red/bar brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Red Bar is a neighborhood institution - always delivering a wonderful experience. The warm atmosphere and consistent quality of the food is worth coming back for. I always seem to be there early or late avoiding the crowds that Red Bar tends to attract and am happy each time. I also love that the chef cooks within the season changing up the menu to deliver a unique dining experience each time.

Red Bar is a place that honestly has been created without any flaws
On a Sunday evening, after the summer season is over, this is a perfect spot for a peaceful and delicious meal. You can appreciate the beauty of the dining room and, best of all, you can have a quiet conversation with table mates! The food and service are both very good, and post-season, there's a very reasonable prix fixe menu Sunday-Thursday. For those worrying about smaller portions, this doesn't seem to be the case. Both the salad I ordered for a starter and the main dish were more than ample. In fact, I struggled to finish the entree, perhaps because I filled up on the warm and excellent rolls with soft butter! Highly recommended, especially on week nights.
The waiter forgot my sister's appetizer and upon being informed when our entrees came out, he shrugged, whispered an apology, and left. The correct thing to do would've been to bring the appetizer when it came out and have it be on the house. My brother also ordered a sirloin but got a NY strip. The tuna appetizer is probably the best thing on the menu. The steak was cooked well, too, but the fish were average and the truffle chicken was not good at all. This was our third time there in maybe three or four years, but we won't be returning.
The food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. When they found out we were not drinking alcohol as my wife is pregnant the service declined. They out raw sage on the plate which any respectable chef would tell you is a no-no. They didn't even fry it. The short ribs could have been better if they did not burn the sauce which gave it a bitter taste. No valet parking. The best part was the desssert. The appetizers was lackwarming. The pasta was not fresh pasta or homemade pasta but rather from a box or bag. I'm not come here for the scene.
If you value your sanity sit outside and bring mosquito repellent because inside you will hear patrons screaming at the top of their lungs just to be heard.
If you like drink and chatter, it's a perfect venue.
If you want a romantic and quite dinner, or to make an important business deal, go elsewhere.
