I had the best time ever at Red Dog! The drinks were great, the food was amazing, the staff was so friendly and energetic and the vibe was on point! I will most definitely recommend Red Dog and will be back next time I visit San Francisco.
The drinks were good the service was reasonable the food was very mediocre! It wouldn't have taken much additional care to make the limited menu good but it was all very slap dash, over cooked burgers, overdressed salads, too much batter on the onion rings, stodgy jambalaya etc etc
We had made a reservation and arrived to find the restaurant was closed and doing kitchen maintenance. Management forwarded us to a sister restaurant and we were accommodated. Management paid for the first drink so was not a loss. We cannot really comment on Red Dog as a restaurant but their management team were very helpful after the mix up.
Very loud even though not that busy.
Had a nice brunch the other day. Definitely SF pricey. Modern clean vibe though all hard surfaces so on a crowded night I’m sure it’s very loud. Service was excellent. Food was good - inventive takes on classic brunch and lots of house baked options. Parking on Sunday is easy - other days and game days we imagine Lyft is the better option.
Overall solid place with good food and great wait staff.
All in all very good. There was a mistake in my order but the staff promptly corrected it.
Good food and lively place.
Really great time for a going away party.
Service has gone way down hill in the last few months.
It wasn't open. I went there and it was closed. Why was I able to make a reservation?
Thanks Reddog for the nice lunch, I always like that you menu is changing and new and old things come and go. I had the BLT, it was very good. I have also had the fried chicken sandwich in the past as well as the salmon, all great dishes.
Unfortunately we dined on a random Tuesday evening and only a couple tables were occupied and a couple was at the bar. The host was not at the front, but the bartender motioned the server to seat our group of four. We ordered starters but after about 40 minutes or so, three of our four entrees were served; it seems that the server forgot that we had ordered starters. Considering that only a couple tables were occupied it seemed odd that our food took so long to be prepared and served. There were a couple servers (possibly one was the manager) standing around and talking then went outside for a cigarette. We were then advised that the bar was closing but we could order dessert. Definitely one of the worst dining experiences in San Francisco save for the Kronnerburger pop-up on Mission Street!
Love the brunch
I think the wait staff in the kitchen were stretched a little thin. Waited to order and to get our food. . But otherwise everything was really good. I’d return.
I had a wonderful brunch sitting outside in the cool summer morning in San Francisco.
Our table was not ready upon arrival. We waited nearly 10 minutes once seated for a waiter and only received one once I asked. After the food arrived the waiter did not return to check on us. The music was blasting over our heads, but they did turn it town when I asked. Overall the food was good, but they need to either add service staff or improve on attending patrons.
Good food and quick
I have previously dined at Red Dog and had a disappointing service experience. But, the food was OK so I chalked it up to an off-day.
I recently came back for a business lunch. Our server was slow to greet us and take drink orders, but eventually came and we put our orders in. The food also took a long time to arrive.
Two of my colleagues ordered salads topped with fried chicken. Which, is printed on the menu. Our server said 'OK' and took their orders down. When the meals arrived, their salads were topped with what looked like boiled chicken with no seasoning. One of them asked if they could have fried chicken instead on the side. The server responded, "that's no longer on the menu". Weird, because it was plainly printed on the menu AND is on the menu that is on their website right now. And, she said nothing when they both ordered salads with a fried chicken add-on.
Another of my colleagues ordered a sandwich with chips and got fries. Not a huge deal. But yet another ordered the salmon dish cooked medium well. The fish was still raw in the middle. I had a pasta bowl of the day. It was fusilli with a mushroom bolognese sauce. It was fine, but not good or great, and at the very least not offensive as my fellow diners dishes were. Had our server been back to our table to refill waters or check in or expressed any interest in how our meals were, we might have complained. But, we figured it was better to just get out.
After one unimpressive experience and one that was plainly bad, we will not be back. There are too many very good lunch options in SoMA to spend my money on 1) food that's not good or accurate, 2) service that doesn't care.
Literally ONE entree on the menu was available on a Wednesday night at 6 PM. And maybe half the appetisers. Had the distinct feeling the restaurant was not stocking the kitchen (or the bar... barely any bottles on the shelves) in advance of a closing. Besides the extremely disappointing dining experience overall the food was nothing special. The wait staff was congenial but I felt badly for them as they were the ones on the front lines letting folks know the kitchen had nothing to serve.
They argued about our order at the server station long enough for most of it to be very cold when it arrived. Sad place, not very well run, serving decent airport bar style food.
Comfy booth and great combination of drinks/dinner for a work meal
Great place, very accommodating despite our extremely large party.
Not mad at this place, but the service was slow. Tempeh BLT was just above average.
Came on rainy day lunch during conference. Empty when arrived but as soon as other people showed up waiter was not very attentive. Place was never very busy but waiter Forgot part of order. Food was fine but given number of great places in SF no need to go back to place.
Love this place. It’s a neighborhood staple
Most delicious burger I’ve had in a long while! And the chicken sandwich and bowl were enjoyed by others in our party. Would definitely have lunch here again.
Good food and easy to make a reservation. Not crazy crowded like most weekend brunch spots.
We showed up for our 8:45 reservation to be told they had already closed. They didn't appear to know we had a reservation, and seemed surprised when we told them we had one. While they did offer us a glass of wine while we figured out other options, we declined. We live just around the corner and will likely not return to a restaurant that honors neither it's hours nor reservations.
Had a good late brunch and drinks before a Sunday game. Everything was delicious and the service was great.
We will go again. Convenient location and very good menu.
It was good food. I liked the burger. five stars
A limited menu but I was able to find a very healthy Salmon entree . I sat at the bar and the two bartenders were attentive. It can get noisy , especially during happy hour.
My partner and I went for Sunday brunch. I made reservations for 10:30. When we arrived there was only 2 tables occupied. I was surprised as the restaurant we dined at the day before had an hour wait. The waitress was very kind. Our meals arrived promptly, my partner and I were leery about the food due to the lack of customers, however to our delight it was very good.
I like the ambiance at Red Dog -- clean lines, casual and not too loud. In the past, the service has been very slow, but was pretty good yesterday. Sadly, the food -- pea soup (mine) and market veggie bowl (my friend's) were so mediocre. Boo. The beer bread with sweet butter was delicious!
Excellent food and service. Loved the vegetarian chili!
Great food, friendly staff and an overall great vibe! Red Dog is a must.
I love the farm vegetable rice bowl. Perfect lunch option.
You took my reservation and when I arrived. You were closed for a private party. No notice, no warning. Not coming back. I gave you notice.
Our server was amazing and on point. She brought everything we needed xactly when we needed it. Our water and coffee were always refilled . I had the chicken with gravy and biscuit and it was delicious! I will definitely go back
Service is super slow, took 20 minutes just to have somebody come and take our order
