Reata Restaurant-Alpine Ratings and Reviews
Service and food were good, as a vegetarian, the options are slim...I know we are in a cattle producing area, and most residents are not vegetarians, but it still would be nice to have, maybe a pasta entree or something besides a vege plate...otherwise, for all my guests, it was great.
Loved the service, appetizers, bar drinks and the chicken fried steak....however, the carne asada was a surprise, no where in the description did it mention barbeque sauce, that was quite a surprise! It was not my cup of tea, but for others I guess it is what it is! Thanks for having us!
We visited Riata on Dec 2 our 39th anniversary. We were greeted with Happy Anniversary when we arrived and seated in the back room in an intimate corner. Our waitress was very pleasant and after a short time brought my wife and me two glasses of complimentary champagne with a cherry in the bottom. We received first class treatment throughout the whole meal. At the end of our main course a dessert tray was brought to us complimentary. We received our dessert and a card congratulating us for 39 tears by our waitress Mel and what appeared to be signed by everyone in the restaurant. The evening was wonderful because of the efforts of the Riata restaurant and staff. Thank you.
Frequently dine at Reata in FW but it is always fun to go to the "original" (my second visit). Excellent range of prices - however the beef was fantastic and worth the cost. Wine by the glass is somewhat limited but well priced. Will go anytime that I'm in west Texas.
We were seated as soon as we walked in (had reservation) drinks were served in less than 5 minutes order was taken then meal served appx. 20 minutes later food was cooked correctly hot enough but not to hot and had plate appeal. This is not our 1st visit here it is consistently above average and the wait staff is very well trained. We consider it worth the 130 mile round trio drive to dine here.
Only complaint to a great meal and overall experience....i had made reservations several days ahead of time. When we arrived tried to seat us at table right by the main walkway and where all traffic in rest passes. Asked to be aeated in corner amd were told that this was the table that they reserved for us. Asked for a different table and finally manager moved us to table out of walkway. At the time restaurant was half full.
Always worth the trip to Alpine to visit Reata. We started with the jalepeno soup and an order of the bacon wrapped shrimp. Very delicious and could have just stopped there but we got entrees too. I had the chile relleno which has a rich, cheesy filling and my spouse had the steak. This is not the place to go to if you are on a diet! It's a place to indulge. Of course we had no room for dessert...maybe next time.
Excellent customer service. The entire staff was very friendly. Food was good, great margaritas, nice atmosphere, great outdoor dining area. Best for us was pet friendly in the outdoor dining area. We were traveling with our dog. We will definitely be returning to this establishment. I would recommend that you make reservations.
My husband was in Alpine working and we met him to have a little family vacation. The Ft. Worth location is a favorite of ours so we always make it a point to eat here when we are in the Alpine area. We made reservations in advance (48 hours in advance to be sure and get a table- I'd HIGHLY recxomend this!) and took our three children. They loved it and enjoyed the atmosphere. Everyone was super friendly and our food was amazing. I've seen my husband tip the chef twice in my life and this occasion was one of them. His ribeye was excellent. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be back every time we are out there!
Service and staff very friendly. Was a solid but not spectacular meal. Was worth the money. Got the signature steak - cooked perfect. Order your steak the way you want it don't fudge over/under. Mushrooms undercooked and still "wet" and didn't absorb flavoring. Stems tough. Green beans cooked al dente - meaning correctly. Limited wine list but not unexpected given location, size of restaurant. Would I eat here every time I was in town - yes!! Would I drive 300 miles just to eat here - no.
This is usually great, I love the tortilla soup and the jalapeno and cliantro soup. This time I got a Reata Club sandwich to try; however, I feel like the sandwich is mostly bread. It felt as if it was missing a good chunk of meat. The bread also, I felt, would have been good if it was toasted. The waitress was okay, she could have been more friendly as her facial expressions told a different story. The staff seemed a bit bothered when we had one extra person show up to our reservation, which I found unpleasant. We didn't think one more person would make a difference; but, apparently it was an annoyance. Another person at our table got the club and felt it wasn't very good. Other than that, it was fine.
The Jalapeño Cilantro soup was creamy and simple. Loved the Field Greens salad with goat cheese and Texas pecans. Just delicious and a nice way to convince myself I'm eating healthy before I dive into the entrees! I recommend the classic Texas favorite Chicken Fried Steak, which half our party ordered. I also love the carne asada, topped with rich warm cheese enchiladas. The only sad point was learning that they have a different dessert menu from the Fort Worth location -- I definitely missed the Dessert Tacos!
Were seated promptly at a table located as we had requested. Service was prompt, courteous, unimposing and very thorough.
Our drink order was taken immediately and served quickly.
The appetizer orders were taken and served punctually even with the substitution/alteration requested and accommodated by our server. Timing for serving the main course was perfect as was our desert order and delivery of same.
ALL the food was well prepared, presented and had excellent texture and taste.
Then the big surprise, the check which was very reasonable.
This provided for a very enjoyable dining experience and we highly recommend Reata when in Alpine Texas.
