great! Very attentive with water etc. the noise level was quite loud that night, even though the restaurant was not full. We wish we would have known about the changes before deciding to make reservations on our date night.
We took my elderly in laws to the Sunday Brunch for their anniversary. The food was outstanding, great drinks, however the noise level was hard for an elderly couple. They had a real hard time hearing due to the noise carrying. I would recommend just be aware of the loudness.
