We were put off immediately when 5 of us entered the very crowded vestibule and were rather rudely told to move aside. Then we were seated in the most boring, windowless, ugly room. Our waters went unfilled even after asking for them to be filled. Our waitress failed to mention that the default salad dressing was a cranberry vinaigrette. It was only when taking the final person’s order that we heard about any salad dressing choices. Our waitress did nothing to engage us. C’mon, if you are charging those kind of prices, you better have great service. The meals were delicious, but we were pretty turned off by the whole experience. None of us will return.
The overall experience was very pleasant. The food was fabulous but a little bit pricey. The server Julia was fantastic. We sat in the bar which was just fantastic.
It is rare situation that combines a short drive, casual dress and elegant dining for a memorable dining experience. It is a gem in Lake Country!
This is our 'go to' special occasion restaurant. The bistro/bar is warm and welcoming, and the restaurant side is quiet and romantic. The chef is amazing; however, the sauce on the grouper special was salty on this occasion. The filet has never let me down. I love that they have traditional favorites such as beef Wellington and creme brulee, but also take risks with spicy fare and non-traditional items on their specials menu. We live in the area, but this place is worth a drive to Lake Country.
This was our first visit. I was a little bit disappointed by the decor, but the service was excellent which can be difficult to find in lake country. Really wonderful server. Delicious dinner and cheesecake. We will definitely go back.
We have been to the Red Circle Inn several times. We have always found the food to be excellent. We love the Beef Wellington and the sniffles. We like the ambiance of an inn which has been there since 1847.
Consistently a special dining experience. A menu that offers seafood to meat to small plates and bistro dining in the bar. Libations always to taste. A wine list to satisfy any palate. Your meal is paced well. Service is friendly with great attention to details . One of our top five favorites.
4 of us had an very nice dinner here. All the meals were excellent . We ordered the Beef Wellington, Duck Montmorrency and the fresh Whitefish fillet. The food was prepared perfectly. The entrees came with whipped potatoes and fresh vegetables. All meals came with soup or salad which were excellent as well.
The ambiance is very nice and service was very good but not intrusive. Prices are moderate $28-39 for the entrees we tried.
Red Circle Inn touts itself as Wisconsin's oldest restaurant. We had a nightly special (blackened grouper) and the lobster. Both were excellent -- the whole lobster in particular was a very good value at $44. For dessert we had a chocolate souffle, a rare find on a restaurant menu.
Service was excellent, but for some reason the waitstaff seemed determined to seat us near the kitchen in a dining room full of vacant tables. We finally prevailed on another table, but we later noticed staff once again steering diners to the table near the kitchen. There was live jazz duo in the bar, which competed with recorded music playing in the dining room. Finally, the dining room was a little cool -- maybe the table near the kitchen got some reflected warmth.
Wonderful food as always and great service. Most tender pork I’ve ever had and attentive staff.
Such a treat to have incredible food and off the charts service. Both of us were celebrating our birthdays and we were treated like royalty. The Cesear salad was terrific and the Whitefish outstanding. They treated us to a souffle. Neither of us had ever had one before and at our age..... We wanted to lick the plate, it was that good. Highly recommend!

Red Circle Inn is a wonderful blend of classic upscale dining and casual elegance. We enjoyed every moment from fabulous wine, tasty salads, wonderfully prepped entrees, and decadent desserts. Katherine our server was professional and warm without going overboard. If you haven’t been here lately, you’re missing out. It was awesome!
