All and all an OK experience..a bit pricey and the wine list can use some help. Very nice setting though.
Food was bland and nothing to write home about . My husband got the filet mignon and ordered it medium, it came out well done. Waiter asked about it but never offered to have another filet recooked or anything. Very pricey for below average meals. Will never go back or recommend.
Nice prefix ! Loved the mussels. Pasta dish lacked flavor.
Overall experience was good but with some hiccups. The waiter didn't seem to be able to get our friends cocktail correct. Same with the dinner, she ordered the salmon without the glaze and it came cooked with the glaze and had to be sent back. Our other friend has the Osso Bucco and rated it fair. My wife had the fish special which she raved about and I had the lamb chops which were great. The flourless chocolate cake dessert was excellent. Would definitely give it another visit.
My wife and I live in Southampton and go to Red Bar every year around this time, per her request, to celebrate her birthday. We have been doing this every year for about 20 years now and it never gets old.
The food is always creative and delicious, the service top notch, and the ambiance low key romantic. This has attracted us to this place since it opened. We prefer dining there during the week when the room is a little less noisy, but otherwise a great place for a special occasion.
Always consistent and always very good.
Service is attentive and unintrusive--as it should be.
Food was very good except for bread which was stale and tasteless. However, the level of noise was almost unbearable. Also we were at a table for 2 that was way too small. Service was very good and pleasant. The noise though killed the meal, unfortunately. We have been here many times before and never noticed it quite so bad. Sitting in the little back room is better but there was a private party there last night.
Restaurant was really loud and the menu was sadly outdated. Used to really like coming here
Very disappointed as after an hour we had only eaten bread. Service was very slow, for food and drinks. On the plus side we made friends with the table next to us as we laughed about the poor service.
great food, never disappoints...very very loud, the only negative
Great reliable restaurant with friendly service.
Menu does not change
The Baked Alaska is a must!
Great service - beautiful spot - nicest staff but food was not. Very very mediocre and $$$
Way too noisy. Food was good but when you cannot converse with your dinner companions properly because of the noise level it defeats the purpose. Too bad.
What a jewel ! My wife and I were seated right away. The servers were welcoming and attentive. We had the sea bass and the duck. Both were prepared well and highest quality. Great affordable wine list. Energetic room great for people watching. One celeb there. Going back soon.
How many different ways can you be disappointed in a restaurant? The red/bar was awful/brutal. This place was well reviewed and recommended by a friend. Our experience however could not have been worse. The service was poor. Our waiter was rude, unprofessional, and inattentive. It took 15 minutes for him to come to our table and nearly another 15 for him to deliver our wine. That behavior didn’t change. When 45 minutes had passed since we had finished our salads and our entrees hadn’t come, I asked our waiter to check on our entrees. I guess he didn’t like that because he berated me and walked away. When I requested to speak with the manager/host, I got no satisfaction. When our meal did come, my chicken was satisfactory but not special and my wife’s sea bass was cold. Of course it was, it sat in the kitchen for 30 minutes. One other bad sign was that the wait staff were arguing openly on the floor.
This place is a disappointment. Perhaps it was very good at some point but it seems that there is little attention paid to detail and it lives off a once favorable reputation.
Today, red/bar is just plain/bad.
We love the atmosphere and the food. Service was a little slow this time, but other times have been fine. Overall, it’s a great dining experience!
Red Bar is always a wonderful, sophisticated dining experience. Great food, friendly and efficient service and lively ambiance. The menu is varied and has something for every taste. We always feel well taken care of from the moment we arrive.
Stacey & entire staff make you feel welcome . Lovely go to place.
Lively place with lots of people packed into a small dining room - at times it's even hard to hear. The crowd is a little older than average, food is good, but nothing really stands out to make it great. Service fits the busy/loud vibe of the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good for the area and I'd definitely go back.
Wonderful food and service as always. We appreciate them being so kind as well to our baby and toddler. We consistently get the baked Alaska for dessert. Family hit.
Wonderful room. Host is on top of things. Excellent service. Just Too noisy
Very good food, service & atmosphere. A good verity of menu choices..
As usual, wonderful food and service. At 8pm on a Sunday, the room was not crowded (by 9 we were the only table left), but in a hat room it takes only one or two loudmouths to create a noise, and for about half an hour there was one. After he left, all was serene and we enjoyed a quiet dinner.
Great food, atmosphere and service---A restaurant that knows what they are doing and is consistently at the top of its game
One of our favorite places to dine, especially when we want to feel fancy!!
We ordered the gazpacho which was excellent. The pork shanks were tasty but very fatty - they must have been roasted instead of braised.the presentation was excellent. The crackling surrounding the shank was pretty much inedible because it was so fatty and salty. My daughter loved the sauerkraut- me, not so much. The entrees are a little bit expensive - the wine is pricey!
Love Red bar one of our favorite places to eat Great food staff is outstanding! always a 10.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful and attentive the service was, in spite of a very busy night. The ambiance is open, busy, and somewhat loud, but we enjoy a lively atmosphere. The food was nicely presented, and very much like the bistros we recently visited in Paris - simple, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The drinks were very well prepared and the wine suggested accurately. This is a family owned business, and you can tell. I spoke the host earlier the day before to see if we could be seated later in the evening; he accommodated. And when we arrived, he thanked me for calling and then offered us a table by the window instead of the promised middle table. Very nice.
Couldn't have asked for more. Each dish was plated beautifully and the food creative, fresh and tasty without being fussy. The service staff and hostess were very attentive. I visited for dinner on a Sunday night by myself while traveling on business in a new town. Was pampered and well fed! Highly recommend this gem.
I have never written any review on this site ( or any other ) that was good or bad, but feel i needed to. This meal was so disappointing. We stay out east every summer and dine in many of the restaurants in East Hampton. We were recommended Red Bar as we were going to be i. south Hampton for the day so decided to try it. The food which was brought ot us very quickly, first needed to be returned as it was cold. Then it was brought back, the chicken was still not hot but i did not send it back. My husband had the fish ( I believe it was the black bass that was a special ). He was sick all night and all the next day. He was absolutely fine until a few hours after the meal. The prices are not inexpensive which we are quite accustomed to but it was like taking $100 plus and just throwing it away. ( we only ordered 2 main courses, no appetizers or desert ) It was very early and the restaurant was not that busy as well. I cant imagine how it would be with all of the tables filled. I do not plan on ever returning and will certainly not suggest this as a dining choice to anyone that in know.
Love this place!! Great food and atmosphere
Cool Hamptons vibe!
Broccoli was not cooked
The people are always friendly and nice. And the good delicious
All great. Glen as always..so welcoming.. will be back soon.
Excellent as always
Always fabulous! The food was on point and the french martini was divine!
We were celebrating our 13th Anniversary....but didn’t even stay for dessert. The restaurant was absolutely TEEMING with people....too many tables for such a small space...and the noise level was deafening.
Food and service were exceptional. Love this restaurant.
Cheese board very skimpy
