I was very disappointed, Red Cat used to be wonderful, great food, elegant, sophisticated.
I last visited a few years ago.
It is no longer any of the above.
the food was expensive & dull, cheap ingredients, badly executed.
maybe it's changed hands.
I would not visit it again. sorry -
Great brunch menu, lots of choices for vegetarians and meateaters alike. Lovely, attentive service but never felt rushed, have been coming here for years.
Everything was great. The Honey Badger was just too sweet for me.
They have a no outside drink policy which is fine so they took my girlfriends Starbucks coffee. Upon leaving they told us they there the drink out. This is unacceptable. If they were going to throw it out they should have told us. Most restaurants have a policy where they hold it off on the side somewhere.
Food was also too pricey (and salty) for what you got.
We always enjoy Red Cat. The food is reliably good - we have enjoyed everything, each visit. The waiters are lovely. Could use a bit more 'service' with the staff who actually serve the food. We will definitely return. Neighborhood favorite, great late night dinner and bar, and special occasion restaurant.
Excellent quality food and service. Wine on the expensive side
one of the best places in the city. i hope it always stays as special as it is.
Top notch restaurant. Great food. Excellent service. A benchmark New York restaurants should aspire to.
This is a solid restaurant. It never disappoints. Good food. Good service. Warm welcoming atmosphere. We have been coming here on an off for over ten years. The perfect winter restaurant - cozy - not too noisy - comfortable bar.
fantastic find, great ambiance, truly foodie for the price!
Menu was limited for fish eaters--just Hake and Skate: two undesirable fish items. Otherwise, service, atmosphere and veggie appetizers were v. good
I love the Red Cat! The only problem is I don’t eat meat or poultry so I do wish there was a pasta option without meat as an entree.
My go to place to reconnect with friends. Great salads and appetite
Excellent cocktails, service friendly and attentive
Red Cat is always great. Have been going since before 2000 and the staff is always welcolming, the vibe is always mellow and the food is always great. A very reliable, totally enjoyable pick.
Service is pleasant, curteous and with a smile; we went for Saturday brunch and the restaurant was fairly empty. Food is prepared as ordered - I had the burger medium well, and is accompanied by amazing home made potato chips - I could have eaten a whole lot more of those (they should sell them on the menu as a side!) Wine list by the glass is smartly curated and well priced.
Definitely a place to stop in if you're in Chelsean visiting galleries or walking the High-Line.
Food is great. Service is great. Restaurant is cozy. Perfect on a winter night.
Cate is the best! Wonderful dinner as always. Great neighborhood spot. Excellent food.
Thanks Alex, Heather, Jimmy, and the entire team for a great snow night evening. The Red Cat always exceeds!
Great service and food! Loved the ambience
The service was fine, my chicken however was under seasoned and cold. There was supposed to be pesto but I did not see nor taste any. The others in my group had better experiences with their food.
Very welcoming, cosy restaurant with interesting food and wine list. Highly recommended.
Great spot for a leisurely lunch. Been around some time for a reason.
Friends recommended it and we were not disappointed. Excellent food and wine. Able to have conversation without saying I cannot hear you. The menu could have a few more offerings. Pleasant service. Will be back.
We went for brunch— Red Cat has been on so many must-try lists, we figured it was time to try it out.
Service was great and friendly, but the food was hit or miss. The Grilled Nutella and Banana Toasts were delicious and decadent. But our mains were so-so. My friend and I both ordered the baked eggs— they were lacking in flavor— nothing to write home about. Neither of us finished. I also had a side of sausage (a brunch favorite), it wasn’t bad, but I can’t say I’d ever want to have it again— it was a very thick patty. Also did not finish the portion. My other friend had the German pancake which was very thin — he left brunch still hungry. Another person ordered the vegetable bowl with tuna— they said it was good.
Also, I was expecting the place to be packed on a Saturday— I had to use a credit card to book a table of 4 and couldn’t cancel without a charge. We were one of about three tables.
Overall, Red Cat was fine, but probably won’t be back.
We sat in a cozy corner of the restaurant perfect for people watching and date night. Table number 58 I think, ask for this table on reservation as it’s popular. The service was quick and very attentive. The food was great, especially the tempura beans! We will definitely recommend and come again on our next trip to New York! 😊
Lunch with family on a weekday. food good, service good, conversation good. All good.
Fantastic food, fantastic service.
We were visiting NYC and had brunch here.
I cannot say enough about our server, Kate.
She was phenomenal. She went out of her way to accommodate one of our friends with a food allergy and was just generally nice.
I would highly recommend this place.
Every item we had was delicious - including a blood orange mimosa.
Do not leave the restaurant without trying the tempura green beans.
Great spot for a birthday celebration
Good dinner with friends. Several appetizer options for vegans (though not as much for kosher -- two fish to choose from, one was non-K and the other was in a clam broth). Definitely recommend the tempura green beans and baba au rum.
Always incredible. One of my favorite places . The fois gras terrine is to die for! Their rum and scotch selections are fantastic and th Le service is always superb
We had a nice meal here with friends. The food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. I would not go out of my way to go here, but if I was in the neighborhood would certainly return.
Welcoming from the minute you walk in.
Staff is efficient and pleasant and helpful!
Knowledgeable about the menu!
Spent the weekend in NYC and this was my favorite restaurant! So lovely! Wonderful veggies and the skate was as delicious as it was 15 years ago. Perfect service and a wonderful wine selection at great prices! My jacket was delivered warm to me at the conclusion of dinner and I was grateful for the extra touch!
Beautiful ambience. Not stuffy. Great service. A NY icon .
This was our second time to eat at the Red Cat. This time we brought friends. We had a show and needed quick service/turnaround. They were wonderful about making sure we were out on time. We didn't feel rushed. Food was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Always a classic and never disappoints, with one of those menus where you just can’t decide what to get because everything sounds good!
Great food, fantastic service, and a charming setting. Baba Rum for dessert was amazing.
Ive been eating here for years and loved it for so long. Sadly my guest couldnt even finish her meal. The food has gotten pretty bad :(
