My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner. One if the fresh catch choices was swordfish which was fantastic. It was prepared perfectly.
The server was attentive and pleasant. We had the calamari as an appetizer and the key lime pie for dessert. Both were delicious. Overall, a great experience.
We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and were told we could have 50% off the the food items. Naturally we ordered more food and appetizers than normal, however, when it came time for the bill they required my daughter's drivers license, which she did not have (only a U of M student ID). They would not honor the 50% off so we paid double what we thought we would pay. They offered to give off 50% towards the next visit if we came back within 30 days, but as this is fairly pricey and not a place we go to on a regular basis, we opted out. I wish the waiter asked for the ID in advance as this was a costly lesson for us.
Went for the birthday special. Saw 4 tables around us, also celebrating, so the discount is definitely bringing folks in. Blue plate special and service were excellent.
Food was good per usual for Real Seafood. Our server was not good. Got upset when we weren’t ready to order right when he came to our table. Brought us the wrong bottle of wine but opened it and poured before we noticed. Was also inattentive to our table of 6. Just not good.
Seating area was very cold. Took our server about 10-15 minutes to get our drink orders. Our filets were cold.
Friends came into town to enjoy a concert at the Ark and we chose Real Seafood for dinner. Great decision. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ability to carry on a conversation. Staff was amazing and the swordfish was a delight.
Really like this place, food is Good. Staff very willing to please. Great service. I do have to say, I ordered the Lobster bites and was dissapointed in the tiny size portion atop of lettuce. I Also ordered the King Crab Legs. They were so over cooked that they were dried out. It was my Birthday so I didn't complain, as I wanted a happy evening. I won’t order thst again. But other then han this time food has been good.
It was our anniversary and the restaurant was mostly empty yet we were seated in the back right next to a large group that was very loud and obnoxious. They started arriving shortly after us and made it very difficult to have conversation. I have worked in the food service industry for years so I have to wonder if we were seated there because we were wearing jeans and t-shirts instead of more upscale clothing? Our server did the best she could with taking care of us and the large party but it wasn't as exceptional as we have had in the past.
Smallest lobster tail I have seen served as a single.
Had to send the lobster back because it was not fully cooked. Kind of disappointing at a seafood restaurant. But they took it off the bill, comped my drinks and desert.
Great food. Great service
Took a group of 10 for Easter. Table was ready when we arrived, waiter was great. (tyler?) Food was great, everyone was happy. We had oysters, calamari, shrimp, chicken, scallops, soup, steak and sides, so a wide variety and everything tasted perfect. Best coconut cream pie ever!
Great food! The booth we were seated at was so close to the table it was uncomfortable for those of us sitting on either side.
Easter family outing
Birthday - We love the MSV birthday deals, so thank you so much!
Not impressed with the food, which was overpriced and rather unfulfilling.
Our server was EXCELLENT!!!
Went there for my daughter’s birthday and received discount because of birthday food was average service was average ambience nothing special
The food was excellent as usual. I was disappointed with the size of the margaritas that were ordered. They were the smallest I have ever seen. Then when I got the check, I just had to laugh. They were $12 each!! Granted, they were top shelf, but come on maaaaaan!
Excellent fresh seafood selection in downtown Ann Arbor.
The bread was delicious but the food was average and we felt that we were being rushed. We had a 6:00pm reservation on the evening of the Michigan basketball game so not sure if they were trying to open more tables...probably won’t go back.
Nothing special, food or ambiance wise. The booths on the two sides of the room we were in were different sizes and our four top was put into the very small and narrow side rather than a bigger booth or roomier free standing table. While the lack of music and relaxed quiet scattered other diners was nice, the steady pounding of prep work being done in the open prep kitchen was jarring. It seemed an odd choice to put guests right by that when a whole room was open and theother open room we saw was very sparsely populated.
