Great as always..Great staff and is dog friendly on the patio..Perfect lunch setting, enjoyed sitting outdoors in the arid High Desert of West Texas with a bowl of Jalapeno Cilantro soup and 1/2 Reata Club sandwich, Beer is always cold. God Bless Texas!
A real find in a small town Texas Town (Alpine). Not just a steakhouse, although those are excellent. A must do if you’re in Alpine.
We visited REATA twice, first on April 4, 2018, second on Saturday, April 7. We have eaten at REATA before and it was always outstanding.
First visit: Excellent food, carefully prepared and served by a knowledgeable waitress. Just excellent and tasty food prepared well.
Second visit: Notable difference in the preparation of the food. The salad was just dumped on the plate. The signature dish, Carne Asada, ordered as "medium rare", was served bloody. The meat was put back on the grill, came back medium rare with the rest of the food on the plate now cold. I understand that Saturdays are busy. However, REATA should still serve food at the quality level customers expect.
Everyone and everything was just great and we were treated like friends.
Nice for drinks on the lovely patio. Service is great, unfortunately the food is mediocre. Would not recommend for dinner.
Excellent food with the best courteous service. Excellent dining for any special occasion. Highly recommend!
This place was a wonderful place to enjoy our 9th Anniversary. Our waitress went above and beyond to be sure we were enjoying our time. The patio was heavenly to have a romantic dinner at.
Great birthday celebration restaurant. Very good food, pleasant staff.
Diners were packed fairly tightly, so the loud diners at the next table were intrusive. We should have tried the steak, but instead chose Tex-Mex dishes which were heavy and average.
The food was okay but honestly, I've had better at a lesser price. Our server, Dania was excellent. She made to whole evening worthwhile.
Mediocre food and drinks. The margarita i had was the most basic looking and tasting drink I've ever been served. I expected better food and drink for the price.
Interesting menu. Food was tasty. The restaurant had no trace of our OpenTable reservation, but was able to seat us without a wait in spite of that. Possibly BECAUSE of that, service was rushed and a bit awkward. The good food more than made up for that: the carne asada topped w/ enchiladas was delicious. There's a reason it is at the top of the menu! Order that!
Great service and excellent food. Look forward to dining here again
Reata is the best spot in Alpine TX for dining. Reservations recommended. We enjoyed the overall atmosphere --Western Ranch style. Good food. Out here in West Texas there are only a few class I dining establishments -- and like the others --Reata charges a little above what I would prefer. Food was very good (my brisket tamales with pecan mash) -- wife's chicken fried steak was tough tho flavored well. I wish I had room for the bread pudding in a tamale husk but was too full.
I took 2 friends who had never dined at Reata. Having enjoyed many lovely meals at Reata with my late husband, I was anxious to see what the evening would bring. No worries! They were impressed. As weight watchers, we all chose the salmon with different sides instead of the rice. Each portion was cooked perfectly. Juicy yet cooked through. How special to find fish so well done in land locked Alpine. Kudos to the chef!
Reata is one of our favorite all-time restaurants. We travel through Alpine once or twice a year and always eat at least once at the Reata. The food, service, and atmosphere never fail to be top notch in all respects. We were traveling this year with friends and took them to the Reata. The husband of our friends said that his Ribeye was the best steak he had ever had. My wife and his wife both had the Carne Asada and declared their dinners great. My biggest disappointment was that they no longer have draft beer. If you visit Alpine, TX., do not miss the Reata you will not be disappointed.
Our waitress was awesome !
Texas comfort food in an old house in Alpine. It fits the area nicely, and the staff was super friendly. We started with a bowl of the shrimp and corn chowder, which was excellent and full of shrimp. None of the mains we selected were particularly noteworthy, but all were eaten. We had the chicken fried chicken, grilled chicken with blue cheese and tomatoes (best dish, chicken was cooked perfectly), penne Alfredo chicken and the burger. Wine list was very thin by the glass, although there were a few nice bottles available, up to a Silver Oak Cab, to give some perspective. My teenagers had the dessert, apple crisp with the ice cream as the highlight, and my wife had the creme brulee which was a solid preparation.
A great restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I had the best Chicken Fried Steak I’ve had in years.
Drove down to Alpine for a weekend getaway / mini-Honeymoon. Reatta was wonderful. The food was great, the service was fabulous, and the experience was well worth the price tag. I definatley recommend Reatta for a special occasion or that really significant person in your life.
The Reata is a true gem of a restaurant tucked away in the center of downtown Alpine. When you enter, the cozy ambiance hits you immediately and it is much larger than it looks from the outside. You can always count on unique specials of the day and the amazing steaks, chicken fried chicken, fresh scrumptious salads, chicken tortilla soup, deserts and bar drinks.
Great Atmosphere, great food and great service! All around, very very good! Would highly recommend dining here!
recommended by my brother, so glad we went. will go again if ever back in Alpine.
Beef tenderloin tacos were great. So was the tortilla soup, though very spicy. Friendly service.
Service and food were good, as a vegetarian, the options are slim...I know we are in a cattle producing area, and most residents are not vegetarians, but it still would be nice to have, maybe a pasta entree or something besides a vege plate...otherwise, for all my guests, it was great.
Loved the service, appetizers, bar drinks and the chicken fried steak....however, the carne asada was a surprise, no where in the description did it mention barbeque sauce, that was quite a surprise! It was not my cup of tea, but for others I guess it is what it is! Thanks for having us!
We visited Riata on Dec 2 our 39th anniversary. We were greeted with Happy Anniversary when we arrived and seated in the back room in an intimate corner. Our waitress was very pleasant and after a short time brought my wife and me two glasses of complimentary champagne with a cherry in the bottom. We received first class treatment throughout the whole meal. At the end of our main course a dessert tray was brought to us complimentary. We received our dessert and a card congratulating us for 39 tears by our waitress Mel and what appeared to be signed by everyone in the restaurant. The evening was wonderful because of the efforts of the Riata restaurant and staff. Thank you.
Food was good, but not great. Service was very good. The place is a bit loud so it is hard to carry on a conversation. Overall, I would eat there again.
Wow. What a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Big Bend. Will be back!
Great food! The menu selections are unique and tasty! Fun place!
Excellent as always! Wait staff knows menu and is attentive.
Classic Texan ambiance. Good Tex-Mex menu. Beer selection very limited. Didn't need reservation. Almost empty on a Monday night.
Frequently dine at Reata in FW but it is always fun to go to the "original" (my second visit). Excellent range of prices - however the beef was fantastic and worth the cost. Wine by the glass is somewhat limited but well priced. Will go anytime that I'm in west Texas.
Would like see a larger selection of meat cuts. T-bone for sure.
Delicious and good service
Had a reservation, was seated as soon as we arrived. Food was great, so was the, would be sure and stop again if I was in town.
Very unexpected creative place in Alpine with good service and pleasant ambiance
Southwestern style food, well prepared and served. But they are overtly ageist.
We stopped here for dinner while overnighting in Alpine on a trip. Lovely town, great restaurant with wonderful food and event better service!
Soups were way too spicy (and we enjoy lots of spicy food). Waitress did not offer to comp the soup, even as we were choking on the peppers and drinking lots of water.
