Real Seafood Company - Bay City Ratings and Reviews
My finance and I came here on Valentine’s Day (which is also his birthday) and we had a great experience! We had never been before and our server explained the menu, drinks, etc., to us. He was very polite and brought our food in a timely manner. The food was amazing! We look forward to coming back soon!
The food and the service were amazing. Kerice made sure we were well taken care of (in stealth mode) and our server Jackie was phenomenal. She made sure our 27th Valentine’s Day celebration was perfect. We can’t wait to go back! Absolutely a gem in Bay City!
Unfortunately, I am unable to give a stellar review for this visit. First and foremost - we made reservations for 6:45. We arrived about five minutes early and, admittedly, it was very busy. We provided the hostess with our reservation information and she advised we needed to wait. Instead of advising us that it would be a few minutes or preface it in some other customer service friendly manner. We watched as at least four other parties were shown to tables - of which three were also parties of two. When we were finally seated, it was in the bar section which was very loud and busy. I would have assumed that since we had reservations we would have been in the dining room section.
Our waitress was only so-so. She was very slow to come by the table and in fact walked past us approximately three times without even acknowledging we were there. Another staff member poured us water and told us that the waitress would be over soon. We probably waited ten minutes for her to come over and take our drink order. Our appetizer took a very long time and considering it was the tuna tartare, it should not have taken nearly as long. Our salad was served almost immediately after receiving the appetizer. With regard to the entrees, I specifically requested that my lobster be cracked with the meat removed and was assured that the staff would take care of it (and I know they are capable because I always have them handle it). Instead, a portion of the lobster - tail meat only - was removed and I would hazard to guess the food runner just gave up on the rest. Our waitress returned only once to check on us and we had to request water refills.
We are frequent diners and tremendously enjoy it. However, it was disheartening to say the least that the staff just didn't seem to have it together on his visit.
Had a reservation for 2 at 7:15 did not get a table until 7:40. There was some mix up but when you make a reservation 10 Min late is pushing it. and only for 2 people !
But the manager did respond to the issue and took one of our meals off the bill. The service was good so the waiter got pretty much what the manager took off our bill.
All good but it would be nice to see local fish like Perch, Blue Gill and Walleye on the menu.
I will try again. our meals where good but a little pricy...
We had a group of six; I made reservations and when we arrived the table was ready--no waiting. The wait staff was awesome. The menu was explained thoroughly, and the waitress was there at the appropriate times for ordering, checking to see that everything was alright. Our drinks were refilled promptly and the food was absolutely awesome!
Two of us (ladies) ordered a bottle of white wine. Guys could not decide on the red wine that they wanted so our server said she would be back. It was at least 10/12 minutes before she came back and another 15 before got our wine. She did not bring the white until the guys ordered the red. We were parched. No impressed with the service.
Excellent menu with creative dishes. Good service and friendly wait staff. Prompt seating with reservation. Lots of wine choices. Beautiful setting along river with great window viewing. I really enjoyed the chicken dish with pecan coating. Out of towns were very impressed with their choices and my husband's scallops were wonderful. Will definitely return for special occasions and the summer outdoor seating.
We went to Real Seafood for my husband's Birthday and had a wonderful dining experience. The service and food were both excellent. And, while we have been there in the Summer time and enjoyed dining outside on the waterfront area, it was also a very cozy atmosphere for dining inside on the cold December night when we dined there most recently.
The food was very good, as it was the last 4-5 times we've ate here. The service was beyond awful for a restaurant that I assume thinks of itself as upscale / fine dining.
It was very clear no one was interested in us enjoying our meal or our evening. we were rushed out of the restaurant as fast as possible. Our entrée order was taken minutes after our appetizer order was taken. My soup was brought to us not 2 minutes after we finished the appetizer and my entrée was brought before I had even finished the soup. My fiancé's entrée plate was taken from her without being asked if she had finished! There was still food on the plate. My meal was incompletely ate and we were never asked if we would like a to go container.
it took an excessively long time for the waitress to ask my fiancé if she wanted more wine.
we consumed a 3 course meal in barely 60 minutes. we expected a slow couple hour dining experience.
I probably won't be back for a long time, unless I'm in for lunch.
If I wanted to be treated like a barn animal I'd have tried Denny's.
Walking into the establishment we we're greeted promptly from the hostess and we were checked in and got a drink at the bar. When our table was ready we were seated and greatest by our server. She was very attentive and showed us how to use the tablet for the menu. Each course was delish. We started with the crab and artichoke dip followed by the lobster linguini and the stuffed flounder. Finished our evening off with the chocolate layer cake and coffee. We had an amazing experience for my husband's birthday. Thanks again, we will be back for sure!
