Always a great experience. Wonderful staff, great food, and cozy atmosphere
I love this place. For 20 years it's been a reliable, consistent source of excellent food and service, maintaining a dignified distance from the restaurant fads (raw food anyone?) and celebrity chefdom that plague the New York restaurant scene. I am very sad that Red Cat is hanging up its apron at the end of the year. Visit before it closes! There are too few restaurants that have been this good, for this long.
We had three great meals and wine and dessert, all reasonable and really delicious. The service got really special, however, after I left my shopping bag behind. Lorraine and Tiffany and I don't know who else tracked me down and got it back to me. That just put the evening over the top on our last night in New York.
We went to Red Cat for a birthday brunch. I was impressed - excellent ambiance, food, and service.
Our dinner was PERFECT as usual! Sooo sad to see it close after so many years. They were there before the art galleries, the Highline, & all the tourists came. My husband & I decided to celebrate our 9yr Anniversary for one last dinner before they close in December. The staff treated us very well with a celebratory champagne toast, corner table (best spot in the house), and great attentive service. Our apps & dinners were great, as per usual, as were our cocktails. This gem will sorely be missed!
Fantastic birthday dinner to celebrate my moms 75th. Excellent service. Healthy vegetarian options too. Get there quick before they close in December. You’ll be glad you did.
It was great. Such a shame that the restaurant is closing.
Always enjoyable, everyone is very friendly and make you feel welcome
We loved it so much at lunch we went back for dinner!
It is tragic that this place will soon close. There is everything to love about The Red Cat from the food, the drinks, service, the ambiance, it is exquisite.
The Red Cat always delivers and never disappoints. So sorry that it is going to close...maybe a change of heart before then?????
Always a great neighborhood go to for me. Sorry to see it go
Good food, prompt service, engaging wait staff. Pleasant ambience. Chelsea location makes it great for people walking the High Line or finishing a gallery tour. Ten minute walk from Penn Station; eight minutes from subway.
Too bad they're closing at the end of the year—owner is simply closing up after many successful years... Will sorely be missed! Go there while you can!
We hadn’t been in a long time for some reason...it was fantastic all around. I can’t believe it’s closing. ☹️
Haven’t been there in many years and clearly they are living on there reputation ambience and location.
Not to be missed
Wonderful restaurant in most every way!! Perfect for a special occasion. The only issue is that at times it was loud. Other than that it’s fantastic!
Always have a wonderful dinner at the Red Cat. Great menu, great drinks, great atmosphere. My only slight complaint is that they are pretty obvious about hustling you out of your table. The waiter brought our check while we were having dessert....
This restaurant has been consistently wonderful from the day it opened its doors. We needed to get in and out quickly to be on time for a gallery opening, and they were very obliging with big smiles, excellent service and two orders of the most crispy on the outside moist on the inside chicken! Exquisite French wines and we were out on time! Can’t wait to return!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Had a quiet lunch with an old friend. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, without interrupting, and gave us some very good menu suggestions. The food was fresh, interesting and tasty. Will definitely return!
Red Cat is a gem! I am so glad I was able to visit before the end of the year. Red Cat, I’ll miss you. Kudos to chef Jimmy Bradley and the entire Red Cat team for creating a fun, special place where every meal was memorable. I highly recommend everyone visit Red Cat, for the food, the vibe and the overall experience. It is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC.
Will be very sorry to see it go. I'm going to have to find a few more excuses to come before they close.
They are always so nice and the food is always amazing!
Brunch is no problem and they are happy to seat you.
The baked fontina cheese dish with garlic bread to share for the table is beyond delicious. I would come back just for that. Comfortable tables so you aren’t squished compared to many typical places in the city.
We enjoyed a Saturday brunch at The Red Cat. The brunch menu was pretty standard but especially well prepared. The service was excellent. The noise level was moderate. The cost was surprisingly reasonable.
Waited in crowded entrance for 30 min past reservation. Lots of pompous New Yorkers grumbled re:the same. Restaurant was LOUD.
Excellent good and service. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Love the Red Cat. Great good!
We had a fabulous time for my friends birthday dinner. The service was stellar and the food amazing. A tribute to all of the good NYC restaurants who are getting pushed out by corporate America..... please don't go!
Recommendation is simple
Get there before it closes for good
My go to restaurant when in NYC for 18 years. Very sad it is closing but happy I got the chance to have a final fantastic meal. I will dream of the green beans and skate forever !!
Thanks Red Cat .........
This is one of my favorite New York restaurants. I am so sad to bea4 that it will close at the the of this year. The food is terrific; I’ve never had a bad meal at The Red Cat. The ambience is delightful, tasteful but not fussy. Stylish yet warm and comfortable. The service is excellent. It’s all worth tripping over to 10th Avenue.
I hope the owner/chef Jimmie Bradley returns to Philadelphia and opens The Red Cat here!
One of my all time faves for reliably good food, solid drinks and excellent service. I can't believe they're closing!
The Red Cat always delivers fabulous food and an amazing experience. This has been my favorite NYC restaurant for 20 years.
Sorry it will close in December. Still items I would like to try
We had another great meal here and are so sad to hear it is closing. Get there before it does if you can.
Had the falafel and egg sandwich - great blend of flavors!
My friends and I LOVE Red Cat, so when we heard they were closing, we wanted to eat there one last time. Unfortunately they were having a really off night. The kitchen seemed really backed up. The food took way too long to come out and when it did, my liver dish was way too rare and the steaks were overcooked, full of gristle, and under seasoned. Really disappointing, but at least we have memories of better meals there.
Excellent food and outstanding service! Unique flavors, interesting dishes.
Such a neighborhood gem, and it's scheduled to close in two months. Way bummed by the news. It's consistently excellent. Innovative along with it's classic. Very few places can pull this off. A few of the front tables near the bar can be noisy. The back is far quieter. Already looking for a similar place as a replacement. Get in and experience the Red Cat before it shuts its doors for the last time.
