Taylor was our waitress/server and she definitely made the evening a most wonderful experience. She explained the menu, our options, she described the Grande margarita in such glowing terms that my wife and I each ordered one; Taylor was right: they were great. So, in fact, were our meals. My wife ordered the tenderloin salad and I had the chicken-fried steak. Both were cooked exactly as requested. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the evening made for a fine memory.
So disappointed. Cocktails came when we had almost finished appetizers. Steak was so tuff couldn't eat it. Hostess did remove from ticket but made snide remark before doing so.
Big bend motorcycle trip
Our server was young and possibly a bit inexperienced. But, he was friendly and did well otherwise. Food was very good. Pecan Pie dessert was Awesome!
I believe we ordered the wrong thing and that prompted the over-all 4 star rating. The appetizer was very good - chicken nachos but the Carne Asada was over cooked and seasoned differently than what we get in Texas - it was just OK; the Chicken Fried steak was very good but I should have substituted your Jalapeño Grits for the Mashed Potatoes and Vegetable Medley as it took something away from my dining experience - that’s My Bad not Yours.
We enjoyed our dinner but should have ordered your steaks. Maybe next time.
This is the 3rd time I've been in the past 10 years. Not the same level of service that I recalled from previous visits. Hostess seemed hurried and was a little put off when we asked to be seated outside. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks that we ordered. One waitress for the entire front section, so she was trying to keep up with all the tables. Our meal was average compared to our experience in the past.
We have eaten here several times and have never had a bad experience!
drink was great food was as well but took really long time to arrive
The food is phenomenal and super delicious and highly recommend it. Pls make sure to make online reservation (much easier than calling) because their fully booked all the time. Also, the staff Service especially Jeremiah was very attentive and excellent in all ways, he is very welcoming and with pleasant attitude.
COVID menu was disappointing. Many of our favorite items were missing.
Food was awesome!!! I guess we made reservations during the busy dinner hour. Had to wait a little bit for our food. There was a party of 6 indoors that was a little loud , which was fine but I couldn't hold a conversation without yelling or not talking at all due to the noise.
Dinner and atmosphere were very enjoyable. Sat outside on patio and weather was wonderful and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Service was excellent and very accommodating. Best buttermilk pie in the world to finish off the evening!
I was somewhat disappointed in my meal. I think the carne asada was overrated. The meat was tasty but a little tough, but the enchiladas were a major disappointment. My husband had the chicken fried steak which he said was delicious, but the sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were not so great.
I would definitely go there again, but not with such high expectations
Surprised to be served a “tough “ hamburger!! Initially had to send the first one back as it was overdone. The next one was done ok but was tough. A “tough “ hamburger!!??
Food was absolutely outstanding and the waitress was excellent. The setting/atmosphere is lovely! We loved the restaurant.
The waitress was attentive and very pleasant. Atmosphere was cozy and warm. Food was remarkable!
I had the salmon and my wife had the pasta and shrimp. Both were excellent flavor but the three shrimp were very small. We had Creme Brulee dessert which was good but very small.
A pleasant find on our trip. Wonder ful service staff and good food.
Thank you for helping us celebrate our Anniversary
I really wanted to love Reata. I made my reservation two months in advance. It was my birthday and I was eating at the original Reata! So exciting. The big problem is that they were very short staffed. The manager and our waitress apologized several times; apparently several staff members had a soccer game. (Was that supposed to make us feel better?) We were gracious and did not complain but it truly took over an hour for any food to arrive. The people at the table next to us, who arrived after us, had finished eating before we received any food.
The chili relleno was good but it couldn't replace our favorite. (Chuy's - I fear they have taken it off the menu.) My husband's chicken fried steak was good. The vegetable medley was just broccoli. My tenderloin tacos were excellent. The rice was good. The beans were dried out.
It would have been nice if they had offered us a complimentary drink - or at least a few crackers - while we waited for our food. Alas, I know times are tough and budgets are tight. Perhaps I'll try the Ft. Worth location some time to give them another try.
Our first time to Reata and met all expectations.
We live near Fort Worth and love Reata. It was fun to try the Alpine restaurant! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and we loved the atmosphere. We will definitely recommend a stop at The Reata for our friends visiting Alpine.
Best choice in Alpine! We always reserve in advance on our trips to Big Bend country.
Excellent food and service. We liked Reata so much last night that we came back again tonight.
Friendly, courteous staff. Great atmosphere & wonderful food. We will definitely return there if we visit that area of Texas again. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We were in town and the restaurant came highly recommended, enjoyed our time
Loved Reata. Our server was Taylor and she was amazing. Her candor and enthusiasm made the experience incredible. Highly recommend both the food here and Taylor as your host!
Food and service were mediocre. The social distancing was good due to Covid restrictions. I do not know how they are going to handle a full house post pandemic. Food service was slow, waiters seemed overworked and there was not a crowd.
Food was good, not excellent, our waitress was very slow. There was a long wait to order, before the appetizer came, and for the check.
Any time we are in Alpine we enjoy this venue. The food is fabulous as is the service.
Just a nice lunch with family.
Great food and ambiance! Taylor, our server was especially excellent at customer service! We will definitely return when back in Alpine, TX!!
We were on vacation with friends and it was my husband’s birthday. I had made it clear in my online reservation that we were celebrating that occasion. Nothing was mentioned or acknowledged at the restaurant at all. It also happened to be Valentine’s weekend as well and that’s why most everyone else was there. The server was attentive at first but as the restaurant filled up, we had to ask for things like water, which, at these prices should not have been lacking. Most everything was good but we ordered the carne asada with cheese enchiladas and split it. We ordered the beef to be cooked medium, but was cool red when we cut into it. We cut another place and it was medium well. We did not send it back since my husband likes things on the rare side and I can take it more done, but sadly it was tough and rest of the food was not as hot as it should have been. Our friends liked their meals which were the red fish feature and the citrus crusted chicken.
The ambiance was good, drinks were good, dessert was amazing- the buttermilk pecan pie - do not miss it!
Overall for the price I thought it should have been better, but was a better-than-average meal.
Celebrating my wife’s birthday. Food and drink was excellent, service was friendly, courteous & professional.
Very accommodating with seating outdoors on a chilly evening. Heat provided and enjoyed Alpines fresh air.
The service was very good, and the staff took great care to be safe while food handling with regards to the pandemic. Also, the food was excellent and abundant! Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food, service & atmosphere! Best place in Alpine TX
Good was great. Had the tamales to start and the carbs asada topped with an enchilada for dinner. Very good! Highly recommend.
Had dinner in the bar area as we couldn’t get a reservation in the dinning room. We didn’t mind, this is always a stop for us when we visit the area. Great appetizers. Everything was great, would love to see a filet on the menu. Ribeye has amazing flavor but always tough. Cheesy grits are delish, Cesar salad was very good. Nice little wine selection of modest wines. Alway great staff, very friendly and fun atmosphere. We always come back!
This was our 3rd time visiting Reata but their attempts to navigate new regulations creates a terrible dining experience.
If you are going to spend $100 or more on a meal for two people you do not expect to receive paper packets of salt and pepper with which to season your salad. Or seated near a freezing cold drafty door just to keep everyone isolated. At least fix the draft so that your guests are not miserable for the whole meal. Kw add music that was waaaay too loud and you can see it was not money well spent.
Our government is destroying this industry and the failure of restaurant owners to fight back is allowing it to happen.
