Every meal here has been a delightful and delicious experience! A varied menu offers something for all, great cocktails and an extensive wine list. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they don't rush you through the meal to turn the table. Very cozy and welcoming environment. One of my top and favorite restaurants!
Very pleasant location and very good food. Excellent vodka and wonderful imaginative service. I love coming here because it is a lot of fun, people are friendly and it is full of life. Close to the highline so possible to exercise first or after eating the delicious food.
So impressively run. Food is great and they somehow after all these years keep amazingly happy and attentive staff. A rarity in NYC...
Always a great dining experience here. Friendly and knowledgeable service and overall excellent food and wine. On this evening I had the best duck breast I've eaten in a long time. My only suggestion is to try to get a table in the back away from the bar, which can get a bit noisy.
WE've been here maybe 5 times in the past year. Its always excellent. Duck beats is awesome. For he dessert pistachio semi-credo is off the charts.
I hadn’t eaten at Red Cat for a number of years (location ) and was thrilled to eat here again . The warm and knowledgeable service, beyond excellent food, comfortable and grown-up atmosphere will bring me back a lot more often now
Was a wonderful birthday celebration!!
The standout does not disappoint . . . even under pressure.
Just love the consistency of the food and the top notch A++ service !
I ABSOLUTELY love The Red Cat. I was taken here for my Birthday and I can truly say everything was delectable. We ordered the grilled escarole (appetizer), shrimp tacos, chicken pilliard and herb fries (entrees) and chocolate semifredo (dessert). Our server Sarah was wonderful and her recommendations was on point. I was not disappointed. Definitely returning at my earliest convenience.
A delightful experience. The skate, foie gras, onion tart, string beans and pork shank are worth coming for. Service was fantastic – attentive and professional but not over whelming. Pistachio torte is a must have.
Very good food. Limited veg options. Very Small portions
Wonderful wait staff and mattresses d. Friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable staff. Delicious, high quality brunch food. A lovely dining experience.
Great food, seasonal menu good service, what's not to like?
We returned to the Red Cat after an absence of some years. It is still under the same ownership and we were delighted by the menu, the atmosphere and the impeccable service. The food was delicious and, indeed, creative. The dessert deserves special mention. We ordered the ice cream sundae and it was served deconstructed, that is, the ice cream was surrounded by the toppings which included brandy-soaked cherries and bacon bits. It was yummy.
This restaurant is on New York’s West Side but we had no problem getting to a broadway show on time.
I highly recommend this excellent restaurant whose simple elegance puts it above many New York Establishments.
Wonderful time, as always, great food and service. Thought about atmosphere. They do it right
I ordered the mussels here were like 6 mussels on top of lots of bread with sauce...
The food was creative and delicious. The service was so friendly and professional. We were a group of 4 and we all had a wonderful meal.
I LOVE, love, love The Red Cat.
Been going for years and never ever a disappointment. There are always lots of things I want to eat on the menu which has old favorites but always some interesting new dishes.
Great seasonal adaptations and new dishes.
The strive is always excellent, charming and informal. Hosts are delightful.
Always warm and welcoming. Great for a date. I had many romantic dinners there and also wonderful with friends for a special occasion or just a meet up.
Any time of day is good at The Red Cat.
Going back twice this week and now I haul down from the Upper West Side as well.
Great recommendations from the wait staff helped to make for a tasty dining experience. We had the duck and steak for main courses and both were expertly prepared. The melted cheese starter was decadent and yummy. The atmosphere was warm lively. We'll be back (again)!
I’m a local. Love this place.
JUST AS GOOD SECOND TIME AROUND
Went here with a friend, on a BBE coupon; had been last year under similar circumstances. Both times, promised to come back and pay full freight because it's worth it. The restaurant has been around for a long time (1980's), characterized as a "neighborhood gem." The "neighborhood" now includes the High Line and I'm afraid Red Cat might be out-glitzed by their new neighbors. But the food is as good, and inventive, as any you'll find anywhere else in the area. It has a warm, comfortable vibe, and the service is absolutely outstanding. Monday nights they serve fried chicken: de-boned and juicy and exquisite. But everything I've tried on the menu has been first rate. Highly recommended.
after ten years of living in New York, this was my first time eating here! I think it may be my new favorite neighborhood spot. Everything was delicious, and the service was great. Love.
My husband and I had a wonderful brunch here. I really enjoyed the pumpkin agnolotti and my hubby liked his chicken paillard. The pistachio semi-freddo was really stellar! Best part of the meal.
It's been years since I've eaten here and I was very disappointed in the small portion size
As well, no bread basked offered with light lunch entrees............
An ex boyfriend introduced me to the Cat several years ago and we would dine here on a semi-frequent basis, but I hadn't been back for a few years. Some friends were in from France and I was delighted to find that the Cat was still a great dining experience. Everyone loved the food. Randall, Gabrielle and our waitperson Erin could not have been more welcoming and attentive. One friend especially liked the music selections - and she's a professional jazz musician. I hope to be a more frequent visitor and to introduce the Cat to more friends.
Be prepared for impeccable, helpful and friendly service - it's why The Red Cat is a semi-finalist in the 2018 Outstanding Service nomination by the James Beard Foundation.
This neighborhood gem provides a flavorful meal with plenty of options for every diet. The Pumpkin Agnolotti is perfection, as is the All Natural Chicken which is a very generously sized portion. The craft cocktails are notable, including The Wilson and Christmas in Mexico. The wine selection is also upscale and broad enough to find something that meets your palette. Try the cheese plate for dessert, but save room for the complimentary chocolate truffles too.
Always great drinks, food and excellent service. We had the liver and the hake. A bit loud this time, however.
Excellent experience with my wife and daughter. The food was delicious and the service exceptional.
There for brunch. If we hadn't had a 30% discount I would have been very angry. 2 "baked" eggs (looked poached, which is ok) on a bed of watery sauteed spinach for $15. And 2 pieces of toast. No better than diner food. Shocking for what used to be a great restaurant.
The food and service were fantastic! The tables are a bit cramped and the prices were high (not crazy). We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner!
We have never had a bad meal here we'll be back. From our drinks at the bar to our wonderful deserts, a good meal was had by all.
We enjoyed our meals, but when I tried three recommended dishes, I was somewhat disappointed. The potatoes surrounding my octopus a la plancha were burned. The skate was plentiful but not special; the apricot tart was boring. The terrine was outstanding, and the semifreddo looked fabulous, though I didn't get a taste.
We had a Blackboard coupon, so I was pleased by the value. Don't know that I would go back, unless I was doing something in the neighborhood.
Great food and service. I bit noisy, since we were placed near the bar. Great wine bargain. Half price for some wines on Thursdays.
Loved the half price on wines $90-200 on Thursdays - great idea! Delicious food as always . The staff are most pleasant and accommodating . Highly recommend this place.
No mystery why Red Cat endures. Terrific food, excellent service, lively atmosphere. We’ve been coming for years and it never disappoints.
Really enjoyed the Red Cat. Food was creative and delicious. Enjoyed the appetizers, hangar steak and duck risotto. Service was excellent. I recommend it!
We were 2 couples . Enjoyed everything from the cocktails, to the appetizers, to the main entrees , desserts & aperitifs. Great night out!
