We had reservation for a party of 8 for Sunday Brunch and they were ready for us; seated right away. Staff was amazing, outdoor dog friendly patio is a super plus! Delicious food, great portions for price point! The pork belly, it is one of the best thing on the menu, get it... you will not regret!!! Spicy fried chicken and waffle, great balance of flavors. The chicken breast was juicy and tender with the correct amount of fried goodness!

Great team from the host, bartenders, chefs and to our waitress patty. Rare date night for us and we loved our time dining outside. Ginger beer on tap is excellent!

The food and atmosphere at Red Door is amazing. I have never been disappointed with a meal here. There patio seating is great for a nice summer night and the service is phenomenal!

Delicious food, but at the prices they offer for the portion size I felt like the place was very over-priced. I got the prime rib melt, plenty of food, but the rest of my group got different meals, the avocado toast looked very interesting and creative but the portions were meager. The plus side was both the bar area and outdoor patio were beautifully designed and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Our server was very laid back and friendly, hardly in sight but would check in on us every so often and if we ever needed any help she was no more than 5 feet away. I never felt rushed to eat my food and leave, nor did I feel ignored by the staff. More so a place for a light dinner and drinking than a full dinner date.

Red Door is easily my top pick for brunch in Chicago. Between the incredible food, awesome drink selection, and friendly wait staff, it's nearly impossible to go wrong!

Service was awful, took 40 minutes for our food (salad and a burger) this made us late to our show. Staff wasn't apologetic and were rude.

Food was delicious, but service was absolutely awful. Took several hours to get through a few courses, we frequently had empty water and wine glasses and had to get up and find servers to get their attention.

Didn't think to much about it. Ended up being pretty great. Great food, excellent craft cocktails, more than excellent beer list. Looking forward to my next visit.

Still not sure what qualifies as a Gastro-Pub, but I found Red Door while searching for a Gastro -Pub and I must like them. I was having trouble finding a parking spot, and the Host came outside and pointed me in the right direction. Very helpful service. Efficient but not too pushy. Food was great! We split a pasta appetizer and then split a Burger. Very well prepared on both accounts. Strong beer list.

Looking forward to going back when we can see it in the summer.

The new back room is awful. Food lacked flavor. Moscow mules were still amazing. I've been here 5 or 6 times but unfortunately Red Door has lost my business after this past experience.

I had the pleasure of dining at red door for my birthday. I had a large party of 14 and the staff was very accommodating. They had great suggestions on the food and everything came out tasting great! The mimosas were great and the bloody mary's were filled with horseradish (my favorite!) I would recommend Red Door to anyone in the Bucktown area for a brunch experience as well as a great outdoor experience as it warms up.

Whoa! Can someone say salt lick? I love my flavor but everything was heavy handed. The gnocchi might as well have been pillows of sea salt and the kale chips, which we sent back for being more like dust and "crumbly" as defined by our server were thankfully not charged to our bill.
If you sit in the back it'll feel cold and way too bright. And in the front, good luck seeing your food by candlelight.

The back room was a very different area than the front room. Food was excellent, but really for foodies...they don't have food or a beer list that caters to the fearful of new and unique tastes. Menu was incredibly short with just a few items, mostly small plates for sharing.

This is a casual spot, darkly lit, and comfortable. The periodically changing menu always offers up fantastic dishes for carnivores and non-meat eaters. They also offer craft cocktails and a well thought out list of beers from local microbreweries. Brunch and dinner are both always great.

Walking into Red Door was like discovering a long-lost, hidden treasure. As someone who appreciates the details, I was in love. Whether it was the elegantly rustic atmosphere, luscious hand-crafted cocktails or mouthwatering tapas-style dishes, all of my senses were captivated during my dining experience. The atmosphere was vibrant and energetic yet quiet enough for conversation. The quality of our service, particularly our waiter, was outstanding as well. I will definitely be back again.

