Red Circle Inn & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I have dined at Red Circle Inn a few times for special occasions but not for several years. This return visit was a great experience and I should not allow so long to pass before going back. Food was excellent especially pan roasted white fish fillet. In fact everything that we selected was remarkable from the crab cakes and manhattan clam chowder to the special menu item, St Peter's fish (although the white fish was even better).
A draft from the dining room doorway was annoying due to where I was seated. The dining room is quiet and trying to ignore conversation at the next table was a small difficulty.
Service was friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Dinner was served at a perfect pace. We really enjoyed the three-wine flight just to have a little variety at an economic price.
The Inn has a very fine reputation and our experience totally matched that.
Bistro area is quite small. We arrived a little earlier than our reserved time, were seated at last table available, which was one of the small two seat tables. Candle, flower vase and wine list took up extra space on top of table so don't feel you really need them. But, having said the previous, the FOOD WAS FANTASTIC!!!!! Cannot say enough about the flavor. Not being big eaters anymore, the size of the plates were just perfect for us. Will definitely go again and enjoy!
Hostess was great and accommodating. Waitress was very good in many service respects, but in understating how to ensure a customer’s preferences she was a little too cavalier; and the food that needed to be prepared just so had to be sent back and redone. Overall good experience but understand the food is in the fairly expensive category.
Red Circle is always a great place to dine and we go there every few months every year. The menu offers well-made options - I particularly like the filet, the Beef Wellington, the osso bucco, and the duck. There was a very nice sweet potato soup to start the meal this time. Service is spot on.
The staff were very courteous and friendly. The grilled pork chop entree that I had was fantastic. One of the finest pork entrees that I have ever had. The wine selection was very good. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The noise level was very low, making it easy to have a conversation.
Most of the staff was very professional. I liked using the iPad to look at photos of food items. The bench seating seems "cheap" for such a formal restaurant. I had guests on both sides of me, within 2 feet. It was too easy to hear other conversations.
Fantastic as usual! My husband and I along with our son who was visiting from out of state came here for our wedding anniversary. Our meals were terrific! I had the lamb which was done perfectly. (A month earlier I had the duck and it was fabulous also.) My husband had the special Cajun halibut which he said was very tasty and perfectly done. My son had the steak special which he said was outstanding. Our waitress was very good and helpful for my husband and I have allergies and or food intolerances which she was very helpful in getting us the right food. Being it was our anniversary my husband and I both received a free dessert of our choice. I had crembrulle, my husband had sorbet and my son had the tuxedo cheesecake. All were fantastic! I really love this place for a fine meal without having to be very dressed up if you don't want to be. Highly recommend!
My wife and I both had their beef filet which were done to perfection. Juicy and tasty as usual. This visit we had their crème brulee and I had their bread pudding. Both were great, but the bread pudding was excellent. I will definitely have that again. The wait staff is always great, but I have to say my waitress this time around had to be the best so far. Vicki, was attentive, but not intrusive and really listened to want we wanted. Her recommendation for the bread pudding was spot on based on my interest in desserts. Hostess followed through with my request to be by a window, great waitress and fantastic food, made for a great evening. Also the old fashion at the bar to get the evening started was really good.
The food (beef wellington and filet mignon) were fantastic. The beef had a melt in your mouth texture with good flavor. The shrimp bisque before the main course was silky and I wish I could have licked the cup clean. The only downside was that the tables were close together that it made me a little uncomfortable. I felt like I was dining with my neighbors and when the waitress served the table on either side of us, she was almost on top of me. I would definitely go back as the food was well worth it.
Fabulous five star experience all around. Outstanding wine selection and attentive wait staff. Started with oysters Rockefeller which were some of the best I've ever tasted. My husband and I had the filet and salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the French green beans and roasted potatoes complemented the dish perfectly. Finished the meal with their carrot cake which amazing and worth every calorie. Highly recommend!
I've eaten at a lot of restaurants over the years, and most in the lake country area. The Red Circle Inn outshines them all. Yes, the restaurant is the oldest in the state. Yes, they do focus on dishes that many places have abandoned years ago such as beef wellington. However, they are the shining example of how fine dining in lake country should be done. Every element of our meal was perfect. Here's our meal.
Drinks: I had a classic Maker's Old Fashioned, my girlfriend had a glass of wine. Old fashioned was perfect. Strong, but flavorful with just the right amount of bitters. A+
Bread: The rolls were warm, perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Butter was soft, which was perfect for the warm bun. A+
Entree: I had beef wellington with garlic whipped potatoes and baby carrots. Perfect! Beef wellington can be difficult to master. They executed it perfectly. My steak was a text book medium rare, the flavor was outstanding and the sauce awesome. The whipped potatoes were very flavorful and the carrots (home grown) were perfectly cooked. My girlfriend had the halibut special, which was served with edible flowers(home grown), grilled zucchini and an herb sauce. It was wonderful and very nicely presented. Especially the addition of the borage flowers which really set it apart from other restaurants. A+
Dessert: We split the apple tart and a classic brandy alexander. The tart was flakey and perfectly cooked. A+