On the food side, the calamari was too heavily breaded but tasted decent, mussels were ok, crab cake not bad but mostly filler. Entrees just ok too. Fish is cooked skillfully but the stuffings are bland. The kids’ chicken meal was laughably small, two bitty bites of chicken that was mostly breading and an amount of fries that could be more accurately described as a garnish rather than
a side. Drinks were fine, no one at our table ordered anything mixed but a decent selection and standard pours.
The best parts of the meal were the vegetables. The Caesar salad with homemade croutons was really tasty and the roasted vegetable side was a standout. The greens with fruit, nuts and vinaigrette that was the plate mate of the lackluster crab cake was good enough to almost warrant its price. The “wild” (just brown) rice and bread were both good too. Maybe they should call this place The Real Starch and Veggie Company?
Last note: using off brand tablets for lunch menus is NOT a good idea. Out of the four we tried only one worked, they’re a total PITA. Did not like.
Everything about this restaurant, food and service was excellent!
Exceptional food and amazing service!
We went in Wednesday evening for our anniversary. Service by Lauren was spot on. The food was excellent. I had mussels and a Mediterranean salad. My husband had the tuna. It was just what we hoped
Both the bartender and our waitress provided attentive, individualized service both in the bar and at our table. They were friendly and personable, and of course, our food was delicious!
Good Food and Good Service. The restaurant itself could be a little cozier, but still a very good meal.
We were n the area, and was looking for seafood I chose real seafood and it was excellent. The only minor problem we had, our table cloth on our table was plastic and it was badly ripped at both ends, it would be nice to have white cloth for table cloths. Otherwise, I would diffidently recommend.
Good place to go for a birthday dinner. Unfortunate that even if you show up and it’s empty during happy hour you cannot enjoy the advertised happy hour unless you go into the bar. Didn’t know that before the hostess insisted on seating us at our table while we waited for our party. Cost an extra $10+ to wait at a table instead of the bar....
Barb is the best. Wonderful lunch.
Best seafood in A2. Only complaint is upper level seating is extremely loud.
While the food was well prepared, the attentiveness of the wait staff was less than expected. We were there mid-afternoon, hours after the typical lunch rush and three hours before dinner. We waited 15 minutes before receiving any service and then any additional attention required our calling over the wait staff to our table.
We have been to Real Seafood several times and in fact were returning because we had our first date there. The waitress was inattentive and seemed like she couldn't wait to get away from the table. We were sitting out on the patio area (closed in now) and my chair was directly over the heater. At first it was cozy but over the course of the dinner the heat never let up.... I was sweating by the end of the meal and ended up waiting outside for my husband to pay. The corner table was also talking about how hot they were. Between the waitress's attitude, the slow service ( it took two hours to eat a dinner for two people and this caused us to be late for our sitter) and the average food we, we will not be returning.
Good meal, although my shrimp scampi had little garlic
We went to this restaurant for my husband’s birthday. We had a great meal ( my husband’s meal was free!). Our server was very attentive, refilling our water glasses several times, bringing the table extra bread, boxes for our food to take home, etc. I definitely recommend this restaurant for great food and service.
Real Seafood always has excellent food and service and this repeat visit for my birthday did not disappoint. Inventive combinations enhance the taste and presentation of the meal. Birthday discounts given. Great wine selection.
Very nice wait staff. Food great
Awesome dining experience.
Thanks Terrance for an awesome dining experience.
Our meal began with lobster bisque, which was excellently flavored and had some tender pieces of lobster in it. The texture was smooth and creamy and the bowl was large enough to share. For my meal, I ordered the stuffed salmon, which was perfectly cooked and stuffed with shrimp and crab and was nicely baked. I substituted the salad for the coleslaw, which was another excellent choice. The house dressing is delicious and the salad was nicely prepared. My friend ordered the pasta with clam sauce, a meal he has ordered several times, and expressed his enjoyment of the dish. We finished with the creme brulee, another tasty favorite. Our meal was delicious, and the wait staff was very attentive.
Vince made an awesome mock tail for my pregnant daughter He went above and beyond