Our waitress may just have been having an off night, but we came to the Red Door with a 4 course (with wine pairing) deal from Gilt City and did not have a great experience. Our waitress didn't describe any of the food she brought out and our wine pairings came out AFTER we finished each course! My husband asked her what the first wine was (meaning Pinot Grigio, chardonnay, etc...) and all she said was "it goes with your meal". Lastly, the couple next to us had the same 4 course pairing and a different waitress and they were always one course ahead of us so we heard their waitress explain that one of the dishes was spicy. When I asked our waitress if there was a spicy dish (I don't like spicy food) she said no and walked right away. Sure enough the next course came out and it was spicy. Not a huge deal but the overall experience was negative and that didn't help matters.

I came with a large group around 8:30pm, after the dinner rush, and we enjoyed their signature cocktails, appetizers, and desserts. It was a cute little place, and I hope to go back soon for dinner. The service was attentive.

A very nice experience. I was looking forward to the red door and the service and food was excellent. My mother is slightly hard of hearing and the volume level of the music made it difficult to communicate. For a family style dinner on a holiday where older people might attend i felt the volume excessive.

It took 15 minutes at least to receive our drinks. We could see them sitting, but the server was very slow to get them to the table. We had to ask for everything we needed. the atmosphere was okay, although didn't like the high booths where are feet are dangling and don't have any place to put them. It was good, was it worth the 185.00 we spent for 3 people...not exactly, but still quaint place for a neighborhood bar and restaurant. Not exactly a destination experience at all.

Food was all right, but waitstaff seemed out of sorts and though I can roll with a lot, I get concerned when I see basic waitstaff etiquette fall by the wayside (fingers on glass rims while setting juice down, difficulty remembering order details, a bit flustered and distracted). Most people working seemed hungover from Friday night before. House potatoes were good, omelet mediocre. My friend loved the short rib. Overall, the experience was fine, but not extraordinary. Was hoping for more, because I love my neighborhood and want this small business to do well.

This place was highly rated when it opened years ago and I haven't been back since recently. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as I remembered which was a bit of a disappointment. However, they continue to carry good whiskey.

it was really fun. loved the patio...the lighting was perfect. the only problem is that it to 20 minutes for the waitress to even stop by, then anther 15 before we got our first drink. that's 35 minutes sitting at our table with no drink. i used to be in the business and that is way too long to wait.
food very yummy but came out extremely slow...we were in no rush but all super slow.

Food was very good. Good enough that we'll go back despite a poor experience. I needed to change my reso. to 8:30. A man answered & said "oh, you weren't planning on eating were you?" I told him "yes, that's why I made an Open Table reservation". He asked if I wanted to sit inside or out. I told him I didn't care & he said "Oh, OK then. I'll tell them to change it", but he never asked my name or told the host. Server was nice, but forgot our drink (I had to get it from the bar) and never gave us any warning that the kitchen was closing (website says 12:00). We said we were going to order a lot & quickly ate a "snack", 2 app's and 1 entrée. When we tried to order more (9:10) she said "sorry, it's closed" and offered a shot instead

We went here for dinner with a group of friends, 8 total I think, on a nice summer evening. This part of Damen Ave. is much preferred, more laid back, and less daunting then the uber congested "six corners" nightmare further south. Easy parking, (maybe still free in areas?)was a definite bonus. The patio is enclosed with lots of greenery. We didn't have to sit and wait at the bar for our whole group to arrive, either. (it's nice when places trust you like that, and respect your time ) Not too busy that you couldn't hear the person across from you, always a plus. Drink menu, nice selection, drink service; a tad slow, menu was nothing too special, but certainly not bad. My husband really enjoyed his steak, the flavor was very good, a true medium as requested and the crisp exterior was perfect. We had an event, so we needed to be "in and out" and that was accommodated without issue.

Red Door is the best. The patio rocks, and the food is amazing. Seriously, maybe the best burger in the city. Seriously. But the best part of Red Door are the peeps who work there: perfect level of attentive but not smothering, super friendly and chill, stylish and cute. My boyfriend and I go here all the time and the patio is great for groups of friends too, whether you're eating dinner or just grabbing a drink. Thumbs all the way up. Next, I gotta get there for brunch.
